I'm not saying all of your videos should be this format, but I like that this one was. I found it therapeutic and meditative. Watching you tear down then rebuild your busted car is a pretty good metaphor for life in general. Things happen, stuff breaks, pickup the pieces, repair what you can, replace what you need to, put things back together, and make the best of the situation.
Aye, it does not fit all kinds of content, but for this rebuild it was a really nice way to do it, and honestly was a very relaxed Saturday viewing experience. Next to that, it's just great to see you guys building back up again. Both Bens have had setbacks, but the rebuilds are inspirational and "That's life" to watch.
Just my 2 cents, but I really enjoy content like this in the car community. There's too much immediate gratification content that implies building your car like this only takes a weekend, when it takes months, or even years to progress. Not only does it present a more realistic time/work expectation, but also gives a delayed gratification that only comes from maturing with your car projects and being proud of it. Love that you guys are only a couple hours away from me as well!
Ben you do not give yourself and the team enough credit for how entertaining the cinematography and editing skills are. Whether its 10 min or 2 hours, your content is worth watching.
tbh, I think the editing was overkill and annoying in the beginning(of their channel, not this video), but they really have a great balance now. Clearly these guys are great at filming and editing, but finding that balance is not always easy.
I think that’s something that gets lost to a lot of viewers. This level of editing and cinematography takes an insane amount of time to do at this high of a level.
its incredible how fast the average joe (everyone starts here) can get at something once they have done it over and over. I did a clutch job on my car once, took us about 2 days. and about a year later we had my buddies (identical) car done in an afternoon. I imagine the next time i do it itll probably go that much faster.
I love how you always use setbacks like this to improve the car. Remarkable mentality and one to imitate myself. Lordy this must be the third time you've painted the engine bay!
This was probably the single best car video I've seen this year to date- with no disrespect to MCM, Bigtime, Speed Academy etc. This was just magnificent. Please do more of these!
The Honda Civic. OMG what a car!!! The scope is endless. Hondas are so reliable, thoughtfully built and simple enough to still make sense, AND have so much choice of tuning parts. Love em!
This has been one of the best videos on your channel thus far! Engaging and informative. I am happy to see you were able to fix the car, looking forward to seeing it back at the track. Good job man!
@@jevaughnbrodie we'll get them fixed finnaly got it to the tuner today so hope for the best these days that everythign will be fine. time for upgrading the pistons for you i see, it is an opprotunity not all bad head up and on we go
This video is such a gentle reminder of why we all fell in love with G&G. This is such a back to basics video, and is great in the mix all the chaos currently in automotive youtube. To the Bens: Thank you for editing with so much heart. The love, patience, and thought you put into your builds is what is so relatable to us all. You guys don't give up, yeah there have been a lot of cars through the years, but seeing you guys pour your hearts into MIA and Lana is such a treat!
I recommend you either get a cap or cover up the mil-spec connector in your engine bay whenever you have the engine pulled. Those contacts are very exposed and easy to bend. It would also prevent dust from getting in the connector. PN for what you'd want is MS3181-24NA, and the brand doesn't matter (Amphenol is good though). Also that engine bay looks awesome with the fresh paint on it. 100% worth the time it took.
I know you guys probably won't see this comment but I half to say that I absolutely love your guys content you guys have such great videos but something I think always amazing me is the music you guys choose it's always great and fits every single video.
This video was both visually and audibly very well done Ben. It’s been awesome watching your skills grow not only as a content creator/editor, mechanic/fabricator, AND driver over the years. I feel like this will be a video I come back to watch just for the vibes alone. This is truly your magnum opus. Cheers!
I recognize this may not be the most efficient way to make content but I get so much out of these extended build videos, all of these detailed looks into your optimizations and how you've gone about actually installing them is so valuable
Most of the video was just fixing the broken stuff from the accident. Adding new stuff is icing on the cake. And if you're only doing one video a week, I enjoy having a longer episode to look forward to on Saturdays.
This is just car asmr, super chill vibe, very good fitting music, lovely to watch , and best video work video on the canal. I love it. After watching i'm chill and in a way better head space than i was after a shitty day with my car. Please keep making these kind of video's. And hope a road trip video is coming soon ❤❤❤❤
24:21 *please* put some grommets on those lightening holes that you're running wire through. that *will* cut wires and you *will* tear out every hair in your head chasing intermittent faults. you've taken so much care and done such nice work everywhere else, id hate to see you have a rough time cause of something simple like that
Screw those folks with low attention spans, if you really like car, you'll love full length videos like this.... I love to see workmanship and parts come together on a beautiful racecar..
As a person who is just getting into cars because it is neat and my husband is a huge car person I found this video to be very enjoyable. I'm so sorry about the accident and glad you turned to the right and saved both you and the other driver more damage and or injury then going left and t-boning the other car. It's a sad situation but glad you are okay, and hearing you mention this wasn't your normal length videos made me want to comment. I really enjoyed this video, we watch your TH-cam channel and I enjoy them but this one showed everything. It was longer, yes, but I liked seeing every detail of what you were doing and why. Coming from your not normal audience, normally I'm electrical repair, this was great to watch and kept me watching to see what you were working on next. Thank you
This and the last one hour video on the genesis of this Car are two of my favorite TH-cam videos of all time. They are both perfect and so entertaining. Thank you 🙏🏻 ❤
Dude, this was such a huge amount of work. Good for you for making this into one dope video instead of a 10 part series like some folks would have. Would have loved to see a "greased lightning" parody with the amount of work you did.
Those other TH-camrs with a 10 part series: 2 episodes of them cleaning and stripping down the car, followed by 5 videos of them grinding paint and rust.
Loving that your being precise and measuring that's the most important part of repairing crash damage. If you ever need any advice hit me up and I'll do whatever I can to help. P.S. Get yourself a tool called a tram gauge best cheap but accurate and effective tool for measuring frames.
This video just gave me a lot of hope in my building, I have a 99 EX civic that has a little crash in the front, it wasn't that hard as your car, the civic looks fantastic, I love the job that you did with the radiator and everything, This is an amazing channel, Well done!! Greatings from El Salvador, love ya boys!
Probably one of my favorite episodes, you can see how much you care about the civic and the pride you take putting it back together is awesome! I enjoyed the hour long episode
Absolutely amazing video quality and it’s so nice to see the rebuild and also the small improvements. This is my favorite channel on TH-cam and one of the only automotive channels I actually anticipate watching. Love your content and the effort you guys put in, can’t wait to see how it performs. 🤘

One of my favorite G&G videos to date. Loved the Format and more relaxed style of rebuilding your car. Would love to watch all the "boring" sides of the video as its just reality in building a car and i find it enjoyable and therapeautic.
you guys are doing great on the Aussie accents, I fully expect you guys to start having a bunnings snag and choccy milk (or brew of your choice) during smoko
honestly one of my favorite videos from the past several months, I love watching you guys wrench on your cars and the long form content is refreshing! Keep up the good work Bens!
After watching you guys for a couple years now and seeing days at the track from your perspective, I finally went out and did my first HPDE event over the weekend. Thank you for the amazing content the G&G team puts together for us viewers!
ive been following this channel for years now and its probably one of the only channels that can hold my attention. i never find myself waiting for you guys to upload, but i know when you do, regardless of the length, ill be watching it, and ill be enjoying it
just appreciating this video like everyone else here. instead of just doing the minimum to fix a mistake you didn't even make you really took the time to take apart the entire thing and make it even better. really what we should aspire to do in life
This is my favorite civic, always has been, probably always will be. Not that I’m a huge Honda guy or anything like that, but something about the purposefulness of this car and your continued development of it just scratches my brain in all the right places.
I enjoy all the Gears and Gasoline videos, this was no exception. Great format for this one. I like seeing individual nuts and bolts come off and get replaced. also enjoyed the bench close-ups showing each tool Ben uses.
This was such a good watch, sat down with my wife to watch this Saturday evening and it was one of the best YT videos I've seen for a long time Hope it performs well, make the long edit worth it!
Bravo Ben...amazing work, time and effort put into that Civic. Hope you keep it till the end. I've seen you strip, prep and repaint that engine bay twice. I may just be a viewer but that civic has some real sentimental value ❤
As others have said, i really like this content to show what it REALLY takes to build something. The immediate gratification for other videos feels wrong, this is amazing stuff!
You guys are absolutely amazing to watch. I will watch all your long form content because it's not only well done, but you keep trying to educate while you go. Please continue to to this kinda stuff. Thank you from NC.
Good work Ben. This is the reality people rarely get to see behind the curtain. A solid 40 hours of work shown in less then an hour. You killed it bro 😎
I think this is the equivalent of a breakthrough here where you have made the leap from simply someone with a camera and knowledge of video editing to a filmmaker and artist. 10/10. As a viewer, whatever you have done here is your own style and it was so enjoyable to watch. Otherwise, I loved seeing all the PPE in this video. Let's make PPE cool for our generation! If you want to be innovative and lead that effort, get some PPE sponsors involved in your TH-cam channel and racing.
This is the quickest hour that passed in a while. You guys make such a great videos I am so impressed. I love the build and I aspire to be like you guys one day. The civic looks AMAZING as usual and I know it is really fast on track as well. It feels like yesterday you guys were doing Civic and Miata roadtrip and now the civic is crazier than ever. Literally should be studying for my second board exam in med school but instead I watched this. :D Keep it up Bens! You guys definitely make my Saturdays exciting!
It might not be content that you should ALWAYS make but If you guys have enough content to fill in weekly (as you seem to like to have and as you are able to pull off so far) I thoroughly enjoyed the long form of this video. It was well thought out and gave more in depth look (even if it was time lapsed which is okay with me) of what it takes to plan out, execute, pivot, and complete your rebuild and upgrades. I personally enjoy the bigger picture as opposed to rushing the visuals and context to have a "complete build" in 15 minutes. This video was great in that it was true to what you had experienced and it wasn't just another "TH-cam content video". Great job. I LOVED IT.
As always, god-tier video editing! I think occasional long form videos break up the pace in a nice way - specially when they're this therapeutic and easy to follow along.
The craftsmanship and cinematography is genuinely top tier, these guys are incredibly talented. Thank you for such an amazing video, really love this style of content. Wishing you to beat all your track times!
I love it that you guys have such a variety of video types.. race track days, road trips, upgrades, and these long form build videos where so much gets accomplished. These long form videos are the ones that really motivate me to work on my own car.
Very happy that you were able to get everything fixed; and more happy that you're okay after the crash. Looking forward to seeing you back out on the GLTC grid!
Great video, Ben. Beautiful work and great job finding the gift in your crash. With anything that happens there is a gift; it just don't come in the package we expect sometimes. I'm recovering from getting hurt in a motorcycle crash and it has helped force me to slow down, reprioritize, recenter, and get prepared for next season. Keep up the great work!

Unfortunately, not everything in life can be buffed out.
It’s great, but for growth it’s not the best, and we probably won’t get videos every week if they are this long
Love this format but I do wish there was a bit more of their signature asmr wrenching with lower music. Overall this was fantastic to watch.
yea dont want them crashing more but enjoyed this one too
seriously the most watchable of all the TH-cam automotive channels right up there with speed academy.
Love speed academy too. Both channels stayed true about themselves.
I love both. Definitely my 2 favorite channels.
Gears and Gasoline in my humble opinion is better
Nightride is my favourite but g&g is close 2nd

One key thing i have learned over the last 2 decades: if its awkward or expensive, work on it on the floor. It cant fall if its already on the floor

This was an incredibly relaxing one hour of a rebuild. Total ASMR. Love it Ben!
This video feels like a M539 restoration video for Honda, turned up to 11, am saying that with tons of praise and respect. Keep it up!
