    Wow, this could have gone really bad if the fire hadn't been noticed so quickly. There's no visable drywall in this building. Just a huge pile of kiln-dried firewood.

    How can you send men to the roof with no tools to open up and vent?

    • @badgertrader4887
      @badgertrader4887 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The fire was contained to construction materials on the rooftop . No need for vertical ventilation.

    • @Rangerfan-gz1rx
      @Rangerfan-gz1rx 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was materials on the roof not the building Itself that was burning, and I saw at least one guy with a axe anyway.

    Those ladder trucks have a 500lb. weight limit at the tip. 4 FF's loaded with equipment should not be on the ladder at the same time

    • @midwestfire
      @midwestfire 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know about that... The bucket in the Tower weighs a lot more then 500ib's and the other can be used for Aerial Rescue... I have got to see them used in many car accidents where we have to reach out over a canyon or cliff edge. We lower all of our equipment and a Firefighter first, then more Firefighters and EMTs/Paramedics (Or Nurse in my case). Then we tie the car off to the tip of the ladder so that we keep the car from sliding... So yeah, they can handle more the 500ibs.

    • @46fd04
      @46fd04 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@midwestfire I was not talking about Towers. I've never worked on one and have no idea about their limits. We use Smeal Aerial Ladder trucks. We have been told by Smeal the weight limit at the tip is 500lbs. and not to ever permit 3 or more personnel on the Ladder at the same time. Have you ever seen a crane tip over because of too much weight? If the car on the cliff suddenly slipped off, and weighs approx. 3500lbs., I bet it would tip your Ladder truck. I would never allow a car to be tied off to the tip of a Ladder.

    • @midwestfire
      @midwestfire 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@46fd04Have you ever seen a crane tip with weights of 3500 pounds??? Do you know what a rotator is?

    • @46fd04
      @46fd04 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@midwestfire A tow truck rotator is stronger, and designed for, holding up and lifting thousands of pounds. An Aerial Ladder truck is not a rotator or crane, and should never have a 3500lb car tied off to it. When I referred to 3500lbs, I meant your Ladder truck tipping over, not the crane. Large cranes tip over when their weight limit and boom angles have exceeded their design limits.

    • @46fd04
      @46fd04 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@midwestfire Ask your Mechanics who maintain and repair your Ladder (not the truck) if it is a smart idea to tie off a car hanging over the side of a cliff. Ask the truck manufacturer too. I bet both will tell you not to do it.
