It's $2500 Australian. About $1600 US. Cheaper than a refurbished RE201 and really high quality. The people who complain about price are the people who can't afford it. Same people who complain about Gibson because their Epiphone is better, Fender Custom Shop, hand made tube amps etc etc etc. It's a massive effort to bring a product like this to production. Well done Echo Fix!
I do not like that Echo fix is raising prices. I understand that prices are too high in Australia and new zealand, but such price politics can be shocking for usa or european customers, who may prefer other product if price rise up to the sky. It is actually 2000$ now, 100$ more in 2 weeks👍

People seriously complain about the price? It's obviously not for some random coffeeshop gig. It's for the studio. You can spend 5 times on a microphone. If you think the digital emulation on your favorite delay is close enough, it's obviously not for you. You can't say the value isn't there just cuz it's expensive
I agree. Plus... I'm pretty sure that all the components, all the high quality parts, the enclosure, the hours that went into it to develop this unit to be the top quality unit it actually is AND the fact that the people working for this company will need something to eat every now and then as well as we all do, knowing that a product like this will never sell as good (in terms of quantity) as a well thought out pedal that'll fit on every pedalboard..., all add to the fact that you just can't make this thing for much less than they'll sell it for. And people, remember, if you don't want to spend this amount of money, or if you simply don't have the money (like me), don't buy it and find something else you like. Come to think of it. I used to have two old Dynachord tape echo machines. Didn't cost me a thing. They both didn't work. Nobody was interested in them. I made one work, using some parts of the other. I'm not a tech, but I did it anyway. I liked my Boss DM-2 better for the delays (it was back in the mid to late eightees), but I used the Dynachord (I think it was the Echochord Super) to boost my signal for solo's. It was the best and creamiest solo boost I ever had!!! Yes, it was a bit noisy and a bit large and heavy to take it with me, so I got tired of it and I bought a simple Boss pedal instead. That's what you did back in the days. But if you want a real tape delay with a great sounding pre-amp (just my humble opinion) and you don't want to spend all this money on this beautiful, new, blue, Australian gem, then search the web for a Dynachord Echochord Super Tape Echo (I've seen seem from +/- 200 to 400 dollars), get someone to work on it, or do it yourself if you know how to, and if the sound won't convince you, you're pride will, 'cause there's nothing more satisfying than to make something old work like something new. This unit is so cool, and what a great demo! Thanks Andy! Tempting to sell a couple things to fund this inspiration machine. Seems like an "all day pedal" to me :)
Virr who, me? no, i just don’t see what difference it makes. i mean we all know australians have a chip on each shoulder, but so what. btw fulltone made a tape delay some years back, no longer in production.
Man I love my Echosystem but the only thing its missing is a good tape delay emulation... Now after hearing this, I dont think any emulation will come close.
Wow, I didn't think anyone still made tape heads. This is way out of my price range though, so I'll have to stick to a Catalinbread Belle Epoch for my tape echo sounds. Wish I'd never sold my Roland RE-501 though. I bought it second hand from Andertons back when I was a student and they were a small back street shop. It was sat on the counter by the till, and I think I paid £200 for it. It was in mint condition with a spare tape as well. I played through it so much, layering loops and even using it live as a glorified chorus pedal for bass guitar! Had to sell it to pay for food though :-(
Tape delay is the best. Im getting old and I grew up with them. I've had them all including the Fulltone, tubeplex by Mike Battle. He spoke to me once for an HR on the phone. I had stumbled on a tube ep3. He said it was a prototype. Absolutely the best sounding unit I've had but things go. We lose jobs etc. So I want to get back into a tape unit. These seem amazing but they're pricey. I'm confused on the mods. For over 2gs I have to send it out for mods? What's that all about? The multi head thing is cool but can also get messy. What's the longest delay with one head on? It's a big gamble. Super cool unit though. I'm just bring picky. Please do a vid to address my questions. We need clarity. Im pretty sure this would nail the wicked game sounds. SOS Andy
Great questions, the mods I had were in this early demo model and they now come standard! The product page below has some great answers to all these questions including tape head combinations (head 3 is longest at 800ms). Sure these cost more than a pedal but are cheaper than any vintage Space Echo or EP and more reliable if you consider every piece on this unit is new: motors, caps, heads etc. Let me know if you can’t find all the info here…echofix.com/products/echo-fix-ef-x2-tape-echo Thanks!!
Young Bugs you get analog and digital. Digital gives you more decay time, it’s a nice feature that they didn’t have to include but I’m grateful they did.
Fair question, I got one very early in the production run. These “mods” are now standard. From their site: “Now ships with vintage EP Guitar Pre-amp, Real Spring Reverb and DSP Digital Reverb (with a switch to switch between DSP Reverb & DSP Chorus).”
Tape will always have some hiss unless the device has noise reduction ( I believe the RE-301 had it) but this is by far the least noisy tape echo I've owned!
Yep, the RE-201 I had was may more reliable then the Fulltone SSTE I used. Even though Mike improved the cartridge I still think this way is superior and looks way cooler.
Brent Harmon This is more of a Space Echo unit. For rich dudes and studios. No sane man would gig one. No denying how cool it is, gotta hand it to them. It’s gorgeous.
i don’t think it’s overpriced for a well made real tape delay machine. it might be overpriced for that sound if you can get close with e.g. Belle Epoch Deluxe.
