If you are talking about the Coupe, i agree. I´m actually saving for that beautiful beast. But to be honest the convertible with a fixed spoiler kills all the nice lines and makes the car look small.

You know I’m a Merc guy, but From the beginning I was going in my mind about that higher pitch v8 sound from the Jag and saying: if I’d follow my likes and get the SL I’d be longing that roar from the F type. That itself would be making my purchase decision. And I was laughing at Jim spinning the wheels on the puddle! That made my day (and his laughter!!!) this is the best fun you could get! Thank you heaps guys!
no matter how nice the mercedes, nothing can beat a sound of a supercharged v8 in the ftype, something was up with the ftype in these races , if it didnt short shift it would have been a lot closer

Sam, I appreciate you editing out my guttural screaming in that last drag race. While the Jag is the more sensible economic choice, there is just something about that SL63 that has me all in knots. I adore that vehicle in an unmeasurable way. Rich people live very very well eh, it was nice to experience that for a short period of time. Just wish the weather was a bit more cooperative.
I love the Jag, but at over $200k, the SL *has* to win. Mercedes handed the SL brand to AMG, so can you imagine the egg on AMG's face if it lost! In the end each car delivers appropriately for the money and that's not bad for either car. However, the Jag sounds way better! Sadly AMG has lost some of its past emotion.
Cool thing with the Jag is $3500 gets you top and bottom pullies plus a tune for 675hp. Different beast at that point. Do down pipes and intercooler and your above 700hp.
The Merc had more torque and a 9 speed gear box compared to lower torque and 8 speed in the Jag. These were the two things that came to mind. Also superchargers do not always put down all the claimed power compared to turbos. The jag only had an advantage of weight but the shifting speed of the jag could be a problem as well.
@@SamCarLegion Jaguar may need to update their roadstar either with a new gearbox or keep the same gearbox but include a new mild hybrid or electrification system to add more immediate torque to aid the supercharger. Just my thought.
the bang for the buck of the F-Type cant be beat. that torque helps it off the line. i was a lil surprised it couldnt maintain its lead since HP is similar. but not disapointed because of the price. im getting my girl a F Type.
The difference in the exhaust note is crazyyy. Both gorgeous cars but the jag in coupe form will always when the beauty contest. That and the fact that it's half the price, it's a no brainer. It's soooo beautiful!
I mean the Rev test is all you needed! The jag is unmatched. The merc is cool but I just can't help but think that 10-20 years from now the interior won't stand up. I definitely see the giant iPad screen in the middle of cars becoming old real fast in a decade or so
I really wish in the last redesign of the Jag that they updated the steering wheel, I think that would have really helped its aging platform. ALA Audi R8, Porsche steering wheels.

Well im a little biased , i have a 2008 sl 550 but i will say im not a fan of the new one. The price is ridiculous. Im here in the states and i havent seen a single sl63 yet under 230.000$.. i definitely like the Jaaaags interior..i just wish my 08 was 4matic..lol

Trans ams corvettes etc. While i stol love gm cars and trucks , some things Mercedes do in their vehicles are so much simpler. Silly things like replacing brake pads or even door hinges etc . That being said i agree the prices are just out of control. I would guess the reason the sl is now soooo expensive is because its amg only. Mercedes doesnt have "their " own model to compete with. Also maybe because its near the last "ice " sl models . Whatever it is , its too damn much..lol

My friend was looking at one of their sporty sedans. I went with him. We received a very snooty experience. He ended up buying an Audi. Not fair to paint a wide brush with that, but yeah, it always stuck with me. There is no doubt that their cars are nice, to be clear, but I just can't quite put my finger on why they don't grab me like some other brands.
Putting aside future reliability and resale, Jag is the one to buy at just over 1/2 the price of the Mercedes. It looks agressive, sexy. Buyers of these cars do not prioritize 0 - 60 or 1/4 mile time.
This was a cool comparison. However, Mercedes(and BMW) have been *known* to lie and undersell the stated horse power in their AMGs (by over 100hp in some cases) as discovered in dyno tests by other channels. The fact that the Jaguar kept up as well as it did with a 20yr old engine is commendable!👍🏾
Hey Sam, loving the drag races! I do have a comment, though. Sometimes the other person doesn't launch well, and you let off the gas and then get back on it. That ruins the integrity of a drag race - can't do that man. If the goal is to have a fair, equal race, fix it with good communication and timing rather than gas modulation on your end.
Why, when drag races are done like this, do they almost never show the cars actually speedometer? How did the guy in the jag also suddenly forget how to pull away in the final race?
If at slow speed some turbocharged passing easy a supercharged car, then at higher speed that turbocherged car will be ALWAYS even faster. Never otherwise if isn't something broken there, grip is at same level and gearbox works well. If outside temperature is cool and wet, turbocharged engines will run even faster than expected. Check yourself, i've checked many times :). Not really in the same amount for supercharged engines.
I'm partial to Jaguars, but the Merc's performance can't be denied. That said,.merc is still racing in petrol competition, while Jag is completely focused on electric racing, so the technology and development favors Merc. The Jaguar is a much looking car.
The ct4 is the 3 series competitor. The ct5 is the 5 series competitor. At the drag strip and roll races, its clear the bmws are faster. The road course makes things closer.

I've always never believed the claimed time for the jag f type r. 3.5 for AWD? They downplayed that definetly, seems like it could do 3.3 seconds on street conditions. Since it's a 70 30 awd system.

2009-2011 is the best SL design imo. This SL does look good though.
Amg is the much better car. The Jag is old technology .Bring a 991 s or gts and race the Mercedes. Will be much more competitive.
