In 1967 I took my first date to a concert of The Moody Blues at the Fillmore East, NYC. The band was amazing, the girl beautiful, the weather was perfect. Greenwich Village was magical. A very memorable night.
The lead singer is Justin Hayward. The man is 76 years old and still touring! I got to see him live last year. He can still bring you to tears. His voice is as strong, warm, and intriguing as it was when he performed at this concert. He is a legend!!!
I saw them live when they looked and sounded exactly the same as they do here. It was by far the best concert I ever saw. The full orchestra made it magical.
I was a senior in High School, hanging out with my best friend at another friends house with ear phones on, candles burning, incense burning & drinking Ripple Wine, HA! Going down memory roads right now, 1967, relishing years gone by.
Written by the singer Justin Hayward when he was 19, he says it was a series of random thoughts he put down on paper. The whole group is very talented and their songs are creative, unique and always enjoyable.
Most consder this performance to be a Masterpiece. I bought there first album on LP when it first came out. And every one since. Saw them live at Indianapolis, not sure of the year now, but can look it up. Just almost as good then though a rain and windstorm at this outdoor theater messed with us and we all had to take cover for a bit. They came back of and did a great job. Then about 25 years ago, I converted all my CDs (bought them too) to MP3, and they are on my phone, PC, in my car, etc. I never get over this great music. Also a fan of Dire Straits (Mark Knopfler), Santana, and more. Also, I think Justin wrote this song when he was like, 19 or so. A forever song.
His voice is just as good now as it was back then and he's in his 70s now. Justin (the lead singer) wrote Nights in White Satin when he was 19 years old after a breakup with a girlfriend who had given him a set of white satin bed sheets. The song was released in 1967. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
I was 15 when this song was "born" in 1967!!!! I've definitely learned to appreciate it more and more as the years have gone by!! Enjoy your journey !!!🎶🎼🎵🎸🥁🎧🎤🎙🎹🤘🤘🤘
The Moody Blues is my favorite band, and I've seen them around 10 times since the early 70s. One of the top prog rock groups around. Their 7 albums from Days of Future Passed, in 1967, up to Seventh Sojourn in '72, were their best. Those were the albums with Mike Pinder on mellotron, which produced all the orchestral sounds, and his writing influences which were very ethereal and melodic. After he left in the later 70s, their music became more pop oriented. Try 'Tuesday Afternoon' and 'Legend of a Mind', to begin a deep rabbit hole.
I was 15 when this song was "born" in 1967!! Honestly, I'm sure I didn't appreciate it much back then....but it's grown on me over the years!!💜💜🎶🎼🎵🥁🎸🎹🎤🎙🎧💜
Moody Blues are a blessing on us all. Not only lovely Syphonic numbers like this one, but they have some great fast numbers as well, check out Sea saw, Golden Rule, Voice Within, and Wildest Dreams.
I was 12 or 13 when I first heard this song, knew I liked it but didn't understand it, as an young adult going through my first hard break up the lyrics hit me like a ton of bricks. Still gives the chills.
You wanted to know what we remember. I was working at big boys restaurant in a mall and this song was on the jukebox. I loved it the second I heard it. But it does not remind me of any boyfriend just working and singing this every time it played.
I'm a lead guitarist. But also sing. These type of songs have magic! Like Barry Manilow's. Mandy and could this be magic! 3 years I took advanced Chorus. We sang all of these songs.
If you like orchestras, look up some songs by Emerson, Lake and Palmer, live in Montreal, 1977. And don't miss Fanfair for the Common Man, recorded in the empty Montreal Olympic Stadium when the temp was -20°. Their eclectic, progressive interpretation of this song will take you for a trip around the sun and back.
Listen to PHILL COLLINS, In The Air Tonight The live version !!!! It’s great !!!!! He’s a drummer who sings a little bit ……. That’s Phil’s comment, not mine !! 😘🎶🥁
I think it’s a prime example on how beautiful music is today. They’ve been singing this song for decades, they are amazing, live, no laptops, no autotune, completely original score . I’m sorry, but today’s music does not compare in any way to this for so many other, classic rock, songs and bands .
The MB Rabbit Hole often begins with “Procession/Story in Your Eyes” from the album, Every Good Boy Deserves Favour. th-cam.com/video/A6EFytM1sxM/w-d-xo.html

The Moody Blues have been around since the 1960s. They have turned out so many good songs. One of the most talented groups ever.
Great way to start 2023! The London Symphony Orchestra played on almost all of their albums.

I first heard Nights in White Satin in my teens. This song blew me away then; it still has the same effect.
It’s so good
