I am just a random student on the internet who loves reading, especially about ancient history and classics. The purpose of my videos is to make classics and ancient history interesting and accessible to everyone. I am not a professional or qualified educator, “expert”, historian or classicist. However, I ensure that all the information I use in my video scripts has been collated from numerous credible sources. Additionally, I am dyslexic, and I will mispronounce words. This does not stem from willful ignorance, and I do make an effort to research how to pronounce words before I start filming, but I often misread my phonetic spelling. In light of this, please do not rely on my video for an authoritative or reliable source of how to pronounce certain words. However, I would like to stress that dyslexia is a disability, and mocking people for their disability (such as mispronouncing words or misreading things) is never acceptable.

I'm 61 years old, and have been practicing for nearly 5 decades. Never did I dream that I could pop up a video about Goddesses and Witchcraft, just playing on my TV. Thankyou for doing all the hard work and giving us such an in depth presentation!

When I went to Ephesus, I was looking around and found this faded carving of Hecate in a wall, and it felt so special to me. I said my first proper prayer to her there, and soon after a black dog showed up near it. He was pretty big but well behaved and sweet. It was a special day for me to really see her presence

I adore that Hecate's role as Persephone's companion when she leaves the underworld gave me the mental image of the two arm in arm, chatting away as they walk up from Hades to Persephone's half of the year with her mom.

I had two big black dogs(cane corso/bull mastiff mix and a German shepherd/rottweiler mix for anyone curious). My shephard/rotty recently passed away due to a stomach flip, which oddly enough is the reason my mastiff passed away.
When my mastiff passed away, about two weeks before his passing i got this caring female voice in my head say that "he will pass in two weeks, be prepared" and sure enough in two weeks, he did.
In my beliefs, they are with Hekate.

Embrace the knowledge of any and all of the deities as you travel your own true path. So little is known about her, she's one of the goddesses I regularly worship. I'm glad you really dug into the past and gave all the info, as most don't and just stick to the more Roman/Medieval stuff. Her origins are super important, as they tell us that even Zeus wouldn't cross her and would follow her wishes. Zeus!!! He respected her above any other goddess and arguably is the only one he saw as a equal. She has dominion over land, sea and sky, something even Zeus doesn't have. Even though Zeus agreed to the rape of Persephone, he agreed with Hecate that she shouldn't have to stay there forever, even tho this was convention at the time. She's truly one of the more fascinating goddesses of the ancient world.

My favorite aspect of Hecate has always been her association with crossroads, borders, doors, gates, etc. and liminality.
I just love her chthonic nature and how she is both representation and holder of the key to other realms. She is neither here not there but powerful both in each place but in between them as well.

Awesome video… some years ago I began a journey of spirituality and self discovery… as I self studied, I felt drawn to Hecate and she became my patron Goddess. Long story short, after some I performed a self initiation, during my meditation, I asked for my craft name, within about 15-20mins I had an overwhelming sense of a presence within my room. Shortly after I felt a touch on my shoulder and my name popped into mind. It was an experience I have not forgotten… Throughout this journey, I have learned/experienced many things, I now understand that I am a spiritual being. I no longer follow the dogma of my religious upbringing, I have evolved from my learning/practicing of the craft and have embraced a unity with all things. This journey through life we will continue to learn and grow until the day spirit returns to the greater collective. But, Hecate remains apart of me, I still speak her at cross road and other Hecate aspects. After all she is one of the oldest and most powerful of Goddesses, she predates Greek mythology… Blessed Be

Thank you, most sincerely, for your marvelous essay on Hecate. As the first deity ever to make a conscious and named impression on my life, Hecate has been dear to my heart throughout most of my days and nights on Earth, and I never tire of hearing more lore, more stories, theories and memories about the roles she has played in other lives and civilizations.
Were I asked, I would say that, from my own experience at least, she is currently the most active and palpably present of all the ancient Greek gods in the world of today. One sees her and feels her presence everywhere, and I am always grateful to other humans who acknowledge her and thank her and give her some of the respect she is due. So thank you, once again! I may have thought that I knew everything there was to know about Our Lady Of The Crossroads, but you have taught me even more, and I will recommend this delightful video to everybody I know.

One night i decided to call out to Hecate, asking for guidance. As i was falling to sleep, i heard a woman's whispers swirling around in my head. It sounded like she was walking around my house muttering some kind of enchantment. I felt protected by it. I am not the type of person to get down on my knees and "worship" anyone or anything, with my experince with Islam i know how dangerous that can be. But i do admire wisdom and guidance and I am very interested in learning more about her.

Thank you so much for making this. I knew she was the goddess of magic and the lady of the lamp, I was introduced to her as the only one to aide Demeter as she searched for her daughter, before even Helios would admit he had seen what happened.

I always love learning about new things and this essay about Hekate/Hecate is just amazing, I used to do research when I was younger in the gods and goddesses but I have to say I never learned that she had any connection to dogs or hounds of any sort, that is amazing. I wonder if she and Bastet ever traded teaching techniques? or woes about their animals over drinks? I mean just because one is for cats and one is for dogs does not mean they can't share their love and support each other

Great video. One aspect worth exploring that is not really covered is the Egyptian connection with the name. 'Heka' is both a god and the word for 'magic' in Ancient Egypt and 'et' is a feminising suffix. It is possible that the Carian goddess had another name but that an Egyptian one stuck. The Egyptian god Heka is depicted holding two crossed snakes and the 'snake goddess' of the Minoans, who seems to have much in common with Hekate is also often shown holding two snakes. The snakes are also sometimes more resembling an umbilical cord that twists around the goddess image which might hint at connections with childbirth.

    • @JustKrista50
      @JustKrista50 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

It was actually Qus not Egypt that had Heka. Important, because it makes sense that Hekate became the goddess of the ancient Greek witches. The constant city state wars would have women and children fleeing. Qus is located closely to the city in Greece where the ancient temple to Hekate was. The "te" ending in Greek made it feminine.

Helios and Hecate are the higher divine aspects of being human. "Them watching Persephone's capture" is the divine feminine and divine masculine observing the descent of concious spiritual essence( fem principle) be in-cubed or incubated into physical reality.
Most ancient stories telling of descension speak from a viewpoint higher than human normalities so they are relayed through constructs the human perception can recognize( re-learn).

She could be summed up, to me, as the goddess of change, cycles, and transition... dooways= Outside to Inside. Liminal= Light TO Shaow, or dark TO light, or living TO Dead. Persephone= Maiden TO Mature TO Crone back TO Maiden, which is why she she is the escort or companion to Persephone. Same with her familiars, the nurse TO the pole cat and the regal queen TO the wretched vengeful
b!tch. Same with menstrual blood. The keys are change from outside to inside, and torches being in the dark to being in the light... Am I the only one that felt this way?

You first have to bond with them, set ur intentions with them, it’s something that is gradual over time. I tried reaching out to Hecate, eros, even my spirit team, I didnt get anything but I’m still trying because I know it’s out there.
