  • Joe Tebaldi is the owner of Flexx and created Studio as a platform for gyms to post their workout videos. Joe is creating Flexx HQ and wanted to look at a few different ways to set up lighting for workout videos that will be filmed at Flexx HQ. I went over and showed Joe a few different options that gym owners can do to create a more visually pleasing experience with their online content just by improving their lighting.

      I loved the Tube accent lights but I know that I need to start with the Main lighting first.

    Great setup with the colorful backlights. Lighting aside, what’s go-to focal length and camera positioning for workout videos you’d recommend?
    I’ve been fighting empty space in my framing when the model is doing some standing exercises and then switches to the floor for some pushups or other stuff… been thinking about 35mm or even 50mm if the space allows but don’t wanna „clip” the model - lose e.g their hands outside of frame

    Great tips. I've been solo shooting fitness videos for almost 10 years and I'm at the point now to where I think my setup is decent but could use a lot more work. Thinking of just hiring an expert to do it properly. Thanks again.

    Ryan, you ROCK! I love how your no-nonsense presentation and clear and concise tutorial. Heya, I'm setting up in a tiny room (7ft x 7ft) with stark white walls. What are your thoughts about lighting it (no shadows but, able to capture my full body)? I have access to 3x GVM 800D and for the camera, I can use my iPhone SE or my new Sony ZV-E10. If using Sony, should I get a specific lens or consider settings? Thanks.

    • @RyanWebber
      @RyanWebber  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks man, I appreciate the love. I've been wanting to make a follow up to this but have been slammed. With that set up you will be good to go. Since its a smaller room with white walls I'd turn all 3 lights up as bright as possible and bounce them into the walls and/or ceiling...not directly on the person. I't will make it nice and super soft. The Sony ZV-E10 is going to be awesome for this. Just make sure you shoot as wide as possible and you should be all set. Looking forward to seeing the final product!.

    Thank you so much! I started out making my video with a pro than had to venture off and do them on my own. I have 2 really nice lights from Lyra (Bi Color Soft Panel ) They are great but I am struggling with how to get rid of the shadows behind me. I like the tube lights and may try them. Do you do any consulting?

      It's going to make it a little tougher but you can either embrace those lights by adding accent lights in the background or overpower the overhead lights with something brighter than them.
