    I wish the ren as a stand-alone exactly the way it is. It looks perfectly modern and vintage at the same time... size is great 👍🏿

      The Ren is an underrated MPC in my opinion. People only hate on it because it's not standalone

      I feel the same way. Or a Mpc 3000 remake

    Hey Corey, being an old school ASR-10 user for almost 25 years, I am really curious to hear your thoughts on the X or Live in regards to traditional sampler beat making. There are some things that seem rather minuscule to most modern producers that are important to an old head like me in making a choice to move to the new MPC.

    Did you do one on the sound differences and the weird pad response or lack of response from the X... Premier stil uses the Ren.

    Thanks for this comparison! Im a long time MPC user (still rockin the 1000 since 2005). Love the 1000 for what it is, but so ready to move into having more power and options... the X looks pretty amazing.

    in my taste the MPC X has gone too far from the mpc 60/3000 feel,...The Ren still has that feel,..The siplicity made one more creative Thankz fo shareing

    If you can give akai any feed back i would like them to add explode tracks in song mode we already have that option in pattern mode but its needed on song mode and would we be able to toggle between the standard screen on the computer to the screen on the drum machine meaning the screen on the drum machine to show on the laptop screen

    I hope everyone realized that by double tapping note repeat on the ren... it sticks without the need to hold :)

  • @Musictron
    @Musictron 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thanks for the exclusive bboy-tech! Can note repeat be done from dedicated buttons on the x or does it always have to be done from the touch screen?

    • @Bboytechreport
      @Bboytechreport  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Musictron guest yes. When the fkey button is engaged the top row of dedicated buttons become f keys again and can be used with note repeat to select time divisions

    I like the red lines the back of the early model. I wonder if I got a early screen cover. Most peoples are only black...mine says Akai professional outside plastic and inside suede.

    I’m still using my ren that I bought in 2012. It’s actually more comfortable to make beats on it then my Mpc live. It’s the way it’s set up. In the beginning I hated being tethered to the computer and the ren would crash all the time. But now I just been messing with the ren and Mpc 2.8 and it’s 🔥. I’m liking the fact Akai hasn’t given up on the mpc line!

    • @TheRealCalijokes01
      @TheRealCalijokes01 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m a noob should I buy the mpc x or Renaissance I don’t Lillie really buying old stuff but you saying they have new software for it??

    • @hypebeastdad
      @hypebeastdad 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cali Jokes if you can afford it get a Mpc x but I’m on my Renaissance still it hasn’t always been stable but now it’s perfect for what I’m trying to do

    • @LEX-456
      @LEX-456 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      i was told that 2.2 is all that the ren can use anything higher is a waste ...i am still using 1.9 amd a noob but i am hip hop so i guess i do ok...but i want to use ableton 10 with the ren . is 2.0 worth the upgrade $ wise?

    • @hypebeastdad
      @hypebeastdad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      LEX 456 I’m using it with Mpc 2.8 it still works hopefully they continue to support it. I use the live also

    • @hypebeastdad
      @hypebeastdad 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      LEX 456 I think 2.0 is worth it but if you don’t have a newer Mpc touch and newer some the stuff you might not see with the MPC Renaissance

    does it have automatic key /scale detect and subtractive note ability this feature can subtract a drum /vocal etc without bleed thru from a sample meaning you can take a bass line or guitar riff and separate it on different tracks does it have true analog clone sound capabilities, the clone converters from the sp1200 or the mpc 60 ? built in to it ? can you use third party software on it without the computer does it have true analog grain distortion to emulate vinyl 45's and 33's? / for true 12 bit output?

    Yes, the Ren should have been a stand-alone unit for Akai come back weapon towards Machine. I love the looks and design of the Ren. I actually purchased the Ren but took it back (idiot) for the TR-8 drum machine. However, I later purchased the Studio (the little brother of Ren). I'm going to buy the MPC One retro to add to my Home studio. Thank you for the comparison.

    • @Bboytechreport

      no. the MPC X has a lot of dedicated physical controls. The qlink knobs map to a gang of on screen features automatically too.

    Scotland in the house bro!Great video!!I'm desperate to here you're thoughts on how it compares to the Ren when it comes down to making beats and most importantly the WORK FLOW!I've just subscribed to your channel bro and can't wait for the next video,I'm hoping you go real deep in regards to the features and also the pros/cons with the unit.I loved my Roland mv8800 and was reluctant to sell it,,it was very unique in what it did,,the workflow was superb too!!Looks like akai have certainly upped their game,,,this unit looks like it could possibly be the best MPC they have produced and I'm well impressed with all the footage I've watched online.,,,it looks astonishingly good!!I'm hoping that they deliver on the software side of things too and don't sell us short?,,that we will just have to wait and see??Akai have now got me seriously interested and could be taking my cash!!!Peace!!!

    • @boombeatz27
      @boombeatz27 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Bryans Wow man I'm thinking of selling my own MV 8800! I JUST learnt how to take advantage of midi control within the song function parameters, and also resampling material with FX to add more fx inserts.. ppl online showed me cool stuff on it. I learned all kinds of tricks that I can take with me once I get a Rytm Mk II, and those midi functions work with Ableton's Digital Audio Workstation too!.. Im sort of reluctant to sell.. but u know I gotta make this choice or settle for keeping it forever.

    How does it sound compared to it's past predecessors, is it more catered towards work flow,does the converters sound more or less better than Akai's past MPCs?

    • @Bboytechreport
      @Bboytechreport  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      bairahrecordings sounds better to my ears. Not sure I understand your workflow question. It def has its own workflow with the addition of touch screen, cv and other 2.0 questions but you can still do the typical mpc things with it.

    • @bairahrecordings
      @bairahrecordings 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for replying back,what I mean by asking about the work flow is, did Akai with the MPC X focus more about the implemented software and how quick the user can get to all the functions and stand alone mode rather then how the MPC X would sound,thanks BBoy Tech.

    • @Bboytechreport
      @Bboytechreport  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cool, I appreciate any direction. I reached out to some people, who told me to reach out to other people, etc. Think I hit a snag at this point. Been using MPCs since the 2000XL, plus i live in Berlin where I know and have done work for people at Native, Ableton - so my vantage point is pretty unique I think. Thanks again!
