    I just got the R50 and the Nisi 9mm f/2.8 RF lens. Absolutely amazing combo for shooting real estate! A huge upgrade from the Canon M50 and Laowa 9mm f/2.8 ef-m lens.
    I like the full auto mode on the R50 as it looks amazing on the viewfinder and from photos I've seen. But I have the Nisi 9mm f/2.8 manual focus lens. I can't take a picture in full auto mode for some reason. Are there settings to allow this?
    Also wondering if you can do a comparison between 3 hdr bracketed vs full auto mode assist photos? I'm imagining closer results than expected. Blended hdr photos are tough to beat but this will make for an interesting test.

    I got the r50 and am going to return it and go for the r10. The small buffer in raw and the super small grip is rough. With a longer lenses it’s hard to use. Plus the r10 has the joystick for af which I find myself missing when trying to change subjects

    I'm looking to get into filming/field recording motorsports events- you had me with this until you mentioned it overheating/losing the battery after an hour 😔
    Could I get a model rec for this same purpose (beginner filmmaking, meh build quality for higher quality specs), maybe a little more expensive and I'm assuming much bulkier, but with the intention of filming cinematic-style footage for the better part of a day nonstop? I've been eying obsolete cinema cameras and that seems like the opposite extreme to this, so maybe I need a middle ground.
    Your channel has been immensely helpful while I research these things btw, thanks for putting this information out there in a video essay/review format.

    Hello,
    I was wondering if you now how to remove the red rectangle when recording a video? I feel like it is disturbing and takes the focus of the images … Also I used to not have this at all with my old canon rebel t3i. Thank you in advance.

    I'm looking at the R50 to replace my 6D. I really want modern autofocus particularly for taking pictures of my kid. I also want an articulating screen. Don't care much one way or the other about the viewfinder since it's just another screen. Mostly these days I just use my phone, or Nikon W300. I lose too many pictures with my 6D due to focus capabilities. I really miss the speed generally, but also the color and sharpness from my 6D when using my other options.

    I have been thoroughly spoiled by Canon's cinema cameras with built in ND filters, so I think the greatest thing about my R5, or any R camera for that matter, is the Canon EF to R adapter that allows me to have ND behind an EF lens 👍

    • @rjakiel73
      @rjakiel73 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's grand but you're still using an adapter for legacy lenses on a modern body. Sure the lenses are great but you're still adapting legacy lenses. The RF/RF-S system may be the new hotness but there are next to no native lenses first AND third party compared to other systems. Canon jumped the gun and in doing so alienated a lot of people. Sony E, Leica L, MFT all have excellent bodies, great features and comparable and in some cases superior features for price as well as excellent native lens selection.

    • @nativesugarshack9328
      @nativesugarshack9328 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@rjakiel73 I really don't understand your beef with adapted EF/L glass, it's the obvious choice for the R5. Superior to RF glass even if for no other reason than I already own them and didn't have to sell them cheap to by a new RF trinity, and I get superior usability with ND behind the lens. I did buy the RF 16mm 2.8 just to see what all the RF hype was about, should have passed on it. I expected a 16mm RF prime to be sharper than my EF 16-35mm at 16mm, but it's not.

    • @rjakiel73
      @rjakiel73 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nativesugarshack9328 I have nothing against EF glass. What I have is an issue with Canon forcing RF/RF-S down everyone's throat with nothing special to offer in terms of first party lenses (except the stratospherically priced ones), no third party native mounts and then basically saying buy our EF adapter for $100 because we have nothing of any real noteworthiness to sell you, nor do any third parties, for our now standard system that's been out since 2018.

    It's a shame Canon hasn't opened up the RF mount to third parties like Sigma and Tamron. Even though they've now got cheaper RF mount bodies, their affordable lens selection is pretty limited.
    I think they lost a lot of users to other companies as a result, including people such as myself who used to use Canon DSLRs.

    I am not sure if I invested in canon faithfully since they now ban native rf third party lenses...still ef efs third party with adapter ....I have both m50 mk1 and r6 mk1 with 20 lenses..both crop and ff zooms and primes.
    I kind of regret not going sony...but color science af ease of use menu touchscreen reliable built is better in canon .
    Sony smaller bodies that might break confusing menu but can customize and got more custom buttons than canon. Also open system to third party native on top on sonys own native glass. But you might need to upgrade body its not future proof like new canon r6 mk2 r8 r50 r7...if you shoot 4k 60 sony still cripple crop...it would pointless then overall output to go sony then with native crop 1.4x ...it's double its apsc.

    Meh… Panasonic G9 for the same price and you’re light years ahead on available native first and third party lenses, image stabilization, better video options and pretty darn good AF with 2.4 firmware update. Canon screwed the pooch by ending their EOS M line prematurely.

    • @thetoyota86perspective54
      @thetoyota86perspective54 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Even with firmware update the G9 is no match for even the M50 when it comes to AF. The M50's DP AF is amazing. I use it to shoot sports and it's very good.
      With the R50 it's a no-contest.
      And to be honest if the AF on a camera is no good, for me that's useless because any camera can pretty much shoot landscapes and cityscapes but what separates the good from the great is the AF

      R50 is another league....

    • @rjakiel73
      @rjakiel73 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@zegzbrutal have to disagree. It's an RF-S body with limited native mount lenses. Relying on an EF adapter/converter for a new body is silly. Those lenses that are native and higher quality are limited to first party and stupidly expensive. No third party lenses. You also can't say the RF/RF-S mount is a new thing either. They released the RF in 2018. Lastly the R50 no IBIS just in lens for those lenes that have it. G9 still a superior product overall for the same price.

    • @zegzbrutal
      @zegzbrutal ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rjakiel73RF lens IS is better than most APS-C/FF IBIS. That's the least concern for Canon cameras.
      The only criticism for RF/RF-S mount is the lack of ultrawide and cheap f/2.8 /f4 zooms. Primes wise RF non-L lineup is capable with the 16/24/35/50/85/600/800. And Yonguno is bringing back out the YN85mm f1.8. 3rd party lens is a matter of time.
      G9 is running Contrast Detection AF which is limited in low light. R50 running DPAF II is a totally different beast. Having reliable AF-C is different from having good AF-S.

    The R10 offers much better value for what you get. R50 lacks a second dial and has a smaller hand grip. Bayer colour array, 15fps instead of 12, UHS-2 SD Card support, it's no competition, the R50 is designed for people that want something better than a smartphone camera but don't want to learn photography.
