It may have been an open fire escape at one time & later enclosed or added. Seems like it may not meet code these days but perhaps at the time it was okay to wrap a stairwell with firewood.
That is what we are wondering if the building that is on was vacant or there was people living in there and if so we hope also pray that they all got out safely and none of the first responders got hurt
Boarded up windows at ground level. No lights in any of the windows. Bad neighborhood. Yeah it was "vacant". Then how did the fire start? Prolly crackheads. They find ways in. And they shit everywhere. Your tax money hard at work. For what?
The Chief should be disciplined for allowing an interior attack on a building that has already had a significant fire and is bordered-up. "Risk nothing to save nothing."
Great job KCFD! That's the way jobs should be handled! Get inside the structure and fight from inside out! Thanks for sharing!

The bottom right window looks like it’s been on fire before too

Because nobody has ever been found in boarded up buildings that have already had a fire.
There are tons of homeless in these buildings, you should be disciplined for telling real fireman how to do their job. Jack off express.
That's Car 104 out of station 23 on Independence Ave.
