I remember having my Petra run around with a sword that gave 15% extra crit rate, an accessory for an extra 5% and an ability that added another 10 when using a sword, as well as a fairly decent crit rate from being an assassin (and from being Petra, whose stat growths support that build pretty well). All in all, she boasted around 60-65% crit rate and she still managed to whiff it at times where it would have made a big difference. Even with those odds, you can never rely on it happening, because the moment you think: 'I need this crit to survive' is the moment it will fail you.

He might feel regret or remorse, but on the battlefield, none of that matters. That's the problem I find with the 3H fandom tbh, just because a character acts one way in one route, doesn't mean they should act same in all scenarios. They react according to what they live. In some worlds Hubert would care so much for Bernadetta (Crimson Flower), in others, she would be another obstacle nothing more (Bernie recruited into other houses/church) Three Dimensional characters...what a concept!

Now i love Hubert as much as anyone but I don't think this is supposed to be some tsundere compassion, he really IS just trolling her for the lulz. I think the others were dead to him the moment they sided with the Church - that doesn't mean he didn't care for them to begin with (It's pretty clear that he considered many of his classmates to be his friends), but he really hates traitors. He seems like the type who would hate people all the more if he used to like them once.

He’s made it abundantly clear in almost every support, every cutscene and dialogue this man is in that he swears loyalty to lady edelgard and would kill anyone that threatens her or her ideas. He’s literally the Jacob of three houses. Now sure he can show concern over his teammates and be reasonable with them like Bernie’s and Caspar supports but he only does this because he wants them in tip-top shape to serve the mega bitch

I played her route first so when it came to the map where shes absent to carry Manuela to the infirmary, I was like "Heh it would be crazy if Edelgard was the Flame Emperor considering shes gone anytime he shows up."
I felt so stupid for not realizing that she was the Flame Emperor. When it was revealed, I thought "Of course the Flame Emperor is the Emperor with the Crest of FLAMES! How did I miss that?"

Hubert does absolutely care about his old allies, even when they turned against him. In this, he wants to make Bernadetta's death painless and swift, not only because it would be easier for him, but also because he doesn't want to prolong her suffering. Even when coming across other enemies, such as Ferdinand, he will make remarks like "It's a shame that we have to be meeting here like this." Hubert is cold-blooded for a lot of people, but he does have a heart for the people he cares about or is/once was allied with.
Played through all 3.5 campaigns now, and Bernie has that reaction anytime reinforcements show up during this mission. Pretty sure that’s a standard line from Hubert, too. Bernie does, however, unique lines for CF when the reinforcements arrive

In my GD playthrough, for one of his level-ups Seteth gained ABSOLUTELY ZERO. Couldn't help but laugh, it was just too hilarious. He had the last laugh though, he was an utter BEAST for me that whole path.
