    Concepts are some of most challenging and rewarding aspects of design. Great video. I love coming up with design concepts, but they take a lot of work and research.

    Hay Rasha, just want to let you know that your videos have made a very big difference in the assignments I produce.
    I went from failing my last assignment to getting a distinction in the next through watching your videos, you seem to hit the head on every question I have every time.
    Not to mention I have the “kiss” principle written on my sketch book ;-)
    Keep it up!

    As a fellow design professional (commercial and residential interior designer of 40yrs ) ID'ers share many, if not all, the tenants and processes as architects , so I found your explanation of concept development well done and informative for the novice designer . Keep up the good work ps Venturi rocks

    So glad I found your page. Alas, I am being recommended true talent and relevant information.
    I've been looking for the procedures an architect should take to fully compose and create an idea, from start to finish, without going to school. My difficulty has been knowing the information I am gathering, from start to finish, with an architectural/landscape/interior design. I know there's a few start ups, of individuals that didn't go to school, and create their own construction/home design companies, which really inspires me to continue, but I am buffering and lagging at taking on a project. I had a design request recently, for example, for a canopy, and had no idea where to start, besides sketching up ideas and doing a site analysis. I suppose, more so, the thing that makes me lag, is taking the initiative and finding an engineer to sign off on ideas and construction plans. I wonder, do you need an engineer for all projects, and for how much of the process? Sorry for ranting....phew!

    • @SurvivingArchitecture
      @SurvivingArchitecture  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dear Alas, I understand what you mean and even I find my self lagging lol. When you look at architecture firms they have civil engineer, architect assistant, architect and more, but those are the main one. When you are in architecture school you tend to learn everything from creating lighting layout to interior design to construction detail. This is not because you have to d it but because you have to understand it to be able to design to it up to its limits. So the answer to your question is that if you know enough and maybe only get advice and are qualified to sign of construction plans your self and get a builder to understand what you're doing and it has been signed off by the government (which might just be an English thing) you should be okay. I hope this answered your question.

    Loved this video.
    I am a french architecture student and everything said here is exactly how we learn architecture in my school.
    I stopped to write a comment because I just saw the images of fujimoto's projects you talk about in the 2nd part of the video and I have been srudying very closely fujimoto's projects for the past 2 months. It's a kind of an obsession lol.

    thanks those tips really helps me . rn i dont know what im doing . i lost track of my project and keep getting rejected by lect while others are prepared to do final board and model . i dont even have a firm concept to begin with . im frustrated . the only thing that i could do is to not be sad and just rise again and come back stronger , fight and never think about failure. just keep going and improving

    • @danialdan426
      @danialdan426 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      btw this is all because of my laziness to do case study and precedent study. i dont really think that much about concept and take it easy to begin with . now im regretting it dont be like me guys

    Thanks for your video! Your content is so inspiring! I always enjoy watching your videos to find ideas and rendering tips. As a landscape architecture student in Hong Kong, I’m stuck when moving to the ‘complexity’ part sometime as I don’t know how to deepen the meaning of my designs and develop creative forms. It would be great to know more about the ‘complexity’ in your coming videos!

    • @SurvivingArchitecture
      @SurvivingArchitecture  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much I am glad that you enjoyed the video :) I know what you mean I get stuck too sometimes, when I get stuck what helps me sometimes is to do the plan or landscape the normal way and then start to add 'complexity' to it. Another thing is to look at precedents and understand how some of the great landscape architects are creating deep meaning in their work. A good precedent would be the 'Musee du Quai Branly / Ateliers Jean Nouvel' the way the landscape compliments the building is amazing. After you found a good precedent really look at how he uses the features that create 'complexity'. If you ever get stuck you can send me your work and I can give you feedback survivingarchitecture@gmail.com

    This video is incredible. I have visited this for many times within a year since I saw this. In the last part, you said you would give tips on adding complexity to architectural plans. Do you plan to do that?

    • @SurvivingArchitecture
      @SurvivingArchitecture  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you think so! Turned out it was a little more "complex" than I anticipated but I will definitely make one in the future!

    Hey if anyone can help me out,im having a hard time grasping this “concept” idea.
    Does concept really have to only have 1 keyword and everything design will be relate back to the “concept”
    I get it if I have to show it in terms of forms but how about space planning? does it have to relate too?
    How far do we have to follow this concept thing in our design?
