LOT Polish Airlines is a carrier that I don’t hear very much about - which can be both a good thing and a bad thing. It’s good because I haven’t been hearing horror stories about terrible experiences. It’s bad because I don’t hear many people talking about their experiences. Wouldn’t everyone be talking about LOT Polish Airlines if it was a really amazing product?
Anyway, I decided to give them a try myself. The routing was an 11-hour jaunt from Los Angeles (LAX) to Warsaw (WAW), and the aircraft was a 787-8 (registration number SP-LRD). I was seated in 16D, an aisle seat in the center section of the forward economy class cabin.
It was...interesting!

Polish Airlines are one of the most safest ones... so, no idea who told you to avoid them and based on what merit?
Maybe because of times when LOT was flying soviet airliners which, well, weren't the best quality. Also LOT is 11th oldest still operating airline.
I've had some really shitty experiences with them. For instance, I spent three weeks trying to get through to them over the phone trying to rebook my flight when I was in Georgia. I paid for an extra bag but when my flight was delayed and I had to be put on Turkish, I was charged $300 and never reimbursed despite going around and around and around with customer service. I couldn't check in online for any of the 6 flights I took with them over the period of 4 months. My knees pressed against the seat in front of me and I had zero elbow room on my flights. A kept being seated next to heavy smokers and they reeked. The only way I managed to get in contact with LOT airlines was by getting my husband to give up his lunch time at work to contact them while I was overseas trying to contact them and it took him 2 or 3 lunch times calling and sitting on hold.
Sadly, not the worst airline I've dealt with but I am so freaking done with them. The cheap flights aren't worth it.

@@runningfromabear8354 you will always find someone that had bad experience with any airline. LOT maybe is not the best but I would not say avoid! But its not their fault that you were seated next to heavy smokers hahaha just unlucky

LOT - you are under good wings :) and remember that LOT's pilots can land smoothly and safe without wheels!
And don't forget that polish pilots fought for GB in WWII and they were the best. Squadron 303.
In return British government gave pol ish pilots 3 days to leave GB and they weren't allow to participate in Victory Parade after they fought for their freedom.

I'm coming from a family with a strong LOT traditions (my mother is a stewardess and grandparents used to work there as well) and it feels weirdly satisfying to watch ppl in comments saying so many nice thing about their experience with Polish Airlines ^^
I had a 9 hour flight on LOT airlines from Warsaw to Beijing and I enjoyed it very much
I had a flight from Chicago to Warsaw, and it was very good!

I am wondering who and why told you to avoid LOT. I think you should check safety record and ,make review. . You should have your own opinion which is NOT based on somebody's ignorance and lack of knowledge.

@@sanspotter I was in Seoul / Korea by LOT in the economy class for 400 € - from Hamburg via Warszaw and return (2016)! On the long route way on board of the "Dreamliner" - I had two seats on my side without a passenger also (WAW-ICN). The service was 👌 on board.

I'd love to fly LOT to Poland.
LOT is always fantastic, and their business class is excellent.
LOT is a national Airline of Poland, financed by the Government, how unsafe can it be? Also You should read about Lot pilot "cpt. Wrona", and how He safely landed without deployed landing gear.

I have flown LOT 15+ times and it's always been wonderful if you are going to fly with LOT and are nervous, don't be. It's great!

The usb ports start working in lot after 2 hours of the flight
Actually, they start to provide power as soon as plain reaches cruising level, so it is about 20 min after take off? I did that flight this Monday and power outlets worked just fine.
Yeah outlets usually come on together with cabin lights and window dimmers at the cruising alt, as a safety percaution. But actually once, at the LOT flight they werent working for an hour or so, and I asked flight attendant whats going on and she told me „oops we forgot, I’ll turn them on in a minute”. Sooo theres apparently a phisical cut-off switch xd
Odd, but if something doesnt work - just ask. They will turn it on, or - if its broken for some reason - you will get lots of snacks or even better seat. Any airline knows, that consumer satisfaction = money.
I work as Cabin Crew in LOT myself and there sort of is a phisical switch. In the control panel of the entertainment system, we got many settings in which you control basically all the "gadgets" we got on 787. Windows, power outlets, lighting, etc. For the power outlets to work it can be done only manually ( In therms of switching it on) it is hovever automated (if that makes any sense) same as the windows some systems like power outlets will turn off automatically before take-off phase and go back online after aircraft reaches a certain altitude. We ofc can bypass with manual input (at least for things like windows not sure if we can force power outlets to work as it would go against our own procedures). But yea just like Stanislaw pointed out we sometimes do forget to check if its on especially when we do not know that it was switch off by someone in the first place ;)
It is beacuse of safety reasons... u know electricity is kore important for plane than your phone in this time and anyway batteries has to charge up to provide fast charging

I flew with LOT from JFK to WAW many years ago on an IL62. Definitely had more legroom on that flight than you had on that 787. That’s progress I guess.

I flew from jfk a month aga on Belgium airlines lot capsule they rented the bigger plane out it was great but there were no chargers so I think lot is a better plane

IL62 had also a tendency to kill all people onboard.
I flew on Lot il-62 in 1987 from Warsaw to Montreal, the plane i flew on crashed 6 days later killing all 183 people on board.

I adore LOT, it is my favourite airline, just in between cheap and quality, plus a lot of flights are in offer. So everybody please step off of PLL LOT because we all should love it

The fact that I've never even heard of LOT Airlines before IMO is a good thing! That means there have been no crashes or any other newsworthy incidents LOL
There was one, the pilot had land without landing gear. People said it was the smoothest landing they ever had. No injuries whatsoever.
They had two crashes in '80, when they use Soviet aircrafts :(. In one case the last words of the captain became pretty famous - in the very last second before crash, among all chaos in cockpit he said to the ground control: "goodnight, goodbye, we perish!!!".

@ziclon b I flyed for example with etihad econemy and i dont see some difference to be fair, can you tell me what the difference is? And yes i know this is boeing and Etihad have airbus. Lot have also first first class on their 787 which look very good comfortable and much space...

I did a very short(2 hour?) flight on LOT many moons ago to Krakow. They kept you very well fed for a short flight.
I had a flight on LOT from London to Warsaw.. not too sure what to think. Maybe it was the crying child for the entire flight and not so much the plane or service..

The route is kinda new. It is possible, because Dreamliners recently bought by Polish Airlines are capable to do so long distance flights.

Flew with them from Warsaw to Frankfurt and got a flight with them on Thursday 22nd August back to Warsaw from Frankfurt . No bad experience so far

I know how you feel I had a flight from Wroctaw-Warsaw-New York City on the 20th. The first small plane was best it ever could be, the seat next to me next to me and I could of relaxed in peace and on time. Once i got the one to New York City it was SO bad i had the worst seat posssible which is being the middle, my flight delay 1 hour like usual then once I suffocated enough the border control was also so awful the lines were all the way to exit of the gate when you leave the plane. So yeah.

Ive done 15 hours in economy from Australia, was on an A380, was quite pleasant.
I did 14 from Sydney to LAX on a Qantas 747-400 many years ago.

Public WiFi is extremely dirty and super easy to hack - basically any device you have connected to it (phone, laptop, tablet, etc) is fully exposed to anyone who might be snooping. They can see everything! A quick Google search will reveal more than you ever wanted to know (and don’t say that I didn’t warn you about the scary things you will learn 😅).

Lot is my favorite airlines. But as I recommend The window seat. You can easily sleep by the window enjoying to the view you can make the windows black to white any type. But you forgot one thing economy seats are able to little lower the seat to make it close to a better seat option to sleep

7:09 I am an aircraft mechanic but mostly work 767 757 and 777 and used to work our dc10s and 747 400s which didnt have it. There is a switch that the pilot turns on that opens a power bus to the seat outlets.

Fantastic. It's great you found a way to supplement your revenue with well fitting promo. That LAX KAL lounge is one of the better ones that can be accesses via DragonPass/PriorityPass. Never flew LOT myself, despite Polish background. The Y soft and hard product looked average. But the video is great.
