Your on point with 70cc saws.After starting with a little 42cc and going through the cc range of saws I've decided that a 70cc saw is perfect for me. Best power to weight ratio and can be ran for a 8hr day without your arm feeling like its going to fall off. I have yet to try a 572 but after watching this i want to sell my stihls.
Freakin sick saw!! That’s probably the meanest 572’s I have seen. I just muffler modded mine and made a noticeable difference. Going to grind a little on the ports soon.
Yes sir, uh huh, yep, 70cc ported, running with the big boys. Pipe sounds marvelous. I started with a ported 7310, spoiled for life now. Unbelievable, 572 and 462 will get done up shortly. 70cc saw done up right, leaves little need for a big honking 90cc. Sweet saw, smooth.
@oakiewoodsman 7310 has a long breaking in period. Tight tolerance. Invest in the proper tuning screwdriver 🪛, or do a limiter delete. New 7310 usually run fat, after break-in, settle down a bit. Pay attention to the coil, 3 stage, may get hung in stage 2 for example. Pop crack bang sputter!
I’ve got aSFP muffler on my 572 as well and the power increase is very noticeable, around almost 1 hp gain. I may still get it ported but it’s good to go as is right now.
You can thank the good people at GoPro for no sound there at the end. We shoulda smashed that thing when you were here. Nice saw. It is obnoxiously loud. But hot.
@@KNLFirewood I think the problem was I had a mic plugged in and then I unplugged it but didn’t restart the camera. But if there is one camera to mess up audio, it would be go pro 😂
They do wake up quite a bit after a certain amount of time from what I hear. I've had a few 572 customers call me one day after work and say "I don't know what happened, but this thing just woke the fuck up"
I've heard there's actually programming in the software that holds em back for a certain amount of time and I'd actually buy that. It's never "yeah it feels a little different over time" it's always "all of a sudden, it's a different saw" I'll be curious to get your thoughts on that as time goes on
@@frankz1125 it definitely would have been good, although my concerns with porting it and adding compression would be the weak starter recoil. I broke one of those on my low hour 592. I’m a Husqvarna guy but I really like stihls as well. Cheers!
@@wadepennington1733 ported 500 should walk all over the 572 I would think. There's only one guy I know building 572s that will hang with my 500s and he doesn't build saws for just anybody.

I know the 7310 is a little cheaper, but I’ve ran both and I think the 572 even in stock form is a much better saw. Less vibrations, modern controls, and autotune. Not to say the 7310 isn’t a good saw, the 572 is just more of a modern saw.
@765Guys cool I learned by accident the 572 even existed i was just looking through the farm and outdoor hardware store and saw this saw on the bottom shelf marked for 1200 and was like the hell is this i had discovered the 592 months prior I'm kind of new to these before hand i just saw chainsaws and thought chainsaw i never knew power outputs displacement bar gauge or any of that besides the name and the length of the bar that was about it I say with shame that is what got me to buy a 450 rancher didn't know anything about it but saw the bar and bought it thinking it would be a good saw theirs not a lot of content on this saw on the internet and that is leaving me to belive I made a mistake
So is the chain that was used on that saw a 8Ten or something else are they skip Tooth or totally something else. I thought I Hurd someone mentioned you saying the 8Ten was worth a buy maybe you can clarify. Maybe someday I will break down and get a saw ported.
@@brackenprofaizer2601 all my 25” chains are full comp stihl chains. I do buy 8ten skip chains for 32” and larger bars, just because there cheap and I don’t use them often. I also like 8ten chains for my .325 chains I run on my 50cc saw. Again, because there cheap, work good, I don’t use them a lot, and I’m more likely to use that saw when cutting junk or somthing that may ruin a chain.
@@765Guys I guess I’ll stick with Oregon I’ll just try skip tooth. I started making my own chain . I have bars from 12” to 36” and I like to keep spares in the box of each I use the Oregon grinder. Just picked up ms400 because I bought a semi load of pine “Wyoming” not to many options and it was lodge pole so supper small. But I do have a 592xp for the cotton wood again (Wyoming) the base of that tree was 55” I had a front end loader put it on my goose neck and got 5 cords just from that section of tree. @CatsRcool-b5o I focus on longevity. I generally leave a fair amount of horsepower on the table in favor of better ring life and piston support. I'm 2-3 months out right now. My emails in the "about" section on my channel
@765Guys my 400s are a little faster than my 572s. Little less grunt though from the smaller saw. 500s are a good bit faster. 661s...hold on! 10.7 hp may change your mind on the 90s!🤣

With the muffler and clutch cover you're running on the 572, I bet you it's closer to a 661 than you think... 400s one of my favorite saws right now, but they're a true hot rod. They're close to 8hp around 11k so you gotta have your chains dialed in every second if you want to get the most of em.
@@Leave_Nothing_Stock it should be 1 or 2 pounds lighter than 661. It’s half pound lighter than my 500 and if I remember right last time I weighed them 500 is a pound lighter than 661. I’d be running the same cover on 661. I did notice this muffler is a decent amount heavier than stock, but I love the look and sound so it’s all good 👍

@@aussiehardwood6196 did you see the time test vs a 500i? Far from falling on its face 😂. Also it’s a 70cc saw, they aren’t known for making a ton of power loaded. There top end power saws, if your looking for somthing you can load up and power thru a 90cc saw is what you need.
@@cwjolly69 the newer autotune saws are much better than the earlier ones, I have not seen many problems. As far as porting goes, I wasn’t worried about a warranty before porting. I’m capable of repairing my own saws. Most saws only have 1-3 year warranty’s anyway and unless you’re a professional logger you’re probably not going to use it enough to have issues that are not self inflicted before the warranty runs out.

The rest of them are probably homeowners looking for info to get the best paying for the Buck, don’t get too far to touch from your views. It’s over here in North Carolina South Carolina were 70° 80. 90 degrees with 100% humidity. There in Tronics and auto tune saws. Don’t work too good.
@@cwjolly69 well if most viewers are homeowners needing good saws I’d suggest they buy auto tune or mtronic saws. Much more durable than homeowner grade saws and they don’t have to worry about adjusting carburetors. I’ve also run my auto tune Husqvarna saws all day, in 90 degree weather several times, without issues. I understand it’s not for everyone, and what I like doesn’t work for everyone. I’m just a small fish in the big pond of chainsaws on TH-cam.
@ I totally understand . They came out with the DJI 5 and Best Buy had the 4’a on sale for 249.00 . I got the 4 with the kit for 349.00 . It came with a bunch of mounts 3 batteries and charger and a really nice selfie stick . I want to get my 620p ported . That will be my next thing .

What do you cut off the base to set the squish at?
My 572 measures .039 squish, that’s ridiculous!

Porting can turn 572's into a real monsters. Most report that after 8-10 tanks they come alive!

I’ve got a 562 that wrong with that 572 and it’s not ported or nothing it’s stuck
Saw makes good rpm but once put under load it seems to fall on its face. Maybe that will improve once broken in.
