I feel so similarly about Minerva! She has soooo many aspects. Lots of people think she’s a copy/paste of Athena, and while she does share many of her myths, she’s also heavily associated with the Celtic Sulis, and was worshipped widely as Menvra by the Etruscan people before Rome. I see her as almost a coagulation of a bunch of “minor” deities plus Athena and a bit of Hestia. I’m still learning about her though so if anyone has any resources feel free to let me know. I always love a little bit of extra information lol
I discovered Diana when looking through deities one day-I’m a baby witch, just starting my craft. I was instantly drawn to her as I read more about her and I wanted to connect with her. Fast forward a couple days and I was driving home from my mothers house-she lives in northern Florida and I HAD to stop by the national forest-Everything in my body was telling me to-and as soon as I pulled in and parked, deer were everywhere. I understand that one of Diana’s animals was a stag or deer. Now every time I’m visiting my mom I go to that forest to be close with nature and be at peace with Diana watching over me.
So, I'm one of the naughty witches that hasn't done a lot of deity study, but this was so validating for my very brief experience with Diana in the fact that I personally felt like she was separate from Artemis. I don't have a good way to describe it all, but she just felt very different when I worked with her briefly. To hear the history portion of this is awesome. Love it!
As an very devout Celtic pagan (Arwan's Oathsworn) whom also venerates my multiracial ancestors(African-Swedish American.), I find your channel is a very good outlet for me to not stay within my own little box and to remember that religion is so vast and incredibly diverse, to put things into perspective is to allow for all knowledge to be sacred. I am getting back into Wicca after discovering it 4 years ago. I want to work with a horned god that represents my paternal family and a triple goddess that represents my maternal family. My dad’s family is German and Irish so I decided to go with Cernunnos, my mom’s family is extremely Italian so after some research I decided Diana. I feel Diana’s presence pretty strongly at night time, however I don’t usually feel Cernunnos but recently I’ve started to feel him more Edit: when I feel Diana’s presence I get the feeling that she’s rubbing my back and when I feel Cernunnos’ presence I get a warm feeling in my chest

this is giving me the same vibes as when I was researching after years of trying to figure out which deity I was communicating with throughout my discovering witchcraft, only to finally find last month that it was Hulda. so many deities are almost completely erased by history unless you look through a TON of stuff about how/why folk tales have been collected and how they connect to political/theological history in the world. I would have never learned her name if it wasn't for having 2 and a half windows worth of wikipedia tabs on my laptop rn.
Hekate is my matron goddess, and I can totally see why the Romans conflated her with an aspect of Dianna. Trivia is a shared epithet with Hekate. But interestingly the conflation with Hekate and Artemis just doesn't fit intuitively. Suggesting for me, at least, they are separate energies. Such a great video tho, thanks for this Frankie.

This video has popped up for me today and I'm so glad! I filmed a video that will be lit tomorrow exactly on working with a Roman Pantheon deity (Vesta) rather than the Hellenic more popular counterpart so this was really serendipitous! I had no idea that the Nymph Egeria could be associated with Diana! I have recently learned that The spring Egeria in Rome was very important for the vestal virgins as well so I can see where everything connects. A dear friend of mine from south Italy himself mentioned how Diana was basically THE goddes when it came to any form of witchcraft in Italy so makes sense that she also becomes the main if not the only goddess an Italian folk practitioner ends up working with. Thank you so so much for sharing this! Hellenism always takes priority in neo pagan circles so I'm so grateful to hear of someone else work with the Roman / Italian heritage!
This is very interesting. I also consider Artemis and Diana very different. Artemis has been always been with me, even before I realized it. There are definitely things that go unnoticed by us until we have that moment of recognition.

When I was reading the "daughters of the moon" fiction series as a teenager. Then in the coven I learned in and got my HPS in considered Diana to be the name of "The Goddess," (the female aspect of source/creator/god). And after all this time all I'm drawn to is moon goddesses, dogs, deer, and forests. I feel silly for not seeing it before. I don't "work" with Diana, but I do honor her as my patroness. It just felt right, you know?

In Malta when we were under the phoenicians the maltese and the phoenicians worshipped the Goddess Astarte as a goddess of fertility of the land, the sea and of people and a protector of sea Workers. When we got chrisitianised Mother Mary took on the aspects of fertility while her mother St Anne took on the aspects of protector of Sea Workers so in my Ancestral Work working with Mother Mary and Lady Astarte they have similiar roles in cultural context {Although Astarte isn t ethnically a Maltese Goddess she still appears in folk culture and customs}

Just a thought, wilderness goddesses/gods seem much more likely to retain a certain ‘local flavor’ that a celestial deity might not, considering the wilds between Italy and Greece are different, but the sky above them is largely the same. In my mind, while Diana and Artemis are linked to all wilds in a sense, they are specifically representative of the Italic and Grecian wilds respectively.

Honestly, there are Irish Pagans who incorporate Catholic traditions all the time because it's so ingrained that it is considered normal. Check out channels from Pagans in Ireland. It might help clarify things.

She came to me when my boyfriend and I were having issues and I had called on Freya actually as I was falling asleep saying please give me a sign because I had been waking up with grid patterns of lupine flowers and then that night I woke up and turned my side and there was a Doberman staring at me and when I blinked the Doberman was gone and there was a lady staring at me at the end of the bed around the corner and she turned around and had flowing brownish black hair and I had talked to a friend about it and she was like that was definitely not Freya it might’ve been lady Diana because I also was calling on Apollo I do see them as two different people lady Diana and Artemis and just recently I actually got my DNA test results back and I knew I was Italian but I also just found out recently I am Greek so that makes sense why Apollo is also calling out to me and working with me. Never thought about St. Mary with Diana though!
Hello there if it wouldn’t be a bother , I have a question about something I Remembered recently regarding the “spirit adoption shops” of tumblr, I know on your tik tok and in some videos you mentioned that tumblr and Pinterest influenced your craft when you where Beginning. A little background of me I also had a similar starting with Pinterest and tumblr in the Beginning of my craft I’ve been practicing on off for about 5/6 ish years give or take a year,well this past New Years I said f it and downloaded tumblr again to Reminisce in the cringe my page was and to see if any of the blogs I followed where still active, most weren’t except for one page a spirit adoption shop named Lorelei’s Spirit shop, I thought the spirit shops of that time where just fever dreams of my youth since o was very young back then but I checked and apparently around 2020 was when most went silent but just today the shop I mentioned posted, I’d like to know your opinion of the tumblr spirit shops and how credible any of it was or is because I remember a couple of them required physical money before anything was done , I’m still confused about the whole thing but I just thought is was interesting no one on tik tok or TH-cam has talked abt the tumblr spirit adoption shops
The argument for saying Diana and Artemis are the same goddess, is that Diana and Hekate, or even Isis, are the same goddess 😅 I would believe many of the goddesses were different versions of the same goddess, according to different traditions, but from my more semi-agnostic view, I would say they are personifications of feminine energies. Many depict her as a super-feminist, nearly TERFish, but I rather see her as a goddess who fights for everyone, no matter biological gender, race and sexuality 💖
I still don't get the connection between Diana and St.Mary and I also felt that Diana and Artemis are different deities. Maybe as the queen of stars they match more, but it is clear to me, as I was a pagan, that there would be no St.Mary without Christianity and especially not without Catholicism and Orthodoxy. I still think that she was affixed over previous female goddess when the folk sentiment didn't want to do without. I had a similar experience with Isis and St.Mary back in the day. It's not a bad thing. People travel and deities travel with them and meet each other. When a new religion and mindset colonize a new land, either for choice or through sword people comply and the next generation are already born into it. Your ancestors may have carried along a very old tradition under different names. That especially happened in the countryside. Italy is now a totally urbanised and materialistic country, but you can still meet the kiosks of the saint among field that have been there for ages. And I'm sure that that there are still mothers who put the statue of St.Anthony of Padua upside down until he finds a husband for their daughters, maybe hidden in an Ikea cabinet 😁

Honestly, there are Irish Pagans who incorporate Catholic traditions all the time because it's so ingrained that it is considered normal. Check out channels from Pagans in Ireland. It might help clarify things.

FULLY MIS SPELLED IT! It's Dea Cornisca / Deva Cornisca. An archaic Latin name for Diana that was used for a specific cult. Upon further research it may have been a place of worship for Juno as well, which makes sense considering they've been syncretized/conflated before.

She came to me when my boyfriend and I were having issues and I had called on Freya actually as I was falling asleep saying please give me a sign because I had been waking up with grid patterns of lupine flowers and then that night I woke up and turned my side and there was a Doberman staring at me and when I blinked the Doberman was gone and there was a lady staring at me at the end of the bed around the corner and she turned around and had flowing brownish black hair and I had talked to a friend about it and she was like that was definitely not Freya it might’ve been lady Diana because I also was calling on Apollo I do see them as two different people lady Diana and Artemis and just recently I actually got my DNA test results back and I knew I was Italian but I also just found out recently I am Greek so that makes sense why Apollo is also calling out to me and working with me. Never thought about St. Mary with Diana though!

Hello there if it wouldn’t be a bother , I have a question about something I Remembered recently regarding the “spirit adoption shops” of tumblr, I know on your tik tok and in some videos you mentioned that tumblr and Pinterest influenced your craft when you where Beginning. A little background of me I also had a similar starting with Pinterest and tumblr in the Beginning of my craft I’ve been practicing on off for about 5/6 ish years give or take a year,well this past New Years I said f it and downloaded tumblr again to Reminisce in the cringe my page was and to see if any of the blogs I followed where still active, most weren’t except for one page a spirit adoption shop named Lorelei’s Spirit shop, I thought the spirit shops of that time where just fever dreams of my youth since o was very young back then but I checked and apparently around 2020 was when most went silent but just today the shop I mentioned posted, I’d like to know your opinion of the tumblr spirit shops and how credible any of it was or is because I remember a couple of them required physical money before anything was done , I’m still confused about the whole thing but I just thought is was interesting no one on tik tok or TH-cam has talked abt the tumblr spirit adoption shops
The argument for saying Diana and Artemis are the same goddess, is that Diana and Hekate, or even Isis, are the same goddess 😅
I would believe many of the goddesses were different versions of the same goddess, according to different traditions, but from my more semi-agnostic view, I would say they are personifications of feminine energies.
Many depict her as a super-feminist, nearly TERFish, but I rather see her as a goddess who fights for everyone, no matter biological gender, race and sexuality 💖
I still don't get the connection between Diana and St.Mary and I also felt that Diana and Artemis are different deities. Maybe as the queen of stars they match more, but it is clear to me, as I was a pagan, that there would be no St.Mary without Christianity and especially not without Catholicism and Orthodoxy. I still think that she was affixed over previous female goddess when the folk sentiment didn't want to do without.
I had a similar experience with Isis and St.Mary back in the day.

When a new religion and mindset colonize a new land, either for choice or through sword people comply and the next generation are already born into it. Your ancestors may have carried along a very old tradition under different names. That especially happened in the countryside.
Italy is now a totally urbanised and materialistic country, but you can still meet the kiosks of the saint among field that have been there for ages.
And I'm sure that that there are still mothers who put the statue of St.Anthony of Padua upside down until he finds a husband for their daughters, maybe hidden in an Ikea cabinet 😁
