- In this episode, we leave Mexico behind as we make our way to the border of Guatemala! It's time for a whole new country and we know exactly where we want to go first: the incredible volcanic caldera that is Lake Atitlán. The journey to the lake takes a long day and a lot of patience and the payoff is beyond beautiful. I’m traveling to Guatemala in 2 weeks was thinking of renting a car and driving from Guatemala City to lake Atitlan but many videos I’ve seen have advised not to do it lol. I guess I can see why

What documents do you have to have to get into Central America?
Depends if you are traveling by car or not. For yourself you typically only need a passport. For the vehicle we have only needed the title and registration, and sometimes proof of insurance (from the country you will be traveling in).
