- Dear viewer, thank you for watching my IMAX Theater video. It is the result of an admiration and hours of research. I am a movie critic, lawyer and english teacher from Brazil. I am passionate about audio, music and cinema. I am a self-taught audiophile and a free time musician. Ever since I first visited an IMAX theater for the first time, I fell in love with it right away, especially with its sound system. For the years that followed, an IMAX Theater was opened near my house, and shortly after it became a lifestyle for me. I love the IMAX high standars. This is a self financed production, and a dream come true for an admirer like me. Thank you for watching.

Nice to see such a magnificent setup where you're at, quite obvious your local theater is up to date. Theater next door to me advertises IMAX sometimes ... on standard size screen... complete with crying children and almost everyone using mobile devices. But hey, leather electric recliners for everyone.
I go imax with my girl friend she looked at her phone I, was upset at least dimm the light =) up to one minute maybe acceptable... But I turn off my phone
@@35ozgur Mine is dead and/or missing. Growing up in the 90s I didn't have or need one and don't now. A little etiquette can go a long way.

I like to watch movies in DBOX, which is where the chairs shake, and you feel like your in the movie. I’ve only seen 2 movies in DBOX but they were both great. Lego Batman and infinity war.

IMAX = ~2x "normal" size screen and the sound is great.
When stadium size screen? Not just stadium chairs.
Much easier to get good audio quality at home than giant size screen.

Why is it that when you walk into an Imax theater, you have this weird feeling like you're not standing up straight, even though you really are? What causes that? Is it just an optical illusion or something?
I solely recall my first IMAX experience on a 1st grade field trip, the feeling was very disorienting as if I were in constant defiance of gravity, optically I felt I should have been falling forward with every step, it's perhaps the dome coliseum design that allows foot placement in a geometric environment. As our theatre was adjacent to our unique Sci-Port discovery center in Shreveport. The coliseum IMAX theater is the only one in Louisiana.
The IMAX industry is certainly intended and marketed to be a compelling experience rather physically or cinematically. But given the amount of similar experiences it should certainly warrant more discussion and research on the impact besides the standard corporate disclaimers. Definitely not the proper exposure nor intended for all audiences.

You can check the movie on IMDB and see what camera the movie has been shot with.
Jay Roy The Dark Knight & Dunkirk has been shot in IMAX. The airport sequence in Captain America Civil War has been shot in IMAX Cams as well. But I already purchased my tickets to see Black Panther on IMAX!

Do all IMAX theatres have reclining seats like Dolby? I’ve never tried IMAX, but I’ve been to Dolby. They have reclining seats and it’s awesome.

I say its a tie between Imax and Dolby cinema, i haven't been to an XD cinema yet but will Friday to see avengers.
Help Me SELFHELP 2 productivity Hey there. The XD cinema is really good in every way, however, it’s an oversized theater, not a “format”. The IMAX only plays movies that have been converted to their standards OR shot with their cameras, like the new avengers. As for the Dolby theater, I’ve experienced Dolby Atmoa last week and I was very impressed. So, I’d rank like this: 1) IMAX | 2) DOLBY | 3) XD.
Let me know your thoughts after watching it in XD ok?

thiago schumacher i think i agree with that ranking. I like xd but i hate to say i expected SO much more from all the hype and hoopla but its still good . I guess i feel that way seeing that i have experienced Dolby cinema and its nothing better to me yet. But its hard to not say Imax is best because the screen my goodness the screen. If only they combined Imax and Dolby together WOW, or at least have some kind of high quality special surround sound for Imax.

Iron Man Forged By Fire in IMAX Experience.
That’s a DIGITAL IMAX theatre, a cheaper substitute for a real IMAX theatre. The authentic (original) IMAX features one projector playing IMAX 70mm film on a 1:43:1 ratio at up to 18K resolution. The best you’re gonna get on a dual digital projector is barely at 4K resolution. Basically the genuine IMAX theatres give you results more than 4 times better than this digital version. Of course both are great, but I bet cinema owners won’t charge according to the difference, so it’s a kind of fraudulent misrepresentation really
This. The diagram showing the comparison between 35mm film and IMAX film is, well, for film! No such thing exists in digital cinema. "Large format" refers to the medium, not the surface it is projected onto. IMAX 15 perf 70mm is large format. There is NO SUCH THING as a large format in digital cinema. Those IMAX digital projectors are off the shelf Christie or Barco digital cinema projectors underneath an IMAX hood. The only thing proprietary about the system is the camera and computer that align the image every morning when the theater is powered up, but that's pretty gimmicky and daily alignment is generally not necessary.

ive watched imax 3d once while sitting a little off to the side about 7 rows from the front and it was blurry as shit. i can only imagine sitting in the front corner

It should be crystal clear. Sometimes the two projectors are not properly calibrated, causing that. Tell your cinema’s manager.

Just Me I’ve heard the DOLBY ATMOS in São Paulo and the atmosphere was stunning, however, the IMAX has more impact and peaks when it comes to sound. As for the image, IMAX is wider and crisper, though I haven’t experienced DOLBY VISION yet.
