Cheap Fax Machine from old CD-drives

A great arduino+electronics project to create a training-workshop around. Uses parts from CD/DVD-drives, and self-etched (toner transfer) circuit-boards for the L293D motor-control chips. I printed the linear and rotary optical encoders on a transparency. The scanner-head is a laser-diode and a phototransistor.
It should be very easy to modify the scanner output to communicate with regular computers using the standard protocols. The scan can be much faster. I had to slow it down so the plotter can keep-up.
