@Naught Guile She was! She really was! I was so sick the first time I saw this, a little after New Year's, and I was hurting so bad because I was laughing so hard
"Make an appointment with us at 'Margot's Mad, Mad, Mod Interiors'. Our distressed woods include: Worried Walnut, Melancholy Mahogany and Pecky Cypress That's On the Verge of Suicide." Now THAT'S comedy writing. ;)
I have been binge watching for hours now, Lucy was Gone before I was born. However, she was Ah-Mazing in everyway!!!! RIP Mrs. I Love Lucy n ✨🤍✨🤍✨🤍✨🤍✨💖✨🤍✨🤍✨🤍✨🤍
This is so funny. I am glad I was able to watch both The Lucy Show and Here's Lucy, when new. Her real life kids were her teen kids on Here's Lucy, and Gale Gordon was her boss, but he had a different name and was employer of a real estate agency. Lucy worked for him. The substitute secretary in this ep was a back stabber. Lucy sure disguised herself good as the decorator, and it was so funny. She made herself look "funky mod". When she was the carpet cleaner though, you could tell it was Lucy. Mr. Mooney should have recognized her. This show is a classic.
It wasn't a real estate agency it was an employment agency. And Gale Gordon played Harrison Otis Carter, the owner of the agency who was also Lucy's brother in law.
I watched The Lucy Show as a child, funny, I don't remember it being this amusing. Though it must be said that Vivian Vance could never be replaced, as this series shows.
I'm 39. Lucy has and will always be my idol. She was class, respectable, talented and funny. Someone who was an avid animal lover and knew what she wanted and went and got it. Never will be another one like Lucille Ball. I miss the old time comedy - thank God we can still go back to the 50's and 60's when comedy was funny and genuine. That era was special in its own right because it was original and hilarious. I was born in 84, many years before but, I will always watch The Lucy Show or I Love Lucy over anything modern now a days.
I don't think Ruta looks beyond her real age if you just look at her beautiful face. Of course the suit, hair, make-up etc. make her older looking comparatively to a 31 yr old today but she fits perfectly for a 31 yr old back then.
Brilliant writing . Ruta Lee is perfection . Barbara Morrison is fun. But it is Lucy, who nails it again, with her "Margo of Margo's Mod Interiors'. (Imagine the rush as she changes into "Margo" backstage, with a live audience waiting for her! I can't even! ) Audrey :: What do you have in distressed wood? Margo: well...We have some walnut that looks a little worried." But it's the ending that got me. Where Lucy offers to cancel her vacation for Mr.Mooney-- "That is, if you still want me..." I don't know why, but i got a little emotional . The obvious love and respect between these 2 master actors. Rest well; we miss you. 😞 A+++++
So is the reason the audience laughed at 1:05, when she said she'd better be getting back to Pasadena, because of that song from the sixties, the Little Old Lady From Pasadena?
Well, yes but partly. Back in the 60's shady used car salesmen in southern California used to have an expression about used cars that were lemons and the mileage rolled back that "a little old lady from Pasadena only drove it to church on Sundays." This was because of a myth that old men in Pasadena (which was a well to do area) died and left their widows a powerful low mileage car that she rarely, if ever, drove such as a Cadillac or a Lincoln or an old Buick Roadmaster. This is where Jan and Dean got the idea from for the song in 1964. This episode, which aired in 1967 basically was making fun of both the myth and the song.
I have a strong hunch that all posters here are >45. I watched "The Lucy Show" as a child, first-run. This is why no one mentions the great Ruta Lee as the guest star in this episode as Audrey Fields. Ruta was a major guest star on comedy shows of the 1960's and '70's. She had an Eve Arden-esque comedic persona and got off great one-liners. she was especially good on the game shows of the period. Ruta is still alive and remains severely underrated!
I will agree Ms Lee is underrated, in part because she was equally adept at comedy and drama but she is/was no "patch" on Eve Arden. Ms Arden was truly one of a kind, tho when I was in school I had a classmate who unconsciously or maybe consciously patterned herself after Ms Arden.
I always liked Ruta Lee in whatever part she played. I enjoy episodes of several different sit-coms she played in during that time period. Very beautiful and funny, but she played her roles with intelligence, never as a "ditzy" blonde.
We need more funny humorous Americans like Lucy and Mr Mooney I. America! Get rid of those stern, mean ,dry characters from our nation! The point is! Cheer up our hearts!
@@sarahcrews2544 Very true! Mary Jane Croft did indeed play Betty Ramsey the Ricardo's neighbor when they moved to Connecticut. She also appeared on an earlier episode of I Love Lucy as Lucy's old classmate Cynthia Harcourt in the episode where Lucy and Ethel mistakenly pledge all that money to Cynthia's charity.
@@metropromise5915 Someone in a movie once advised a character to speak softly....folks will take what you say more seriously. I wonder if Lucy's training included advice that was along the lines of "shout, sound frantic, you will seem to be funnier"? Of course, if you study Lucy's characters in every series she starred in, her characters do a lot of talking over other people. And obviously, you can't talk over other people without raising your voice.
Private deçretary yo the President of the company. His secretary went on vacation and when she returned his ex secretary became hers. Why didn't Mr. Mooney ask"Well why di
Was anybody ever funnier than Lucy? She's my favorite!
The writing is superb, and just good clean comedy.
Lucy's entrance as the interior designer is hysterical! Ciao!
@Naught Guile She was! She really was! I was so sick the first time I saw this, a little after New Year's, and I was hurting so bad because I was laughing so hard
That whole section was just perfectly done by Lucy! What talent!!!
She just walked in like she owned the place, and I absolutely love it!😂👌
She always knows how to make a fabulous, show stealing entrance!
The look of HORROR on gale gordon's face at 1:52 when mrs.winkler said - I rather enjoy a little action once in a while. lol 😂😂😂
Lol, "She's about my age, you know, when I was younger!" Love Lucy logic!
😂😂😂
Lucille Ball is the all-time Queen of Comedy.
Why do I think that I still love Lucy? Why do I still think that it was the sweetest time in my life when I watched her in her shows?
She's charming as hell and the show is somewhat a pleasant time capsule at this stage :)
Lol "When you're not here, it's my vacation!" -Mr. Mooney
Hi bb
Shirleyte
Awesome
Another absolute masterpiece!

Lucy was the greatest.
Lucy can NOT change her face ! LOL !!!
No matter who she tries to play !!!
I like how she’s still wearing eyeshadow and false eyelashes when she plays the Jose Hernandez character.😂😂😂
50 years later and still hilarious. I own all 6 seasons of "The Lucy Show" as well as all 9 seasons of "I Love Lucy".
I THINK THE LUCY SHOW WAS GREAT SHE WAS IN HER PRIME. GREAT TIME. BOY I MISS THEM
chuck davey hipkds

@emmalice donder They're both on Amazon! We have them both!

No, but Gale Gordon came damn close for a male lead

Very funny and enjoyable TV show. I remember when this was on television

I like this show better than the first one👍🏻 Lucy’s from my hometown!✊
This made me soooooooooo happy.
Gale is an underrated genius. Thanks for posting
Hilarious 😆 stuff. 🤩😍 Lucy, Mary Jane and Mr. Mooney. Ruda Lee guest 🌟 Star.
Every episodes are so refreshing and enjoyable !
Lucy, Mary Jane Mr Mooney and company 🤩☀️😍
Krazzzy, hilarious Lucy.
Great show!!! This is one of my favorites.😁
Yeah I’ve seen so much of I love Lucy over & over that I was thrilled to find these here a few years back!
Dad thinks all of them make this a first class show
So, wonderful comedian.💖💖💖💖
Ruta Lee is only 31 years old when this aired! She looks older than 31.. it’s amazing how many young actresses looked older back then
I know, right? It's crazy.. (Kimmy Hawk)
Back then, young women dressed and acted like adults.
I don't think Ruta looks beyond her real age if you just look at her beautiful face. Of course the suit, hair, make-up etc. make her older looking comparatively to a 31 yr old today but she fits perfectly for a 31 yr old back then.
Mainly because she was so poised and mature, which we associate with someone older.
Wow, I would have guessed at least 40!
Ball - Gordon duo is top

I just love Ruta Lee! ❤️❤️❤️
MY favorite show you have to love Lucy
Lucy and her "kooky capers", LMAO! 🤣
So funny how it's obvious that it's Lucy! If this happens in real life, that person will be committed.
Unfortunately yes. How times have changed.

Is that Caroline Applebee from I Love Lucy?
J H Yes 😀
No, Doris Singleton played Carolyn Appleby on I Love Lucy
I’m pretty sure Mary Jane (character played as) her neighbor when she moved to the country in I love Lucy show.

In Lucy meets the Beatles Berles Ruta Lee played her self
When did Lucy meet The Beatles?
Actually that scenario was discussed as a possible episode but never came to fruition. That would have been something!
Jose Hernandes😂.
Bank Manager Mr Mooney took his responsibilities seriously.. the Bank came ¹st & Lucy came ³rd
That replacement Secretary gives off a Mad Men vibe....Although Mr. Mooney is no Jon Hamm

Mr. Mooney would make a much better Bert Cooper.
Mr Mooney is a different kind of ham though an entertaining one.
Lucy aint no racist -they never say nothin about her -i will love her always -

Mr. Mooney almost lose his job , because of lucy's jealously
Lucy is beautiful
Who the heck is Pasadena by mrs Winkler please explain im confused
That’s how I felt about my Twin Georg and the third Party situation. I wanted to protect him from her.
