Easy to change temperature by voice control.. Say I'm warm temperature goes down 1 degrees. I'm cold it goes up 1 degree.. Or just say what temperature to set.
So even easier then a button or dial.

I have covered 2k in my D4 R Design First Edition (all options). It's the most comfortable & safest car I've ever bought but your right about the sluggish gear change in the individual default comfort driving mode (although this sharpens up in the dynamic setting). The only thing I'm considering is adding Volvo's polstar optimisation to sharpen up the gear change etc. Even at the discounted price of £695 it's not cheap but probably worth it as I purchased the car for long term XC40 ownership.

Can’t hurt purchasing the Polestar add-on, especially if you’re going to keep the car for a while.

Strange, just watched another video where it was in a direct two car test, the other car was BMW X1 it just shows how opinions can vary so much, the other tester said the XC40 was as good as the BMW in the handling department !

Duh, opinions are custom tailored to a person's tastes which are a product of their experience and/or wishful thinking.

Great review James. Nice car. I saw a couple of XC40s at the NI dealer and its fabulous. Perfect size for a small crossover, great quality, and looks a bit different. The interior is excellently laid out although I wish heater controls were separate too. What happens if the display gives up? The 1.5 petrol engine is a 3 cylinder and I hear its best suited to town driving. No great surprise that the diesel is the best all rounder.

Cheers Andy - glad you enjoyed the review. The display is covered under the three-year manufacturer warranty, but could be annoying if it breaks in the middle of a long trip! The three cylinder is an interesting proposition, but as you said, it's better suited to town driving.

The 1.5 has 156hp. I've driven the Mini Countryman 1.5 that has 150hp and on the motorway it coped perfectly well, more than adequate so I would imagine the Volvo would fare the same.

Hi. Many thanks for the info on your Mini Countryman drive. Torque levels should also be high so perhaps it's strong enough. It would not be a problem for me as mainly city driving anyway. How did you find the drive of the Countryman?

      T5 is a 3 cylinder?

@@Showmetheevidence- Hi. The new T3 petrol turbo is the 3 cylinder engine. It puts out around 150bhp.

Just needs to produce more than 17k's worth and then include ventilated seats with a/c and they'd sell the heck out of them!

I mean, biggest problem of the interior: you have to focus a little bit extra when changing the temeperature...

    • @rob4123
      @rob4123 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Not a problem, I just use voice command button on steering wheel & say "temperature 18 degrees" and hey presto!

Nice review. I put down a deposit for mine in March, it's due to arrive in December! Seems a long wait for a standard production road car?

Glad you enjoyed the video Robin and congrats on the new car! It is a long wait, but it just shows how popular the car is. You’ve chosen well.

I would agree. I bought one last week (August 2020) and absolutely love it. It’s my third Volvo but first ever SUV. I love how it handles, rides, and functions. It never argues. So, I’m ok with saying it is the Best SUV out there despite the fact it’s my first one. Prove me wrong! Happy motoring!

@@krisreaves15 I totally agree with you. My second Volvo and first Volvo SUV also - an Osmium Grey Inscription, lovely colour. The car is remarkably fun to drive, almost addictive in many ways... I am very happy with it.
