Alrighty Katamari Damacy was an interesting project which was made within the budget of a million dollars, it was supposed to be fun and innovative and achieved just that. The game is all about remaking the universe from trash found on earth rolled into a ball and is backed by hilariously weird cutscenes and monologues of the king of cosmos. I cant really recommend playing Katamari Damacy, not because the game is bad but because all of it's sequels are very similar but better control wise and all of the sequels also contain the stages present in the first game so you're not really missing out on much.
@@SerafiniAGaunt That may be true but KF has this one song called Katamari on the Funk (Katamambo mix). I believe that its one of the best music Ive ever heard in a video game.
I have that game for the Switch! A little fun fact: Despite the fact the original for the PS2 was too “quirky” to be released in Europe and Australia, it’s 2005 sequel for the PS2 “We Love Katamari (Known in Japan with the same name from the first game, I think)” was released over there at the time. By the way, who thinks there should be a We Love Katamari 2.0 for the Switch? Anyone? (Or is it just me?)
I remember going to a babysitters house in Alaska when I was about 9, she set this up on the ps2 and I was hooked the entire time, now I want my own ps2
I tried to get my friends to play this and they said it was stupid and kept telling me to turn it off. I don't care, I love the game. My friend, all he wants to play is Call of Duty and I think it's full of cheaters. I am decent at Call of Duty and I do play it with him, but I never play it without him. I just thought he would give me the same respect by seeing this game. Ooo well. My other friend really only plays Nintendo games, mostly Mario, which I love Mario, so I have no problems playing with them.
Would I be correct in guessing that this gets pretty tricky to control? The player seems to run into a lot of things that seems easily avoidable- I'm not trying to be mean here, just thinking the controls are likely what's causing that.
Correct, you need to control the movement using 2 control sticks at once, so like going forward is right and left analogue up turning left is tight analogue up and left down, strafing is left and right to the right or left, click in the control sticks to turn.... Plus the first game in the series (aka this one) just doesn't control as well and objectives are often allot more difficult than they should be considering how tge game controls and how the camera makes it impossible to see where you are and what's around you allot of the times. All the sequels have addressed these issues making them allot easier to control, the controls themselves remain the same, but the camera and feedback is better and bumping into stuff does not punish you as hard as this game does.
This game isn't that fun for me tbh. Im playing on ps2 and the controls are super frustrating and unintuitive. Besides that I love the concept and art/music.

I still recommend starting with the first game. Since the next ones introduce new mechanics, It may be information overload for new players.
I really liked we love katamari
I would like to have them all just to have one per console, for the OST and because it's hella fun, silly and colorful in every game.
@@SwitchZetto Plus the first game's soundtrack far beats KF's

This has to be one of the most fun and unique games ever made.
One of the best games to play while drunk or high, the complex controls makes it even more amusing.
