Welcome to Ensenada, Mexico! Known for its port and cruise ships, Ensenada is a Mexican street food and seafood paradise. In this Mexican street food tour of Ensenada, we started with a moon fish soup, then headed to eat at one of the world’s best street food stalls, ate some smoked fish, and finally finished this tour with the original fish tacos. What a day of Mexican street food in Ensenada! #Ensenada #MexicanFood #streetfood
Thanks to my friend Jeffrey Merrihue ( / jeffrey_merrihue ) for organizing this trip. And to Scott Koenig: / agringoinmexico and Paco Perez: / aquiestexcoco for arranging this tour.
La Opah Del Güero - Moonfish restaurant - On our drive from Tijuana to Ensenada, in Baja California, we stopped just outside Ensenada to eat a unique and rare soup made from moonfish. It was delicious, and incredibly comforting.
La Guerrerense - Sabina Bandera is a culinary hero. Anthony Bourdain called her stall the best street food in the world, and he was right in every way. Her warm personality is what will first invite you in - she’s one of the friendliest ladies in the world. That paired with her unbelievable seafood combinations on top of tostadas and sauces your tongue can’t believe, and you truly have one of the best street food stalls in the world. It was unbelievable, I’m still dreaming about the tostadas at La Guerrerense.
Ahumadora Pacifico - Smoked Fish - Next we stopped around the corner for some Ensenada style smoked fish.
Tacos Fenix - Fish Tacos - Known for serving the original fish tacos, there is no way you want to miss this Mexican street food treasure in Ensenada. It’s simple and delicious and nothing more and nothing less than you want it to be. Fried fish, fresh tortilla, salsas, and cabbage.
Tacos Corona - Fish Tacos - Additionally, across the street, there’s another fish taco stall that some mentioned they loved as well. And so naturally we needed to try both. Tacos Corona were amazing, fresh fish, great tortilla, and again, a myriad of delicious salsas.
And that completes this amazing Mexican street food tour of Ensenada, it was an incredible day or dreamworthy tacos and tostadas.

This episode brought back the memories of Anthony Bourdain. His flair, his style, his knowledge and his level of understanding were just beyond this world and yet his humbleness was second to none. He had the knack of finding some of the best culinary jewels around the world which were nothing more than just small wholes-in-the-wall. We miss you Anthony...RIP

@@GreyswyndirI ‘m not a patron of American fast food joints myself, but they are extremely popular all over the world from Paris to Thailand. It’s a shame that foreigners seem to think American food is all about the American fast food, but most of us don’t. There are GREAT American foods, most of them originating with the multitude of different immigrants & cultures that abound here, and the cuisines evolve to become uniquely American. There are loads of family run restaurants serving up generational family recipes, unfortunately, they are a dying breed where I live in Nor Ca. But plenty in NY, in the major cities….

I would LOVE that smoked opah! I love the smoked salmon and trout, swordfish, halibut we can get here. Now this is an example of a food that takes a long preparation to make, and Mark appreciates it. Does he appreciate aged cheese (months to years) or balsamic vinegar (up to 12-20 years) or wine, which takes a great deal of finesse and knowledge (not for the home cook). I’m sure he appreciates fermented fish sauce and gochujang, which takes 3 yrs & TLC- but it doesn’t translate the tastebuds he has for peasant food n Asia, Mexico, Philippines, elsewhere, which he likes better than western food. He doesn’t really get western food.

    • @Greyswyndir
      @Greyswyndir 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@jeanniebrooks - You're spot on. My family came from Italy and a lot of our food has become uniquely Italian-American. The humble steak sandwich has turned into a phenomenon on the east coast, now known mostly as a cheese steak sub. Pizza is an American staple, as is the German Frankfurter (Hot Dog). I think we've got Jewish influence on the Hot Dog as well. Mexican food has become very popular in the past 40 years, as well as sushi, once uniquely Japanese, but Americans have embraced it with enthusiasm. I'm sure I'm missing many dishes that have become part of our culture.

Just came back to California from a trip to Ensenada after getting the inspiration from this video. I made it a point to stop by La Guerrerense and have the amazing Campechana tostada. All I can say is WOW! Simply amazing! I highly recommend eating there. I am already planning to go back soon and will be eating there again for sure. Thank you Mark Wien's for introducing this gem to me and the world. Love your vids! Can't wait for your next Mexican food tour video!

There's a lot of love between Mexicans and Indians when it comes to food -- change a few ingredients, and we're basically the same! Rice, beans/lentils, cumin, coriander/cilantro, hot peppers, grilled meat, served with a flat bread (tortilla/naan/roti).
I'm Mexican in the US, and I know some Indian dudes who will eat Mexican food all the time because you can't get great Indian food where I live.

My god I'm sooo jealous and hungry after watching this. I will say I've been to Ensenada twice each time on a cruise. The first time I had some amazing street tacos for a dollar. The second was a day trip to La Bufadora. It was there I had the most amazing life changing seafood. It was large clams grilled over wood coals, topped with pico de gallo, some sauces, cheese and shrimp. It was one of the most amazing things I've ever had. That was about six years ago and I still dream about that clam concoction. It was some of the freshest seafood I've ever tasted!

The food in Ensenada is unique Thanks to the fishing activity, the Mexican tradition and the influence of the Chinese and Japanese migrants who settled in this area. Even in the Guadeloupe valley, very close to there, there is a great viticulture by the Russians who established themselves in the early 1900s and now their grandchildren produce great brands of wines. We tried La Guerrerense last month on a cruise. It was AMAZING! Had to be the highlights of our trip! We all had the shrimp tostadas then the chef recommended the Campechana and had to order 2 more!!
Hands down best shrimp tostada and Campechana ceviche tostadas EVER!!!
I added the peanut oil and tamarindo salsa to my Campechana. We ate there at 11am and no long line! So our group ordered more as we pleased.
    We will be back!!!!!

Hola to the Mexican 🇲🇽 My wife was here.. She speak Spanish as Puerto Rican.. I will also like to visit this place someday soon.. Mexican also prepare superb Lechon.. Besides tacos and enchiladas.. Habanero is my favourite pepper.. I'm famaliar with some Mexicans in Hamburg Germany where I reside.. Lovely lot.. Hard working, Honest, well Humoured and yes..I'm married 👰 to Hispanic from South Bronx.. 🤣 They're them.. No Drama's 🎭.. Independent people..
By and large.. Dancing, Eating, Joking, Boozing and Romancing.. Usually they don't leech around like many other's.. You've wealth or nothing.. I mean people of my generation as 50+
    But 🤔
I've no idea about those narcissistic kid's on social Media and smartphone 📱 🤣 I have pleasant impression of Hispanic from my own generation..

There’s no such thing as speaking language “Mexican” or “Puerto Rican”... both speak SPANISH, they just from different regions so of course everyone Latino uses different choices of words as well as accent, food, music, culture etc... it’s not unique to Latinos but look at it globe wise!

But both countries speak it differently
      also both cultures are completely
