Same here makeup just makes my face look worse. It also made me feel like I put dirt on my face and then it was a pain to take off. My skin is healthier without it.
OMG you are the youtuber I've been looking for. I've been searching for black girls who don't wear make up, because I've been feeling the pressure to fit in with the crowd. I'm just so happy and excited for your channel, because Im also interested in gardening. Thanks for creating a youtube channel.
I've never worn make up and don't want to. I normally just wear nude lip gloss or lip balm. My mother always wore a full face (foundation and all) every day. All my friends wear makeup too. So all the women I'm around do, it's just not for me.
Your history with makeup is very similar to mines. Growing up the women in my family didn’t wear makeup. I never really had interest in makeup at all. I went through a makeup phase in my early teen years but that ended quickly lol. Now I prefer no makeup face...sometimes I’ll wear mascara, but usually I’m bare face.
i totally get you! i'm also not into full faces. i only wear mascara occassionally. tbh, your skin looks great so you not only do not need foundation, it will probably only leave bacteria/dirt
I am right with you! I don't wear make-up and it's refreshing! Every now and than when I have to go to a wedding or holiday party I'll throw on some lip gloss but that's about it!
Most days I would rather go without. I like lip gloss. I feel self-conscious if I wear makeup--because it doesn't feel like me sometimes, and in a different way if I don't--because I feel sort of obligated to wear it. I feel kind of generic looking when I wear it. It does look nice, but I think we sort of look nicer without all that stuff. :). I just wish it wasn't an obligation and I think it kind of is. I find it refreshing when I see a real face. You are so pretty too. I wish women got to see more of other women with our natural faces.
Color matching for foundation seemed like a nightmare! Lol and I was more into getting clear skin than makeup, so I never got into foundation and what not. But I recently wanted to go full bare face (no mascara, eyebrow, etc), so now I really have to make sure my skin is popping.
You are certainly beautiful babes! Many wish they could rock bare face. I don’t wear any at all but lipstick.. It also goes with what you stated(witnessing) in the home, my mother didn’t either growing up . Society puts way too much pressure to be someone different, which isn’t authentic..
The thing you said about your mum is exactly like me . I feel like if you see your mum/aunts/older sisters wear makeup you probably more likely to wear makeup.
my skin is super sensitive. Any type of mascara or eyeliner really itches my skin all day. And I have a bit of acne scarring, which I have always tried to cover up, but it seemed I'd always end up with more pimples! I gave up wearing makeup 2 years ago, and eventually I realized, its more about your personality than your looks anyway. You are so empowering! And your skin is beautiful! I subscribed
I quit makeup cold turkey what feels like eons ago now. But back in middle school I wouldn't be seen in public without my (extreme scene kid) makeup. I felt so unbelievably insecure without it. Now I think it's just a waste of money...
I love your story cause it similar to mine. I've never been into make up, my mother never wore make up that much, never felt the pressure to do it. In high-school I found it so strange that my peers would wear make up like why? We're so young but as I grew older I started to learn that women wear make for different reasons like ance and skin problems. However as I'm getting older I'm beginning to have an interest in it because of how it looks on other people and I wonder how it would look on me. I'm definitely looking on to it and I want to experiment. I'm 24 by the way. But this video just validated I'm not the only one. ❤️
I'm so glad the video was relatable. I actually bought a bit of vegan, ethical makeup recently and plan on doing a minimal makeup video soon! You might like it. :)
i’m currently going through the process of minimising the amount of makeup I wear. I used to wear SO much, but these days i’ll do my brows, concealer and some mascara. Today i’m rocking no makeup!
Sometimes it's just the feeling of heavy foundation, right? To be honest if you ever feel like having a little coverage, I recommend a BB cream. It's basically a moisturizer with a light tint on it, and if you have a good one, you won't feel it. But as long as skincare is maintained, you really don't need it, and if anyone asks, just say you're going "French-style".
We had the exact same history with makeup. From the no make up Aunties down to the birth control clearing my face. I, too, feel less polished than the beat faced beauties who have a daily look. I have yet to find a lightweight, full face coverage that doesn’t immediately cause a million tiny bumps to surface. I’m 45 and would love to look “professionally polished” and I would love to even my tone and complexion but make up doesn’t seem to be the best fit for me.
It's tough to find a good foundation that is lightweight and provides good coverage. One that I recently tried is Clove + Hallow, they have a powder foundation that I've come to like. I would definitely suggest looking into vegan or organic products - that may help with reducing the bumps. 💚
I realize this was a year ago and you may have already found a lightweight foundation or base but Alima Pure makes an incredible mineral based powder that has only 4-5 ingredients w/ buildable coverage. They have a vast range of shades options as well. It’s great for special occasions or everyday use. Check out Alima Pure if you are still on the search!
Ik people say women look "More Professional" with make up (Whatever that means🙄👀🤦🏽♀️) Overall we shouldn't give in to those stereotypes. Do what you feel the most comfortable in. No makeup is cute too especially hydrated skin with lip balm or lip gloss🙌🏽🌌 I like using blush, Eyeliner, mascara & concealer every now & then but I barely use it. I just do it for fun whenever I'm feeling meh. I actually didn't wear makeup at all during school until social media came along & I found the whole "No makeup makeup" thing going on. I wanna get back to the same place that I use to be in & not wear makeup. It's a beautiful thing to just live & just be you no matter what everyone else is doing. Since quarantine I love doing skincare way more. Instead of all that focus I put into looking nice with makeup I'd rather use that focus on my mental health, inner health & happiness. Living life in the now. Also minimalism.
I love the shift from putting in effort with wearing makeup to strengthening your skin care routine and focusing on your inner health. Minimalism totally ties in with all this.
Your face is beautiful ❤ my daughter is 22 and she never wears makeup because she says “I don’t need it” with a sassy demeanor 😂 and I say “you better go girl” it’s many women and young ladies who feels most beautiful without makeup. I went through a period where I loved makeup and I still like it but nowadays in my late 30s I’m just going all natural and it’s so freeing to be yourself.❤
I dont wear makeup either. I may do eyeliner once in a blue moon. But other than that its a no for me. I find that in office settings, women who wear makeup are treated more differently and are seen as more professional than the ones who dont. I do not like the maintenance of makeup constantly. Tried it a few times, and its a nuisance. I feel that when black women wear makeup, we are judged harsher than others. Esp darker skin women. I try to dress and look subtle. Something like your look.
Hi I'm new to ur channel! Just wanted to say I wore so much foundation to all of my classes and recently, I started getting into skincare and eating better. Now, I just wear some eye makeup and spot correct but that's about it. I spend 5 minutes on My natural makeup instead of an hour. My skin has improved so much
I tried to wear make up growing up well eye liner and my mother-was not having it i heavily got into it at 39 I’m 42 now and yes I wear it but not every day I can go outside bare faced and not trip
Nothing wrong with that. I didn’t wear it for years- I’d say other than sporadically most of my life until the last 5-6 years. Now I do and I love it. I love skin care too. Love the artistry but I think it’s perfectly okay not to do it. Your skin is absolutely glows gorgeous - you would not benefit from foundation. Your skin looks like it is flawless and even without it.
@Ri you wish but no I am not jealous of people who lie and telling people they don't wear make up but they do. By the way I don't have jealousy in me compare to you it's a stupidest default. You are the only one jealous here!!!

I totally agree with u. I once tried makeup and than realized my natural face looks better lol
Same here....😁😁😁

Same for me. My mom wears makeup everyday. But it never really was my thing. I've tried it. Don't care for the effort and time it takes.

Not wearing makeup forces you to take care of your skin.
So true!
you’re absolutely stunning regardless
I really hate how men don't have to worry about stuff like this and they're accepted in society

Thanks, Manda! So true, makeup can't cover up an ugly personality! You are beautiful inside and out. 💚

Some people really rely on makeup for confidence. Glad you quit! 💛

Yes! It’s a nuisance. I feel exactly the same.
I don't care for makeup either
If I had your complexion I'd never wear makeup.

Omg this is my community!
Welcome, friend!
You look good both ways. I’m thinking about wearing some makeup but minimal. Not the contouring etc.
Thank you. Just a bit of light coverage is good. Whatever makes you feel beautiful!!💛
You are beautiful without makeup! It's a beautiful thing to be confident in one's own bare skin.
I kept looking at your bookshelf during the video
you have Memoirs of a Geisha and 1984 and I have those same books in my own bookshelf
Classics!!
I tried to wear make up growing up well eye liner and my mother-was not having it i heavily got into it at 39 I’m 42 now and yes I wear it but not every day I can go outside bare faced and not trip
I only wear makeup on job interviews . Good video.

i mean i dont wear make up but i still think i look good with make up id say i look good with make up and without make up
I notice in your later videos that you started wearing makeup. I think you look very beautiful without it. You really don't need it ❤
I dont wear makeup it's a waste of time and money and is bad for your skin.you look amazing without makeup. I am a minimalist and low maintenance
Thank you!
Your eyes are super wide, please advice me how to take care of my hair if it was similar to you , how to pull that hairdo
Thank you! I have a couple of videos talking about what products I use on my hair. :)

You’re gorgeous you don’t even need it xo

Thank you so much!! 😭😍🤗
You are so beautiful
Yeah but you don’t really need it. Pretty either way.
my sis said she dont wear make up for men she said she wear it cuz its fun hehe
Lip gloss and eye liner is makeup. So you do wear makeup.
You wear make up but not full of it. Women who don't wear make up don't use any product.
