Stan Composed 'I Surrender' when he was only 16 years old and yes, he talks about attending church and how God helped direct him back onto the right pathway. That feeling you feel when he sings with such conviction is only because he has walked that dark road before and has overcome it. Stan is a very Inspiring and Empowering Artist. ❤ Much Love from New Zealand.
Yes he was only 18 when he auditioned for Australian Idol. So nervous and so humble...worth a look. Stan is a walking miracle he wrote the extra part of this with "I surrender all" as he had a rare stomach cancer and they had to remove his stomach ...so he's fought his way back to good health and we are all the more blessed because of that.
Whoa whoa I hear you as in how really spiritual this rendition is , and I understand what you’re saying in regards to being your favourite of his even if you hear other songs of his repertoire, I understand, but he’s got others that and I’ll be honest now , makes me tear up, so brace yourself for a soulful emotional journey, you’ll hear him sing in Te Reo Māori our native language, you may not understand it but tears will flow, because the music will speak to your ihi your inner soul, so brace yourself, tighten your seatbelt, and enjoy as you discover the journey of Stan Walker. Just a side note , at the beginning of his journey he was told music executives that he was “too brown “ for the industry and “your not like them? “ meaning like me , a brown Māori , his stern reply was “ I’m exactly like them “ Micheal Buble said and I quote, as he was mentoring Stan for Australian Idol,”it’s hard coming on here having to mentor someone who has a better voice than me , it seems that God kissed his voice “ I’ll leave at that so you can discover his personal, at times tragic journey for yourself. Loved your reaction don’t be shy let the tears flow, it’s your ihi coming to the fore. Aroha( love) to you
The first 3 pages of his book about his life had me weeping so much I had to stop reading to tidy myself up. We recall seeing him performing for Australian Idol back in about 2014. (He is a kiwi (NZ) but lived in Aussie for a few years when his parents moved there. He was so open and so talented and so surprised he kept getting through....following his calling
Great reaction, knew you'd love this one. Check out 'Newlight' & the Live version of 'Bigger' just a couple to name as he has so many great songs, you won't be disappointed with those two.
Oh you bet believe his faith runs deep, if you don't already know but Stan fought the biggest fight of his life a few years back when he had to have his whole stomach removed due to having stomach cancer, the same cancer that killed 25 members of his family. There is actually a TH-cam documentary about Stan's cancer journey. Stan is an inspiration to all that no matter how hard the devil rides your back you keep believing and never give up on your dreams.
We call that deep sincere emotion you highlighted, "Devotion" Unconditional Love for God and in Stan's loyalty to Jesus his gratitude is overwhelming. I've led chants in our meditation temples for many years and as a chantleader of services when leading the congregation in songs of love for God and The Great Ones like Jesus one has to be sincere and yearnful of that Divine love and by doing so it creates this collective outpouring we call "Devotion" It's deep, it's sincere, it's divinely loving and filled with gratitude for all of God's gifts of life. Stan, The Levites* *the Band and The Standard* *Backing vocalists, have all that in buckets. Love your sincere and accurate critique of the song, his version, and the flawless performance by all, including the engineering and production staff. Not to forget the first class quality of the Studio and equipment, re mikes, soundproofing etc. I can and have listened to this version for the past couple of years and tears of love and yearning for God and love for Jesus is irrepressible, I cannot refrain from tearful expressions of gratitude every time I hear this particular version. A yogi of forty-eight years, a professional musician, singer, songwriter myself since the mid-sixties, I am totally convinced that Stan's contribution to the world has been God chosen and I hope he dedicates that Divine gift in continuing to effect others as he does with so many, and that's to place God first in their lives, every moment of every day. Welcome to the world of Brother Stan Walker and his fellow God loving musician sisters, brothers, and ever-growing admirers. 🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏿🌹🎤🎸🎹🥁🎼🎵🎶🎤🎤🎤🎸
I have just finished reading his biography “IMPOSSIBLE” and I am amazed that he is still alive to tell his story. Finding God definitely saved him. Stan is no faker. What you see is really and truly what you get.
Just a helpful tip. The gate (noise reduction) you have your mic is super aggressive and really obvious. There should be a setting to dial back how fast/aggressive it it comes in and out. Will help things sound a bit more natural. Or just remove altogether. The background noise is fine. Hope that’s helpful:)
