Starting a vermiculture (worm composting) bin is a great way to hit two birds with one stone.
Even if you never have vegetables that go bad in your fridge's veggie drawer (you know it's happened), you probably have scraps from your usual food prep that would be great material for a worm bin.
Composting worms will turn your table scraps into excellent plant food, but it's important to take proper care of the worms to get the most out of them.
