1 Hour of super ultrawide HDR sunsets and ambient music. 32:9 8K HDR (7680x2160).

  • Over an hour of sunset time-lapses rendered in 7680x2160 (32:9) 12-bit HDR (PQ), and ideal for super-ultrawide HDR monitors, such as the 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G8 8K.
    Original footage was 8,256 x 5,504 14-bit RAW images, and processed in the highest bit depths and quality along the entire path to the final video, which was uploaded to YT in 8K HDR 12-bit.
    The optimal way to view this video on a 5K (or 8K!) 32:9 monitor is with the 8K HDR stream. This means you will need to be using the Chrome or Edge browser, and your hardware will need to be able to decode an AV1 video stream efficiently.
    Looking for a version of this video in a different aspect ratio?

      @@howtocookazombie I think the HDR on the G9 (none Neo) looks best with local dimming off. I know it sounds crazy, but the normal G9 only has 12 dimming zones. leaving it on means when the zones change brightness it's VERY noticeable. Make sure the windows HRD slider is 80%-100% to the right as well.

    • @howtocookazombie
      @howtocookazombie 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rakugothdajjal527 The dark area was because the monitor was broken. I got a new one now, that works. I didn't used HDR until now, because I had no monitor that supports it. When I activate HDR in Windows, all colors seems to loose saturation and everything looks like there is a gray shade over it. Is this normal?

    • @rakugothdajjal527
      @rakugothdajjal527 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@howtocookazombie Yes, it does make windows itself look a bit off, but in content it looks great. Some games allow you to just turn it on in game, some require you to have it on in windows first then in game. I would definitely play with it because i use it in any game that supports it now. It's also a must to play with the HDR sliders in game till it looks right. Don't forget to keep the windows slider mostly to the right if not maxed as well. Getting close to even 50% in windows makes most things look like garbage. The new Guardians of the Galaxy game looks GREAT in HDR on this thing btw.

      That should be doable, with footage like this. It would take about a day to render it, and then YT would need up to a month to transcode it to 8K HDR / AV1. I don't know what YT would do with 6000x1200 though, it may be safer to use the same aspect ratio but in full 8K, i.e., 7680x1536.

  • @fallin5427
    @fallin5427 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Don't get me wrong, this is a really good video, But I do belive there is something a bit wrong about the terminology. In the film industry this would in fact probably be considered "8K" (because the Horizontal resolution is almost 8,000), but outside of the film industry (and to the common consumer) a more accurate terminology would probably be something like "duel 4K" because 8K usually implies a resolution of 7680x4320 (16:9) and greater, which is double the verticle and horizontal pixels (for a total of quadruple the pixels) of 4K, whereas this is just double the horizontal pixels and the same amount of verticle pixels.

    • @GalacticWarthog
      @GalacticWarthog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You're right, the terminology is not quite consistent. But when I rendered this from the software, I did choose "8K UHD" as the format, and then set the aspect ratio. If you can imagine the black bars above and below that you would see on an actual 16:9 8K display, maybe it would make a little more sense? I saved as 8K because when I uploaded 5120x1440 to youtube, it didn't play back in that resolution (the stream was 1080p). I discovered that I had to upload in 2660p minimally to get it to work properly. But since 8K support is pretty universal, I decided to publish in that. Overkill for now, but who knows, perhaps oneday there will actually be a 32:9 display that is, as you say, two 4K screens side by side.

      Unbelievably, it's in East Texas.... An unusually beautiful spot. A small, quiet and mostly undiscovered lake featuring consistently mind-blowing sunsets.

    50% of 8k is NOT 8k.

    • @GalacticWarthog
      @GalacticWarthog  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@moravianlion3108 so when you watch a 4K movie at 2.4:1 aspect ratio, which is only 74% of the full screen, is that not 4K? The convention is that the horizontal resolution defines the 8K label. That’s just the way it is.

    • @moravianlion3108
      @moravianlion3108 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GalacticWarthog How do you call actual 8k resolution then? 8k+?
      Don't you think the convention is wrong then? Imagine getting set of tires for a car and getting set of 3, in case of discussed topic here, set of 2. "It's a convention, just buy another set, if you're so fancy!"
      Let's fix the convention and call it 6k. Which proportionally represents fully this resolution. Not so hard, is it? But corpos will always try to sell you less for more.

    • @GalacticWarthog
      @GalacticWarthog  หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the horizontal resolution is 7680 then it is 8K.

    • @moravianlion3108
      @moravianlion3108 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GalacticWarthog I'll call it 6k, as that's technically correct. And also used by professionals.

    • @GalacticWarthog
      @GalacticWarthog  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@moravianlion3108 Unfortunately the fact remains that the only way you can see it in full resolution, is on a screen that has 7680 pixel width. Good luck finding a "6K" screen with 7680 width.

    WHY did you speed them up!? youre real-time videos are ideal_these are wasted_the hyperspeed induces anxiety❌

    • @GalacticWarthog
      @GalacticWarthog  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I didn't speed them up, each frame is a 1s single exposure. It's a timelapse, not a realtime 8K video. I took those photos in the last couple of years before I acquired an 8K video capable camera this year....
