On Citrus I do a variant graft, in which I select a very narrow scion and remove the bark on opposite surfaces. One surface matches the cambium with the rootstock just as shown. However, the back scide of the scion, having had the cambium exposed, is now matched with the cambium of the flap that's been temporarily peeled away from the stock. This allows for double cambium contact and has been very successful for me.

On the final wrap of the tape, it seems to cover the tip of the scion. Did you leave an opening on one of the buds? Or is it supposed to push through the tape?
I have about 20 seedlings I'd like to graft. Thing is they're already about 2 years in pots and about 3-5 feet tall. I'm thinking they need to go in the ground and I'm not sure if I should plant them and then do the grafting. Also the soil in some of the pots is low. ***** I think so because he used a regular Mango tree to graft the "Kind of Mango" he wanted to have. But I know you can graft an apple with other fruits to it, and they all bare fruit of those choices on one tree, but only to the growth of that veneer. Not clear as to if a mango to it would work. It maybe it has to be certain categories of fruit to tree trees.. That's the best I know about it. Hope it helped.

it maybe same species or not, No, only the branch which is grafted is allowed to fruit.There are different varieties of same fruit, so we graft our required variety on rootstock.

Hello, The grafting tape can be completely removed once a strong union has been formed. With a veneer graft, the top of the rootstock should be removed down to the scion once the tape is removed. May I ask if the Scion is a sprout(for lack of proper terminology) that is an immature stem in which the end of the branch will fruit into a mango? My neighbor has a beautiful fruiting Mango Tree which I am tending to while away, & I noticed the look of a very immature sprout which visually you can tell will be a mango in the making. Avocado trees grown from a pit will not grow fruit for at least 5 years, and then the fruit may be bitter or uneatable. Grafting will promote fruit growth to about 2 years and will be good edible fruit

cuz the mother plant is not the one you want to fruit...if the mother plant was what you wanted then, you wouldn't be grafting a scion to it right??? a scion is a prefer branch, which the parent produce really desirable sweet fruits....also the scion is from an mature tree ,so it will produce fruit faster than the young stock..

What if the scion has not flushed, but your rootstock wants to keep putting out new shoots? Do you keep pinching those new shoots off?

age of the rootstock is not as important as matching up the scion wood with the rootstock. can be 6 months to 24 months or more.
