Thanks so much for this one! Astonishing Roy, as always.. I love that there are "studio takes"... a lot of repetition to let Roy get to his "peak" - appreciate your reaction... Wilbury's were so talented and generous with their songs (all of these "rock stars" putting away their egos!) Giving Roy the spotlight, especially.. look forward to more from you...
GREAT reaction you two!! Thanks for doing this one. My mom LOVED Roy Orbison - so when this came out, she was in heaven (and as of 2018, she literally is). I think of her any time I hear a Roy song! RIP Roy, RIP mom! Such a wonderful, powerful voice! All of them were LEGENDARY musicians, and all of them absolutely revered the Big O! Cheers.
This is the only track with Roy on lead vocals and it is very special. As good as they all are, you can't imagine any of the other guys doing it justice. As far as I remember, George Harrison had "Handle with Care" already written and ready to go. But the other nine tracks were written and performed one day at a time. The entire album took less than two weeks to finish. It is an extraordinary project and I would also have loved to be a fly on the wall to hear and observe every amazing second of it.
yes, the album was one song per day. Post production happened outside that timeframe, but bravo, they showed you don't need days in a a studio to produce one song.
"Nelson Wilbury" - George Harrison "Otis Wilbury" - Jeff Lynne "Lefty Wilbury" - Roy Orbison "Charlie T. Wilbury, Jr." - Tom Petty "Lucky Wilbury" - Bob Dylan
Such a fantastic supergroup, with George Harrison, Jeff Lynn, Tom Petty, Bob Dylan and Roy Orbison. This is a great song with Roy Orbison as the main vocalist. I had their CDs and listened to them so much, other favs are 'Inside Out', 'If You Belonged to Me' and 'You Took My Breath Away'. I agree, Roy Orbison's voice is so good and so recognisable, thanks so much for your reaction. 😊😊
You should watch a video about how the band was formed and album was made. You are correct that none had ego on the project and just enjoyed hanging out and having fun.
🇬🇧 I seem to get all choked up when I hear Roy sing😢❤ Roy Orbison "Running Scared" "I Drove All Night". Think you two would really like those two. Obviously there are more, but they're my favourites. ❤🎼🎶
I'm loving all your eactions to Roy Orbison songs , your joy is spreading, what an incredible voice and everyone seemed to love him. Lovely man who had so much heartache in his life. The boys in The Traveling Wilburys adored him.
The band weren't keen on the original version Jeff and Roy came up with and were going to scrap it. Jeff wiped almost everything but the vocals and worked late into the night re-writing the song around Roy's vocal. Then they loved it. When you see Tom Petty talk about it, he is in awe of Jeff for being able to do that. Great song.
Excellent reaction to this beautiful Traveling Wilburys song performed by the great Roy Orbison - Lefty Wilburys. I would like him to react to the song Drove All Night and You Go It also by Roy Orbison. Thank you.
You can be the little mouse and see and hear them putting some songs together. There is a video of how they came together and you can see them creatjng the music. It is called The True History of the Traveling Wilburys and it's on TH-cam.
"Elvis refused to cover any of Orbison's songs. He reportedly felt he could not "sing any of Roy's songs any better than the original recordings". Elvis also commented that Roy Orbison had the most perfect voice.
Squeaksqueak, you are so on the button.Perfect awareness of the greatness & quality. Why did it have to end!?If only they were all here & John Lennon also. The world would be sorted!❤
If you want to tear up,, watch the video for "End Of The Line", sadly made after Roy passed. They paid homage to him during his vocal part with a framed photo in a chair... gets me every time.

The song is great, loved it when it first came out. However, [I think] this version of the song is a "fan edit" and in my humble opinion, kind of spoils the originality of the original song. As usual, nicest couple on TH-cam 😉
They all did it because they felt like doing it with each other none of them did it for the money because they didn't need the money all of them were wealthy
As ever a beautiful review by you both, but please if you can give a listen to the original edit of this superb song, this version quite frankly is totally ruined by someone who has mucked about with it, and resulted in it sounding like the stylus got stuck.....shame, great review nonetheless.

Roy shines on this song and you can hear Jeff lynne's production style all over this track!

Roy's heartbreakingly beautiful vocal on this one never fails to bring a tear to my eye.

One thing overlooked about them is, they are all characters! I'm sure they had tons of fun when together!
Such a golden voice. And seeing the tapes in the recording studio makes me realize how old this is, but it still sounds fresh.
Great reaction to a great song by a great singer.
All the greats gave the texas man respect . They are all amazing class act no ego just greatness
You played the gem of this album there will never be another Roy O!✌🏻♥️

Thank you so much for reacting to this song! You're the reactors who did so!
So glad he was part of this success before he passed

Great song.
It's got that groovy 50's shuffle and those sha-la-la-la's and of course Mr Orbison's vocals ... Love it 🎵🎶 thanks for this 💚

Thank you for this❤
Love it❤
There's footage of a reporter asking Elvis, what's it like having the best voice in America, and Elvis says, I don't know, ask Roy Orbison.
That is a cracking song!!😁😁🇬🇧
Can you imagine somebody sounding this good shortly before their death?😇😎
Squeaksqueak, you are so on the button.Perfect awareness of the greatness & quality. Why did it have to end!?If only they were all here & John Lennon also. The world would be sorted!❤
There is only one...Roy Orbison...the Voice...
I have the same wish.!!
Roy Orbison had a long career and his voice was distinctive. "Crying"..."Blue Angel"....."Running Scared"
Agreed. Roy Orbison is absolutely amazing 😍
Elvis said he had the best voice !
I say Willberries. 😆 They are the "Super Group". ☮💛🎶
If you want to tear up,, watch the video for "End Of The Line", sadly made after Roy passed. They paid homage to him during his vocal part with a framed photo in a chair... gets me every time.
They've already done that one.
We've listened to this one already. Please search in our videos 😊
your next wilbury should be " heading for the light " george harrison on lead vocal
play Indian summer with Roy Orbison and Larry Gatlin
We Will Call You Mouse From This Day On !
