      Of course, there's nothing wrong with marbles of a different size and weight either, but they shouldn't compete against each other in competitions where a particular size and weight difference gives one an unfair advantage over the other.

  • @forgottenfamily

    Michael Phelps has unusual ratio for upper/lower body length that benefits him in the pool and nobody questions whether he should be allowed to swim. RN3 might have some natural talents and benefits, but they come with weaknesses. RN3 had two courses in 2017 that were disastrously bad for him causing him to DNF 3 times out of 4 races on them (and give up a massive lead, settling for 11th in the 4th race). He's the right size and weight. And glass marbles might have slightly different performance characteristics too if more of their mass is towards or away from the middle of their frame due to the various styling processes...
    Side note: this is such sour grapes - someone is consistently winning so clearly he's cheating! Same issue happens for Savage Speeders who have been suffering baseless doping allegations - which is especially galling when you consider that they're considerably weaker at finesse competitions that make up a good chunk of the Marbleympics. And let's face it, there's a number of marbles who consistently do poorly as well but we aren't talking about what their natural disadvantages might be.

    • @tnfthomas5330
      @tnfthomas5330 5 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Well said, forgottenfamily. I watched RN3 through the 17 and 18 seasons. He has a niche - Sand Rally with NO obstacles. He is not great at other events, and if you throw in obstacles, like in the 17 season, it becomes blatantly obvious that is not his forte either. If it is discovered that materials have certain advantages in specific events, then it is the team coaches that are to blame. They should use that material on their teams. In human Olympics, you don't see sprinters' body builds running marathons, or shot putters, pole vaulting. Marbles come in many different materials (www.britannica.com/topic/marble-toy), and should be allowed to compete where they shine. Glass in not the original marble either. How do you think you got your name - marble. Embrace the wonders of glass, and if you can't get over not being great at Sand Rally, don't do that event; only play when you can be a winner. If you want to do Sand Rally, do it; enjoy it; stop whining.

    Also something got me thinking about what Quicksilver said, about RN3 not telling anyone that he was not a marble. How come Jelle knew? My theory is RN3 told Jelle, and Jelle gave him all the tests to see if he was allowed, it's obvious that RN3 passed each test, or he wouldn't of been allowed. And RN3 asked Jelle to not reveal that he's not a marble to the public or fellow racers. So what RN3 said was true he knew that he would be judged, and those who are bitter about losing to him would use that as an excuse.

Marble creators have a specific method of making marbles, how can we assume red number 3 was made even close to the same way? Also to those who think RN3 was cheating by not telling anyone he's not a marble, how come jelle knew then? I say Rn3 told jelle before he's started racing, and jelle accepted him so long as he was tested and cleared to race, which he was and still is. So what RN3 said was true he decided not to reveal the fact that he was a keychain, so that the competitors and fans didn't judge him as weird, or use that as an excuse to call him a cheater. Rn3 is an honest, hardworking and humble racer, he doesn't deserve all these scandals and accusations, in my mind so long as jelle clears him to race he's technically a marble.

      I'm actually in possession of orange number 5 (she's still chained up in the slammer after an unfortunate grand theft conviction after holding up a gas station several years ago) assuming there is some relationship between the two marbles, I can tell you red number 3 is made of either some kind of acrylic, plastic, or resin, with a very high polish and definitely isn't glass. The material is very very smooth and doesn't even seem to collect dust; things just slide off it. I suspect red number 3 doesn't collect as much sand while rolling down the track, which reduces his rolling drag because he's not physically pulling the grains up out of the tarmack as he rolls like the other balls are. Likewise because he doesn't stick to the sand it would explain why red no. 3 often goes high or even rolls off of banked turns in all the races, since the sand doesn't drag him as much.

    Being more bouncy is a con in a sand marble rally - you can fall out of the track more easily. Also, having a hole in himself makes him disbalanced, and sand can fell into the hole. You can't really control that, so any changes into weight distribution affects the performance. Red Number 3 overcome this disadvantages by really hard work and training.

    • @akki40000
      @akki40000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Sorry but the difference in the material can easily explain all his race comback. Also the sand doesn't have the same effect on glass and plastic. It stick more on the glass what make then less fast than rn3. And is the weight taken with his old empty or full of sand? If its empty than the sand give him a little more weight what can result with a better traction. With all the hard work im pretty sure he been able to take advantage of the disbalance with the sand making it able to give him a slingshot effect incressing his speed.
      That make him a cheater and create a real advantage in his favor.
      Sorry if it shock some people. But its like the trans in the sport. They have a physic advantage even if they think they are a girl. RN3 have a physic advantage even if he think he is a marble.

    • @ZdzichuWiertara96

      But you need to consider that he was able to overcome his disadvantages. There was a South African runner, that had both of his legs amputated, and he was one of the best runners in the planet. There is a Polish table tennis player without one of her hands, and she still is prime player in the world. They have been able to overcome their disabilities to compete at the highest level of their respective sports, and this is exactly what Red Number 3 did as well. He overcame his stability problems and instead of letting it affect his performance in a negative way, he turned it into his weapon.

    • @akki40000

      @@ZdzichuWiertara96 but his situation doesnt give him disadvantage. Its more like you put a F1 car into a stock car race and say both are car. They are just made differently. Or put Paquio into the octogone with Rousey and say they have the same weight. And also paquio have a disadvantage he is older and he is not a mma or ufc fighter just a boxer.
      If you look into the 2018 final race et 3:38 you can see that RN3 is a lot less dirty than other marble because he is made with differente material. The dirt made the other opponent slower what give the chance to RN3 to come back.
      Dont forget what make this video very nice is the fact that even if you cheer for a team or a marble they have all the same odds to win because they are all the same except for the color. Since RN3 is not and it seem to give him a net advantage specialy on longer race the odds are not the same anymore. And at the end its less enjoyable when you already knowthd ends of the race or season because its rigged.
      If every marble was differente i would say fine. But since every other marble are the same material, same size, same weight, same evrrything then you can't keep one differente into the game.
      What it gonna happen is very simple. First people who are not fan of RN3 will stop watching the sand marble raply because there marble have no chance, then only RN3 fan will stay. But more he gonne win, more it gonne get bored, because cheering someone when it have no challenge is boring. So they also gonna loose fan of RN3 slowly but surely. Keep it in the rally race if maybe what gonna kill there next season.

    On the one hand, this is such ugly discrimination against RN3. People are trying to tear down a champion by retroactively re-defining the sport to exclude him. But on the other hand, SIZE and WEIGHT are not the only important factors. To make up the same weight, RN3 must have a dense core. That means he has lower MOMENT OF INERTIA, which makes him more nimble on the track. Very useful for sand rally where you have to speed up and slow down to navigate turns and obstacles. That same advantage becomes a disadvantage on straight runs like the 5m sprint or hurdles, explaining why he doesn't have crossover to the other sport events. Does this make him better or worse versus a solid glass marble? NO, it makes him DIFFERENT. He's suited to sand rally, aka natural talent, but he also works hard, trains hard, and rolls with style. He's broadening the sport, a change agent, a roll model. We are lucky to have him.

    I would love to see some "Marble Science" testing to see if red no. 3 is actually faster.
    But the name is the Sand MARBLE rally, you need to be a marble to compete. It is in the name, Red No. 3 had to know. Didn't he ever realize he was the ONLY one that wasn't a marble.
    I understand he trained hard and he probably would be a very good racer if he was a normal marble, but we will never know. Every race he is in from now on will have questions whether he has an advantage or not. A player in football/baseball/any sport can be great and train all day every day, but if they are found using drugs or illegal ways to give themselves an advantage there are consequences.
    Do the marbles sign contracts for the Sand Marble Rally? are there any formal rules? What is the cutoff for types of marbles? Is only accepting one type of marbles discriminating or should there be different leagues? I'm very excited to learn more about this story and how it will change Marble Racing history

    A critical issue: given the same diameter, weight is not as much an issue as weight distribution. If Red #3 has a heavier core (metal?) and a lighter outer shell (plastic), that is a real, significant advantage. Less kinetic energy goes into rotational motion and more into translatory motion, allowing higher velocities with the same potential energy at the start of the course. Being slippery is not an issue here, but weight distribution clearly is. Of course, tests need to be conducted.

    Man, I had no idea there was such heated rivalries between the keychain and marble communities. I love Red Number 3 and think he's done a phenomenal job training and it shows. Quicksilver has some fair points but I don't think they're coming from a place of fairness or justice. He's just bitter he lost to RN3, which is understandable, but c'mon, guys. Let's be mature about this!

    10mins "I removed my keychain" - ouch! That sounds like it must have been really painful! Red 3 is a hero and should be applauded for their brave and noble sacrifice, not condemned by the hateful materialists! Red 3 could have had an easy life and seen the world, transported in comfort by his human as he accompanied them on their travels. Instead, he yanked off his own keychain (double ouch) and commenced on a programme of strict training and drastic weight-loss to become the athlete we all know and love today. Honour his sacrifice and silence the haters!

    As it turns out, plastic rolls better than glass even at the same weight. To be honest I'm divided, on one hand I think he thought that it didn't matter and wasn't intentionally cheating but on the other I think he might not accept evidence that him being made of plastic would help his ability to roll and believe he is better than he is. I think new kinds of races should be done, kind of like how you have heavy, medium, and light weight classes in wrestling. I am also curious as to what Black Knight or Nemo has to say about this.

    • @andersjjensen
      @andersjjensen 5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      No, it does not turn out that plastic rolls better than glass. In fact it is quite the opposite, which is what makes this whole thing so absurd. The lover coefficient of friction the better you roll, which to all practical intends and purposes turns into "the harder you are, the better you roll"... RN3 actually has an outright disadvantage, but sand is much more forgiving of this than the smooth surfaces of the MarbelLympics.. and what do ya know.. RN3 excels at sand race and sucks at funnel race.
