    The announcer states these are small explosions. Actually there are no explosions, these are examples of lighting natural gas. No different than lighting a gas burner.

      If you take a look at the "Arctic Sinkholes" report from PBS / NOVA you will see that sometimes these massive Methane reservoirs are set off from the heat of the decomposition matter (like hay sometimes does in a barn) or from a static electricity discharge. They leave a massive sinkhole behind. There was even an entire village in the Soviet Union whose inhabitants were gassed from the release of methane from the soil and the village was scrubbed from the maps.

  • @terenceiutzi4003
    @terenceiutzi4003 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Why don't they mention that the bottom of that lake has always been thawed and that methane has been escaping for thousands of years? And many villages in the yukon get all of their gas from frozen lakes and have for over a century!

    • @Observer_Effect
      @Observer_Effect ปีที่แล้ว

      Do you need the history behind any statement. Yes, it has been happening for *millions* of years. Sometimes less than it is now, sometimes more. Recently the speed of warmth is what the surprise is, but we understand the timeline. Unless you think . . . early is something more like 6,000 years old than hundreds of millions? In which case . . .go have another drink.

    • @terenceiutzi4003
      @terenceiutzi4003 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Observer_Effect the bottom of the lakes have always been above freezing and releasing methane . The temperature has risen many times much faster than now. Why do they pick 1850 the coldest years in over 1000 years to base their clames? Or 1940 for recent comparisons 1929 was much warmer then today, and that is even after they have faulsifide all of the temperature measuring sites? The Stevenson protocols have been the standard for temperate measurement since the 17th century, and in the mid 80s, they threw out all of that technology !

    I had to have a small piece of metal drilled (very literally drilled) out of my eye because I was too lazy to put on safety glasses. The pain wasn’t bad, but the abject horror of having to watch that drill bit come to and go into me eye, still puts a chill down my spine. Needless to say my garage is littered with different pairs of safety glasses and I even had a prescription pair made for doing body work (bondo dust sticks to contacts).
    These methane pockets, bubbles, hydrates and their emissions are nothing new. There are references to things like burning ice, ocean bubbling etc... throughout history. These hydrate deposits are a great source of energy that burns extremely cleanly, and is easily accessible making it a great intermediate until so called green power becomes viable. But eco Nazis like ocasio cortez and the rest of the creatures currently running the United States will here none of it. So they’ll just let the stuff release itself into the atmosphere, no worries it’s not like methane is the worst green house gas there is 🤨

      Solar fusion cooks up both Carbon and oxygen. Solar explosion releases massive quantities of all elements into the galaxy at large, chunks of material can form into planets which get caught in whatever gravity well is proximal. Among the material is oxygen and carbon. From there, geochemical processes occur forming all sorts of wonderful compounds. Among them... methane. Also... biological detritus, as referenced above.

      @Tribe of Joseph. That is an irresponsible claim to make when you haven't been there and don't have evidence for fracking in that area.
      Besides that there is also methane being released from areas in the East Siberian Sea where another TH-cam video reported a methane release was 6 to 9 times the average atmospheric level.
      The last relevant point here is rhat methane is an odorless gas while Benzene has a sweet smell and thus easy to distinguish.
