  • I'm continuing with my Classic and Non-Classic TBR jars, picking books off my physical bookshelves that I also have as audiobooks. There were some very good picks this month :)

The rollercoaster 🎢 of picking tbr jar prompts! 😂 It makes it very obvious which ones you’re excited for. But it’s also helpful because books can always surprise you. I haven’t read any of these, but I hope you enjoy the ones you get to! I’m guessing North and South is a pretty done deal! 😊

@ellenmadebookclub I know! It does force me to confront myself about the books I own. Why do I own them if I'm not excited about them. Hopefully, I will learn not to buy books mindlessly although I'm not too bothered.

Wow, you got some great books! I love "The Name of the Rose" although it's been some years since I read it. I have North and South on my shelf and I really want to read it this year! I've never read a book by Elizabeth Gaskell, but I've heard such good things about her works.

@@JessicasLibraryCard I look forward to the name of the rose. It's a 5 star prediction for me, for sure. You should definitely give Elizabeth Gaskell a try 😉

I love how excited you get, even though you’re the one who put all the book prompts in the jar! 😂 Except for The Scarlet Letter, haha what a difference in reaction after pulling North and South. I actually loved The Scarlet Letter when I read it in high school, but I’d be curious to see what I would think now! Thank goodness for audiobooks, right? Hope you enjoy any of these that you get to!

@LibrariesandLattes Thank you. I think I'm not as excited about the Scarlett letter because of the topic. People being cruel to others is always hard for me to read. I will try to brace myself, I do believe it is a good book.

Hi Bryndis! I almost picked up North and South last night! 🙂 I will make sure to read it in February so I’ll have something to say on your video! 😂

I LO♡E North and South! I did bounce off of it a couple times in the beginning, but once I got into it I really enjoyed it! One other note I'll leave is there are a lot of versions of it, it was partially rewritten and reedited several times and I don't think any of them are bad, but there will be differences.
I should pick up the Scarlet Letter too, it's been on my TBR for about 25 yrs lol. (Ps my 100% fav book with puritans is The Mercies by Kiran Millwood Hargrave 5♡+5☆, it is brutal but also beautiful)
I actually really like Moby Dick! It's slow in the middle but overall pretty good! Especially if you pick up on all the gay subtext, pay attention to the hotel names in the beginning for starters, I consider the beginning in particular to be a thinly veiled gay romcom! 🐋 🌈 🐳

Oh! Also I really liked Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe! Hope the two you have are good!

@ I've been eyeing The Mercies for a while, definitely want to read that one. It will be interesting to read Moby Dick and decipher the subtext, I love books like that :)
