🕊love this interview. It really helped put Autism in a good perspective for me as a 57 year old women who believes she is autistic as yet undiagnosed. Thank you 🙏🏻
I do find that I am the one to make the effort to get together....so that rings true, but then also really against anything I would have expected of autistic people.
Very good reflections on Hans Asperger. The debate is similar to the place of director Leni Riefenstahl in cinema history. We all condemn the ideology, but fail to see, in her case, how the representation of sports, especially football, is nearly copying the esthtics of her 'Olympia'. In her and Asperger's case, and I am sure in so many others' (the name Heiddegger spontaneously jumps into my mind), we all should face history and the tough debates around it, and, eventually, move beyond the mere terminology.
38:00 Hans Aspergers can only be buried if the term aspergers disappears from language. And it is just turn into ASD level 1. Because high functioning autism, PDD NOS where diagnoses in the DSM4 to. It wasn't just the syndrome named by Lorna Wing. Lorna Wing she meet Aspergers in 70's and did have different opionons. He knew girls got autism but only classic autism. He didn't believe that girls could be little professors. So what turn into aspergers after he died he didn't see women could get that which was wrong. So he was died when the term was first used. Then it became a diagnoses but there debate and uncertain about the Nazi link. But didn't have any evidence so name the syndrome after him. It only till 2018 evidence arrived. But by then the term aspergers wasn't a diagnoses anymore it all became ASD. I know you know all this because specialist interested is autism it's self. But being the term is his surname. You can't forget the name of person it came from.

I agree that autistics shouldn't have to offer anything to the world, as being a good human being is enough.
