I’ve been recently called to Hekate now at the age of 33 and the connection was so powerful and so secure but when she drew back so that I can research her, the info out there is so confusing. Thank you for helping me make sense of it all. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. ❤️🗝️🌒🌕🌘🖤
The info out there is so confusing. I appreciate you sorting through it and coming to her. There's so much of that immature "Hekate is super scary, better watch out," nonsense out there. It is my opinion, after more than two decades of observations, that if someone is afraid of her, they are afraid of 1. themselves (their own soul), 2. powerful women (misogyny - all genders can carry this), and/or 3. BOTH. It is true that in fictional works, from ancient plays through Shakespeare to modern works, that she is shown in the terrifying light. However, these are fictional. If the ancient practices and experiential records are examined, such as Hesiod's Hymn, The Orphic Hymn, the work of Proclus, and the evidence from the ancient temple at Lagina, then a more powerful complex Hekate emerges. I always say let your personal understanding of Hekate be your guide. Fiction and history only give us other's views, our own experience is more important.
Thank you so much for this awesome free content! The holy grail of Hecate info! I'm doing research before starting my journey officially with her and I couldn't be more grateful for your channel 😊❤
I was having a rough day and this video came up at just the right time! I'm thankful that she led me here. 🗝 Thanks for yet another fantastic deep dive into our Mother's history, Cyndi! 😊
Hey lovely Cindy love this 1st and 2nd parts do more loved the sibil one as well I know this hecate glory to her name ..she has open gates I know I could not open with out her..she never lets me down..she don't scared to walk the darkness she will say come on Vicki I come with you I will light the touches light our way and I will bring my dogs to guard us ..lets go and we do. Thank you Cindy lovely blessing to you and your family..and we are connected in 2023..love to you Vicki from Australia or wicked witch from the southern hemisphere
The dark night of the soul bit is really interesting to me. I, myself, went through an intense dark night of the soul of complete darkness. I come from a christian background with a lot of trauma but have ALWAYS felt a connection to the old gods and ancient times and the occult. I was convinced God hated me and left me because I practiced witchcraft. I couldn't feel love, I couldn't feel anything and was utterly disconnected. I was going to "hell" and being attacked by "demons" every night. That was the first time Hecate came to me. I was in a red room in a dream and her name came to me and I had not heard of her prior. Of course, doing limited research I was afraid so I shut her out. I have always been super uncomfortable with the darkness, I have a past of abuse of every sort pretty much my whole childhood. I was even talking to my grandma today and she said I used to be afraid of my own shadow as a child. Anyway, I emerge from my dark night, meet my soul mate and start doing DEEP trauma work. She comes to me again, and her presence is so intense I'm threatened by it. She looks right through me. (side note I have also had many many beautiful experiences with Jesus and her energy is definitely different than his). In this dream I am in a dark red room and she is telling me she wants to work with me, she tells me she can give me everything I've ever wanted (seemed like a trap), I was still unsure but I told her I'd think about it. Fast forward 7 months (literally a week ago) and I am very much a practicing witch at this point, interested in a variety of ancient cultures, and comfortable in my chosen path, and Hecate comes to me in a dream again. I'm lucid in all of these dreams, but at this point I made the conscious decision to work with her. I had been grappling with what true femininity was, what does it mean to be feminine? I have many issues surrounding this because I had a miscarriage this year and got diagnosed with PCOS. I knew in my heart femininity was about more than bearing a child (no thanks to the patriarchy). Anyway that dream was really eye opening. She poked at my religious trauma and made me realize how vast the spiritual experience is. How narrow we as humans think. She helped me realize the power I have, not on some power trip shit, but the inherent power of the darkness, the feminine. My sadness, rage, my ability to cocreate with spirit, to take control of my own destiny. In this short week so much of me has shed already. I feel a sense of excitement and freedom in that. Hecate has told me multiple times that she's known me for a long time. And in that dream and in my waking life I realize that I have never been separate from her. I hold that same divine energy that she does. And I have a deep DEEP love and respect for her. She is so wise, so independent, and beautiful not even because of how she looks, but because she is sure of herself and unabashed about it. I feel at peace knowing I can feel her with me, and that I need not be scared anymore. I am safe in myself, I am safe in her womb.
Thank you for ALL of your hard work and time on these videos. I learned a lot. I was spiritually bankrupt, and then I found Hecate. She has really helped me heal. 🌑💫🌟
I'm so glad I found these. I've been looking at different things from khk for a while now. But I just moved across the country for a fresh start and I figured why not start learning more about Hecate again 😁
I have been craving'to know' (again). I have been checking astro physics and went back to my biology studies, chemistry, herbals, & oils. I found your first video & now on your 2nd. When I was doing my year and a day, I called, who would work with me? Freya answered loudly, but everything I read and felt came Hekate. That was 30 years ago. Thank you, I feel certain Hekate is calling for another growth path. Blessings
I have been told over and over that I am irrational by men...just because I question and feel certain things are wrong and speak my mind with passion. Thank you.
Love, love, love the history of Hekate presented here. There is so much in this I will need to rewatch multiple times. Thank you very much Doctor Brannen.
I had no intention of doing any deity work or anything of that sort. Was focused mainly on energy work and gently dipping my toes into other areas but Hecate came to me, unannounced and totally by surprise. I answered her call and am not looking back. My whole psyche has changed for the better and since I have been delving into your channel..voraciously. Again, thanks so much Cyndi. Hail Hecate.
You were right, really tough to listen to the history at some point. It gets me so angry, I've always avoided learning about history because I just get pissed off but I'm glad your video showed up on my feed and I'm glad I listened. You were really informative and love how you connect resources to your research.
I always enjoy listening to u talk about the Goddess and all that surrounds what we know of her history. Thanks so much for your work, your books (Hekate’s Garden is next on my list) and your generosity with the knowledge.
Great video, so much useful info!! I'm a pagan witch with a special interest in Religious studies so this si right up my alley ☺ As a side note, as a BFA in Theatre grad: the reason most productions of The Scottish Play remove the scene with Hecate (how it's written in the play) is because the writing style slightly differs from the rest of Shakespeare's works (same with parts of other works of his, some argue about a 1/3 of his ouvre is either co-written with someone else or might not have been written by him at all). Because that scene differs so much form his normal writing style and thus people assume he didn't write it and it was added in later by Thomas Middleton after Shakespeare's death, it often isn't included in productions. Plus you usually need to cut scenes when putting on any Shakespeare play since modern audiences typically don't want to see a play for 3 or more hours.
Hello! I've heard the theory that Middleton wrote the Hekate parts before. When I first found out about this idea, I researched and discovered Middleton's play that has Hekate in it, called The Witch.
Thank you for bringing all this glorious history about Hekate and the Goddess and women’s spirituality (especially Gimbutas - such amazing work she did!) to a younger and/or new public; until now, I had been a bit despairing (I’m in my 60s) of this depth of knowing and power being lost. Shlain’s book is good; have you read Iain McGilchrist’s work on brain hemispheres - fascinating expansion into greater complexity rather than narrowing it into reductionism. Just received your books, eager to read them. Blessings!
30:55 just a slight correction, it was first published in 8 CE, not 8th Century CE I really enjoyed this video. I got a copy of Liminal Rites - by Sorita d’Este & David Rankine which was recommended as a primer to the Historical Hekate. Have you read this book and if so, what is your opinion of it?
So why does she come to us? Have we always been her subjects and warriors? Ok so I was 2 and she came to me as a whale named Skana. She sang a song of my life and it was sad and and painful, that I would be hated and misunderstood. I got the message and I wouldn't stop talking about it, like I actually had just talked with a killer whale. Now because I was very shy I spent a lot of time being very silent my mother would call me painfully shy, like it is still a burden to her, but I had a few questions. One on reincarnation got me kicked out of the Catholic Church in kindergarten and I went to the school attached. I'm still learning about her name as I said in another comment on a different video. I have always known her but only as the She, because to name her would be like confusion to me. I see her in my meditations and foul moods. Standing there before me with two left hands saying "one leads one follows, choose wisely." I've taken those hands so many times. Thank you for the information contained in your videos.
Did you intentionally overlook: The Id's of March (Aug/Nov 13th), her statue in NY harbor, having the most pervasive world wide religious symbol? Did like hearing of her temple in Ephesus. As deity of childless women, and goddess of Pharmakia (drugs for sex, incl abortion) her 'protection of children' doesn't fit well. Nor did you show any relation to Hecet (Egyptian frog god), also associated w/ Pharmakia(tran sourcery). Gypt means to wonder, in Sanskrit, take notices of city names from the Nile delta and match them to named areas around the Mississippi/Missouri/Ohio/Tennessee rivers' confluence. (ie Cairo, Memphis, Metropolis, Luxor(a), Joppa, ect)
Obviously, I can't include everything in a video. As for her protection of children, this is a well documented fact from many sources in the ancient world, whatever your personal opinion may be.
@@CyndiBrannen Just a seeker of knowledge. Though IMO, Friday Nov. 13th predates all other explanations. The point of learning history is to have a better comprehension of what went wrong, as so many want to suggest solutions w/o knowing what caused the problem. These comments aren't to cast dispersion, nor to assign guilt. In antiquity, prostitution was a respected practice. Witch Hunts, were a culling of degenerates, such as pederast, and those who carried STD. Many of these ppl were well traveled as merchants, ergo contributed to the economy in a major way. Once the Crown started loosing many of it's best agents, to Witch Hunting, they established the ROMAN Catholic Witch Trial to protect their agents. Unfortunately much of the fallout hit Covens, affecting women. Women also live longer, and materialist would use 'witchcraft' as an excuse to deprive widows of property left by their husbands. No doubt these ppl were nefarious, and looking for excuses. Yet the pendulum has swung, and now those same Witch Trial standards are being used against men, to exploit their labor, today (by the BAR). Hekate doesn't like her name being derided in support of nefarious acts, such as the 1000+ missing school children in Maui. Hollywood using Aug 13th to eviscerate Anne Heche, comes to mind. (little doubt in my mind what happened to her) While many will exploit what they perceive as negative to be evil, balance is certainly required of nature. Ignorance is bliss, and most people will a moral high ground over what they do not comprehend, out of fear if nothing else. So please don't take anything said the wrong way.
