And anywhere you went, there were people demonstrating them. Sawing into aluminum cans and even hammers, then cutting tomatoes. Those things were everywhere. I wonder how many marketing schools studied their tactics.
Those Ginsu knives were probably marketed to people who don't chop/dice/slice things on the level of a good cook or chef; as you said, they're saws. They aren't sharp, the person does the work instead of the tool, and messing up won't result in losing a finger (just a really bad laceration). Cooks with even amateur skills use sharp knives to let the knife do the work; they banked on people being careful and being meticulous. Pretty good compromise if you have no idea how to handle a razor-sharp knife, really.
We have a 15 year old "Miracle Blade" that was in use for a decade before being moved to the garage as a cutting tool, it still cuts great and it has been everything from a sandwich slicer to a drywall knife, to a cardboard knife. It is surprisingly sturdy and has been one of the best budget knives I have ever owned. Sometimes those TV things will surprise you.

Most people don't know but Ginsu makes some high quality kitchen knives. I bought a set over 15 years ago and still use them daily. Of course I have sharpened them. They are high carbon forged steel with the steak knives being stainless steel. Don't know if they're still selling the same or not but I've been very happy with them.
the bread claim by that knife company is specifically about bread fresh from the oven. When bread is that fresh it is near impossible to make a clean cut without a special sharp knife. this is part of why we let it cool off before slicing, not just because its steaming hot inside

the bread claim by that knife company is specifically about bread fresh from the oven. When bread is that fresh it is near impossible to make a clean cut without a special sharp knife. this is part of why we let it cool off before slicing, not just because its steaming hot inside
I think it just needed to be peeled first then run it thru the machine for your noodles
