    Thank you got the switch for $20 on Amazon, works great now for my 2009 Cobalt LS. My fans were only working on 1-3 but not 4, upon removal of the switch the one pin was slightly burnt so I cleaned it up as best I could on the harness and its working for now. Hopefully I don't have to splice a new harness in from the junkyard.

    Thank you mostly for the list of other vehicles that use the same switch. AutoZone said i needed to replace the air control unit (box) and it is a "dealer only part". Local chevy dealer wanted $197 plus tax. After watching this video the first time, went back to the same AutoZone, ordered the switch for the Pontiac (took 2 days to ship to that location), $18. I can vouch that it is the exact same switch. Thanks for saving me a couple hundred bucks!

The switch was $40 and the whole console was $300 (aftermarket).The 07 G5 didn't have the same # you listed but had a bar code. Used your # and it worked perfectly. Thanks again.

    Thanks! Looks like an easy fix. My garage charged me $30 for diagnostics and wanted $300 for parts and labor. Shipped to my house the part is $29 with shipping from Advanced Auto Parts. So, less than I paid for diagnostic testing, I got the part that should take me less than 15-minutes to do.

    I love guys like you who take the time, and share the knowledge with helping average folks with the scams the dealers get us with this...My daughter has a 2005 Pursuit, and she took the car into a mechanic and when she got it back, she noticed the next day that the dial itself was broken..just the dial itself...the junkyard wont sell just the dial, but they want us to buy the entire panel for $50...do you know where I might find the part number for the dial? Thanks gain, and thanks for helping folks.

      I thought this was my original problem so I went to Chevy and told them I just needed the knob that controls the AC. They ordered the part, and I got it in a few days. Costed me about $24.00. (It didn't even fix the problem that I had either), but they should be able to get it for you.

    Seeing that you replaced your fan switch & it that video, it appears that I see a wire that is spliced so. Let me ask, on my 07 Pontiac G5, I need to trace the rear defogger wire.. Do you know which wire provides 12v to the rear window for the rear defogger? My defogger switch lights up, the relay under the hood, it clicks but, No power at the tabs on the rear window & I need to know what wire runs to the back window & where it runs? I tried looking from the rear window forward but struggled with the plastic along the back seats, the wall of plastic beside the rear seat.I tried to trace it from the tabs rearward but did not have enough time.

    Did you change this because the blower resistor didn't fix the problem? My 2005 cobalt AC heat only works on the high setting of 4. I replaced the resistor as many said that is what it is, but it did not fix the problem. This appears to be the next thing to replace as all the relays and fuses seems to be fine. I also read that a low AC Freon can make the system not work in a cobalt.

    If I unplug that switch and hook up a new will it power the blower if nothing else is wrong, or does it need to be mounted back in the assembly to work? Being wired apart from the selector and temp switch I wouldn't think it would matter.

    The ac knob for the fan speed on mine broke off, i think it melted. I replaced it. Right now 20k miles later air only blows out on high. I think i’ll replace that and the blower motor resistor

    • @johnmccoy2009
      @johnmccoy2009 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carso Ackerman-Clemons The blower motor bypasses the resistor when the fan speed is on 4. If your A/C doesn’t work on 1-3, then you have a bad resistor.

      It's easy to take the plastic pieces off. You do need to take the other two pieces off that surround the radio piece, as the corners of those pieces sit over the corners of the plastic piece over the radio if that makes sense. I can make a quick video if you'd like. Takes like 2 min total to get the pieces off

      Yeah it looks like the right one, can't be 100% sure with out trying to get the numbers to cross reference, but it looks good

      just a thought, is your switch bad, or is the knob just broke in the back, and spinning on the switch shaft? I only ask because that won't come with a new knob.

      That's how it started. My fan would blow hard on 2 but turn off on 4. Not lining up with the dial. So i eventually broke the knob on the inside from trying to get it to work right. Until i found a knob, i was using needle nose plyers to turn it. Then i got a new knob for 28.00 from Chevrolet, but now the thing just turns all the way around with no catch. So I think I stripped the shaft with plyers. I took to Chevrolet & they said I needed a new "control head". That's when I started researching it online & found your video. I was ecstatic when i watched it & found this out! I will definitely give it a try... Thank you!

      Jessica Scott yeah then you should be good to go with just the switch. good luck, let me know if everything turns out ok. fyi here's a guy a fellow commenter got his knobs from on ebay www.ebay.com/itm/271323354992 said they worked great, and here's a ghetto way of fixing them if they crack, it looks a little crazy but it actually works really good. th-cam.com/video/ziPutFi1BlI/w-d-xo.html
