I'm in NZ and have just replaced my kings awning with a Bushwakker 180 on my canopy, i am very happy with it , I went with a 180 as I have a rooftop tent and I prefer it to open out the back.
Awesome mate im still happy with mine i use mine all the time they now make the 270 with a zipped access hole so you can enter the rooftop tent from the rear a few of the companys are starting to do that now
Awesome review. And nice mention about the kings one. The price gap between the kings and Bushwakka is massive and I was torn, but I reckon this is the way to go long term. Did that toolbox door hit anything? I’ve got a rear boot, not a barn door so wonder how it would go.
Gday nathan i was wondering all the same things but ive been really Impressed with the 270 the canopy door doesnt hit at all and for the rear door im not sure all depends how high it opens up but from the awning frame door must not exceed higher than the frame if that makes any sence 👍
Gday mate ill send you the link for the video i did explaining it i bought the 270 awning brackets from norweld th-cam.com/video/d6yAsdoILF0/w-d-xo.html
Gday mate i didnt mount it to my fooftop tent check out this vid th-cam.com/video/d6yAsdoILF0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AENLj85z8mSEqFAC This is how its mounted brackets supplied by norweld
Gday mate im not sure exactly how far i would have to measure it are you wanting to know how far unpacked and set up or mounted packed up in its bag sticking out from the car
Yes i have mate it handled really well but for peice of mind you can tie it down and even add extra poles you just have to think everything has its limits 😉
Gday Andrew not at all i had the same question when i bought it i put it to the test ive had all kinds of weather throw at it and im still impressed with my 270 i love it 🍻
Gday mate thanks for checking out my video i have been geting asked alot of questions on how ive mounted it ill be doing a video on how ive mounted the clam shell tent and the awning im happy to sent you pictures on messenger gold coast drone vision the awning is mounted on mounting brackets that i purchased from norweld witch they bolt on to the cross bars that the tent bolts on to i also purchased them from norweld the cross bars bolt onto the unistruts on the canopy hope that helps have a merry Christmas 🎅

Nice review mate. I’ve wanted one of these for a while ever since using an Ostrich Wing on a borrowed vehicle. Cheaper than an OW and I like supporting Aussie companies. Not many of the other 270s are free standing like this, either (Darche etc). I’ve still got old faithful Kings but will upgrade someday. A little worried about another 27 kilo or so up top, when the 105 is probably already over GVM 😂 Nice to see the Expedition 134 sticker too. Nic’s a good mate of mine. Another great Aussie company.
@adrianlane2520 awesome mate what a great product hey i hoping they will bring it out wirh the zip access hole so i can enter the rear rrt take a look at the camp boss 270 awning impressive almost identical exept the have light bars on 3 of the arms and they have the rear cut out for the rtt access i recon bushwakka will end up going the same way i hope 🤙
Hey mate I've just brought the same rtt an I've got the new model 270 awning with the d zip for rear access whats it like setting poles up on rtt an having awning out? Cheers.

Gday mate i didnt mount it to my fooftop tent check out this vid th-cam.com/video/d6yAsdoILF0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=AENLj85z8mSEqFAC

Hi, how far out does it come out from the car?. Not many companies mention that measurement. Thanks.
Gday mate im not sure exactly how far i would have to measure it are you wanting to know how far unpacked and set up or mounted packed up in its bag sticking out from the car
@goldcoastdronevision hi,
When it's setup, how from the car to the edge of the awning outwards.
Hey bud when i get the chance ill measure it and ill get back to you
Hey mate, have you had it in fairly windy weather?
Yes i have mate it handled really well but for peice of mind you can tie it down and even add extra poles you just have to think everything has its limits 😉
Does the water pool much when it rains?
Gday Andrew not at all i had the same question when i bought it i put it to the test ive had all kinds of weather throw at it and im still impressed with my 270 i love it 🍻

Do you need to pin those poles down?
Like it there is winds
Gday jamie Ive had it in big winds it handled it well but i recommend to tie the poles down for peice of mind
Spewin the back of the awning doesn’t fold out a complete 90 degrees and in-line with the back of the car.
Gday mate try tensioning the rear first hope that helps
I mounted mine so it tensions up nicely with the back of the roof rack. It covers the back door area of a Prado.
