    This man has how we say in England, that he has his head screwed on the right way. To say that he and also his wife have took a GOOD and SENSIBLE look on just what they want from life. When he was talking about downsizing, we have an other expression, he has cut his cloth to suite his sail. As I have seen so many that do the WRONG thing by spending the money they get. As you can ONLY spend your money ONCE. As once you have spent your money, it has GONE. That is when you start to see others starting to ask you for HELP.
    He is also right about the price of property been cheaper the more North you go to live. He is right when he says about RENTING a flat or house, as a rule you are paying the mortgage by proxy for the other person. But I will also say that you can RENT from the council or housing association. I know the home that I have been living in for a long time, is through an housing association. It is a 2 bedroom’d flat, but must say that the second bedroom is quite small. But even so, the rent for this flat is around £400 a month. I know that it is under that amount, but I rounded it up so I know that I will ALWAYS be in CREDIT. Also in renting through the local council or housing association, you do NOT need to pay for any repairs that you do when you own your own home. I know I had a golf ball smash one of the windows, that was repaired at NO cost to me. All of the property’s had NEW plastic (UPVC) double glazing and a new UPVC door as they keep the property’s updated. Had NEW boiler that gets serviced every year. The ONLY thing that I need to do, is to decorate the rooms to how I want them to be.
    He also was talking about saving money by NOT having a BIG car, as to fiend out what the transport infrastructure is like. As my flat is on a main bus route, and also NOT that far to even walk to the hospital in Hartlepool. But even to use a taxi would only cost £5.
    But what I would say to do, is if something was to cost for example £90 to £99 is to ALWAYS round it up to £100.
    So let’s say rent was TRUE cost of £97, council tax £27, gas and electricity £86 and food £38. So that would be £97
    £27
    £38
    TOTAL COST £162
    But doing it my way, then prices would be rounded up to the higher amount of £100
    £30
    £40
    TOTAL COST OF £170
    I know that is only an increase of just £8. But that is ALWAYS going to KEEP you on the RIGHT side of the line. As if your weekly rent was to increase by £5 a week, as you have been used to paying £100 instead of the £97, then to you it is NOT an increase of £5, but an increase of £2. So your rent would in reality would then be £102. So you could just round it up to £105, or if you can still afford to round it up to £110.
    I know what I did in the past, was ALWAYS pay more than I should have been paying for my rent, was when it came to around November, I would see how much CREDIT I had, then ask for a lump of that cash back. That way it helped me pay for Christmas gifts.
    I know that I should NOT be saying this. But the British Government like to know just how much money you have in your bank or building society. But if you spread a small amount of money in the form of CREDIT with your rent or with your gas and electric, then that money is NOT in your bank 😉
    For anyone who is NOT from England, as I have lived in England all of my life (as I am a BRITISH CITIZEN) if you have any questions that you may want to ask, then I will answer you to my BEST ability. But NO good in asking me anything about jobs in the NHS, as it is a field that I know NOTHING about.
    Bye from John in England.
    Hope you all are keeping SAFE 😷 from this pandemic that has affected every part of the world.
    Stay SAFE 😷
    Stay GOOD 😇
    Stay HEALTHY
    And be KIND to EVERYONE.
    Help others, but NEVER loan money to others. As I have put before. ANYONE can spend money, and even EASIER to spend other peoples money.

      @rbee2062 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For us overseas nurses ,when do we qualify to rent from council or housing association

    • @jonc4271
      @jonc4271 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@rbee2062 it all depends on the part of the UK that you live. But as a rule, you contact the council FIRST for a housing application form. But do NOT expect on getting a place to live within a month, as it can take a few months minimum. As it is all done on a points system. But then the council can refer you to a list of housing associations, as some of the housing associations will NOT accept you unless you have been referred by the council first. But it is NOT a quick proses. It is like if a council has only 100 property’s, but 200 people want one. Just something for you to know. The WORSE the place that you might be renting, the MORE points that you will be given. So if a place is damp, or has some sort of problem, then once more, the MORE points that you will be given.
      A good place for information about a lot of things is the “CAB” Citizens Advice Bureau. They give you impartial advise. I hope that this might help you out in some way.
      Good luck if you come to England.

It helps that BOTH of them were fully-aligned in working in ONE direction, AND Ready, Willing, and Able to make the necessary SACRIFICES to reach their goals. They did proper and details research using multiple sources (instead of just listening to one or two negative 'they-say-they-say' 'okro' mouths. They did NOT try to 'keep up with the Joneses' and live a BIG expensive life to impress others. They did NOT just dream that their dream home will fall from heaven. They did NOT live beyond their means to impress others as is common among too many people. They were (and still are) very focused and disciplined. Best wishes to this David and his wife. Bravo!! Good info. But the key factor is not having children. Once you have children and don't have anyone to help you to mind them for free is either you pay childcare or you suffer shuffling the minding between each other and this is very draining when you want to work extra shifts or nights. Also you need to spend time with your child not only work .

    • @ScholasticaUgboka
      @ScholasticaUgboka  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes its overtime but overtime pay is not as high as agency pay so instead of making money for those extra hours, you are losing money you could have earned on an agency shift. He can save better with NHS pay because he doesn't have to do overtime or come to work for meetings etc on his day off this giving him more opportunities to pick up agency shifts.
