The buzzing noise comes from the manual eject screw after someone ejected a disc manually. It keeps spinning when the gears are moving while inserting a disc (like in this case in your video 7:34) and it is not supposed to do so, it is supposed to stay still while the disc drive is taking discs the automated way, reseating it will fix the issue. This can happen to a PS4 disc drive too

Man ..one of the main reasons i like you and your videos so much is that you always show it when you mess up or forget to do something important while repairing since you can easily eliminate that while editing your video ... you don't claim perfection and you definitely don't show off ... you are amazing man ... respect

Plastic gears are usually after market and not custom. But if they are maybe it is time to look into a cheap desktop injection molding machine and determine a mold of the gears to make on demand. It's a small investment, but it would support all future consoles as well as give you the ability to sell them as spare parts.

This one was still louder than it should have been but with no parts available there wasn't much else I could do with it.

Steve, did you notice that the drive wasn't making that buzzing noise when it was ejecting the disc? I, too think that this is not a case of gears as those would make the exact same noise when ejecting the disc as the only thing changing is the direction in which the gears spin. It may be a motor broken inside and when it spins 'forward' it buzzes but when it spins 'backwards' it doesn't. Might be worth a shot.

Good point, but also when the disc is going in there's a lot more pressure on the gears. Since the noise is still there but just quieter when the disc is ejecting I think it's a matter of how much load is on the gears. I could be wrong on that but it makes sense to me. It also could just be the eject gear.

I have an issue where the disc drive doesn't read any disc. No issues with disc going in or out. Just, won't read. Awaiting shipping label from Sony to return

You should use Lithium Grease on the Plastic (and maybe even the metal) gears instead of that oil!
*EDIT:* The Paste kind not the spray kind
