Hi Harri! That's Ray Cooper on percussion. This whole concert is amazing, but this may be my favorite song. Billy Preston really takes us to church. RIP George. RIP Billy.
My sister was a young teenager when the Beatles came out and she was in love with George Harrison. It broke her heart years later when he passed. I saw this tribute on tv and recorded it to show my sister. I didn't tell her what the concert was for but when she saw Harrison's son she new immediately who it was.
I bought this on DVD when it was released (about a year after the concert), and it came with two discs, one the theatrical version and the other a straight front to back concert with all the songs that were done, which was longer and more complete than the first disc. Terrific tribute to George.
If you listen closely, you can actually hear it on the original recording after the first few bars of the extended outro. It gets really prominent closer to the end, especially if you know to listen for it.
The musicians here were billed as "George's band". They're not only George's friends but all of them (though not all at the same time) were involved in his recording projects and/or or performed with him in concert.
Love George Harrison ( rip) such a great tribute to him 💯👍👍🤘🌟😊🙏 love everyone that's singing to him but especially his son is so beautiful good for him long live rock and roll😊❤ and his legacy he will be missed dearly😢 he's with My Sweet Lord thank you God 💯🌈
At the start of this concert, I recall that Ravi Shankar says to the audience, that "George is with us tonight" -in spirit, and so, he watched his friends and family celebrate, and not be sad. (later comment from Harri)
This is one of my favorite GH songs. Such a beautiful message from a truly wonderful human. So nice to see Dhani paying tribute to his dad. Thanks JKClark and Harri
Oh thank you Hari for reacting to this epic performance, for and iconic individual, honored by his closet friends , wife and Son. Love the nod to Hey jude at end! Great request and reaction! ❤
Love this song, especially the original with George. With the original recording I use it for meditation purposes; just sit and listen, and drift away.
The tamborine player is Ray Cooper,,,,,,,,,Raymond Cooper (born 19 September 1947[1][2]) is an English musician who has worked as a session and road-tour percussionist. During his career, Cooper has worked and toured with numerous musically diverse bands and artists including Elton John (as a duo and as a member of his band), Harry Nilsson, Billy Joel, George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, David Gilmour, Roger Waters and Art Garfunkel. Cooper absorbed the influence of rock drummers from the 1960s and 1970s such as Ginger Baker, Carmine Appice and John Bonham.
Who can tell me who plays the bluesy lead guitar (black hat in the second row???) after Billy started singing. Certainly not Clapton, he just bows his guitar (rhythm) and has his big solo in the middle section. I couldn't tell with the other songs. Thank you for your feedback!
@@donnadubyak6504 Thank you very much, actually obviously because of Traveling Wilburys, but I didn't "trust" Jeff Lynne to play the lead guitar (was in the second row) before the long Clapton solo. I wish you a lot of fun with all kinds of good music!!!
@@donnadubyak6504I don't think that's right. Lynne is on acoustic for this song. The slide solo in the middle is played by Marc Mann, who is also wearing a dark hat.
My favorite performance from that concert. Had my name on the list for the dvd when it came out. You should check out Eric Clapton tribute to Jeff Beck. Song titled "Cause We've Ended As Lovers" incredible guitar playing by Gary Clark Jr.
I met George in 1977. I had a mouthful of potatoes and I did a spit take, potatoes spewing all over the restaurant table. George smiled, he got the joke. No potatoes landed on George.
Isn't it a Pity and My Sweet Lord did NOT appear on Beatles albums. They are from All Things Must Pass, George's solo masterpiece. Ringo appeared here and there on the album, John and Paul did not.
The end of the show was a beautiful rendition of “All Things Must Pass” where all of the artists came together at once to close it out. George’s son Dhani must have been in a deeply emotional state with all the love and respect for his father by those on the stage and in the audience that night, and for the remarkable music he created. What a night, Harri you really should do justice to this Concert with multiple reactions. There were so many songs performed that were frankly, better than this pick. Harrison Forever! 🤘
Ray Cooper on overly-theatric tambourine, as usual. I know the guy is respected etc., but I've been Ray Cooper-ed out for years. Excellent concert though, one of the best in my meager collection.
This concert was amazing except for Prince being disrespectful to George and Tom Petty by show boating his pentatonic scale over and over again, making it about himself instead of paying tribute. Eric and Billy had long relationships with George.
Both Eric and Billy sang great. Although I would've loved to have heard Jeff Lynne get a turn on this song. But I can't be greedy because Jeff was featured on several other songs at the show.
George Harrison was one cool cat.
The entire Concert for George is just brilliant!
Hi Harri! That's Ray Cooper on percussion. This whole concert is amazing, but this may be my favorite song. Billy Preston really takes us to church. RIP George. RIP Billy.
You must watch the complete concert. The audio was produced by Jeff Lynne.
Try to hold back the tears when Ringo sings "Photograph"; which he wrote with George!

George was the most spiritual…
He still is ;)
I bought this on DVD when it was released (about a year after the concert), and it came with two discs, one the theatrical version and the other a straight front to back concert with all the songs that were done, which was longer and more complete than the first disc.
Terrific tribute to George.
Lumberjack song.
I was at this concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The whole show was incredible. George was genius
Adding the na-na-na outro of Hey Jude was a nice touch!
Some may be interested to know the na-na-na of Hey Jude was 'borrowed' by Paul from George ...
If you listen closely, you can actually hear it on the original recording after the first few bars of the extended outro. It gets really prominent closer to the end, especially if you know to listen for it.

such a magic cast of people up there, kudos to Eric for pulling it all together to honor his friends memory
The whole evening just seemed appropriate and "right" to honor George.
Monty Python even took part.
must have lost my comment,,,,,at about 2;09 there's a kid in white shirt playing guitar...that's george's son
The bald guy on the tambourine is Ray Cooper. He was a studio session percussionist for many years, and friend of the Beatles.
"While My Guitar Gently Weeps" from the same concert is a Eric Clapton Masterpiece !!!! Best performance of that song I've ever heard.
This whole concert is incredible !! This song was off All Things Must Pass ❤

Another fantastic song from George Harrison, he wrote so many but stood in the shadows for so long
Well said Billy P.
Oh thank you Hari for reacting to this epic performance, for and iconic individual, honored by his closet friends , wife and Son.
Love the nod to Hey jude at end! Great request and reaction! ❤
Love ‘All Things Must Pass’. Now that’s what I call an underrated album. IMO it definitely holds up to the better Beatles albums.
Wonderful song.
I am so happy The Beatles all did solo work.
Especially George and Ringo.
Love this song, especially the original with George. With the original recording I use it for meditation purposes; just sit and listen, and drift away.
Using it for meditation so fits the spirit of George ❤
Billy Preston brought the life. I once saw him blow The Rolling Stones a-way.
Incredible version with Billy singing, LOve ur reaction... that slide wakes ya up huh?
Wow 🤩 this was awesome♥️♥️

He is simply a genius ❤
The bald percussion guy was Ray Cooper! He's great! He played on A LOT of stuff!
One of the guitarist is George's son
Amazing how much he looks like George!
This was such a great tribute concert! Thanks for the reaction and the pick.
Excellent reaction, Harri, and equally excellent request, JK Clare!
Billy Preston's voice's warmth
Another great request!
You must see the whole concert, very moving.

Jeff Lynn of ELO

"If people could wake up from the dead, on the adulation people give them" Karen would be immortal.
Ray Cooper is the geezer on the tambourine
Great reaction, Harri. Love to see you excited like that!
Ray Cooper is the name of the tambourine (percussion) man and yes, he is a master.
Ray Cooper is the bald percussionist, he tours with clapton all the time... He's incredible
First time subscribed, great channel
Dhani Harrison is practically a clone of his father.
I met George in 1977. I had a mouthful of potatoes and I did a spit take, potatoes spewing all over the restaurant table. George smiled, he got the joke. No potatoes landed on George.

Have you received my song request about Ferlin Husky Wings of a Dove?
This concert was amazing except for Prince being disrespectful to George and Tom Petty by show boating his pentatonic scale over and over again, making it about himself instead of paying tribute. Eric and Billy had long relationships with George.
That was a different show 😉
The highlight of the night was Prince's guitar work on While my Guitar Gently Weeps.
That was a different concert. It was for George's Rock and Roll hall of Fame induction.
@@melaniesweeten5401 OOPs!
That song would deserve a better singer, Clapton doesn't sing at all.
I thought his singing was great.
No one better to sing that song than Clapton!!
Eric was perfect
Both Eric and Billy sang great. Although I would've loved to have heard Jeff Lynne get a turn on this song. But I can't be greedy because Jeff was featured on several other songs at the show.
