Hahaha!! There's lots of snapping going on with the mess in my house 🤓 We had enough leftover to freeze for another supper...always handy to have this time of year
Hi Nancy! Ugh, that's a tough time as a teen and kids can be so mean. But just look where you are now; we are so lucky to have you here in this community and thanks for inviting us to share your holidays!
Love f1 i am also a lando fan. The last race was terrible hope that the last one of the season is better. Bought the socks pattern yesterday can't wait to cast on ❤
Hi. I purchased your latest pattern to support you for everything you do for the craft community and to support the cause the funds of the pattern are going to. This is my first pattern from you and I am very excited. I totally can relate to your personal story of moving to a different country and trying to assimilate. I had to do the same leaving my home country to come to the US; I had to assimilate to survive. I survived but my home country will always be in my heart.
I can relate to your story Nancy. We moved from a small rural town in the south to Joannesburg a very large city in the north when I was 12. Also begged my parents to let me stay, but no luck. I hated the city and the school.....but a number of years later met my husband here.. so I was happy here xx
I don't think parents, back in the day, paid enough attention to how hard it was to pick kids up and put them down in a new place. It's made us stronger women...right?!? 😉
Hey Shipmate!!! Just purchased those Splendiferous socks!!! Ms. Jo here letting you know that I'm working on that second sock. Still ladders showing up, but at this point I know there is nowhere to go but up and practice makes perfect. We Veterans don't give up once we have a job to do nor do we forget each other even if we have never met. Salute to hubby, you, and the family!!! Never forget that you and children served as well. Sometimes it is harder on the family. I know what it was like being active, a mother and married to a Naval officer whilst also being enlisted. But, I dont want this to be about me, but to congratulate you. I love those socks. I will be on them as soon as I complete this sweater called the Honey cardigan by Kutovakika. I know I can be ambitious being a newbie to knitting but going to accomplish this half fisherman's ribbed sweater, lol. Today is December the 14th and I am watching your December the 5th podcast. You're going through questions right now and all I can say is I was right in choosing your podcast to watch. You are a survivor Nancy. I'm proud to know you lass, lol. I went through the same going through school but for being this beautiful brown lass, lol. Now at 73, still that beautiful brown lass and very proud that that ain't changing. It is a blessing to grow up. Yeap, even at soon to be 73 stage, you must continue to evolve and pivot in life. One day you don't get that chance. Thank you for encouraging me to keep at it and I promise not to be a nuisance, lol, but I will check in with you now and again. Smart salute Nancy. Ms. Jo
It's lovely to hear from you Jo❣️❣️ You be ambitious with your knitting! Something tells me that you can so whatever you put your mind to 🤓 Half fisherman's rib is such a lovely squishy fabric. I'm so glad you're here and we're able to keep each other company 💕
Love, love your socks. I’m still pretty new to sock knitting. I ordered a bunch of sock yarn from Knit Picks it’s supposed to arrive on Saturday. I’m super excited. I bought your just released pattern. Looking forward to cast them on.
My children were 6,5 and 3 when we came to Canada in 1981. My oldest was put into grade 2 as he had already been in school for 1 1/2 yrs. He also forced himself to lose his accent because the other kids always wanted him to read in class as they enjoyed it so much. lol. He is 50 and also regrets it sometimes. The other two just lost it naturally. Of course I was 26 so have never lost mine. So long ago, I’m 70 now. Eek! Where did the time go?
Where does the time go?? We came over in 1981 as well. My youngest brother was 6 and put in grade 2 as well....it's all sounding very similar 🤓 My brothers both lost their accents veryl quickly
I told my girlfriends about u making your own advent so we are now going to draw names and make each other’s. We have to buy one full skein to go with the 24 other colors. Thanks for the idea ❤
I immigrated to California from Indonesia and the Netherlands with my family when I was 10. Since I didn’t speak English at all when we came I was given years of extra English lessons from a school speech therapist (no ESL in those days). Consequently I have very little “accent” in English, but I have retained a bit of a Dutch/Indonesian accent when I speak Dutch. I am now in my mid-70s and am still surprised how much I still carry “scars” from being the “immigrant” girl who never really fit in - even all these years later. I’m still “of two minds” about where I feel most at home. Until next time. Salam wa sa’aadfah
Your comment about your accent at age 13 reminded me.... my parents gave me an unusual name and called me by my first and middle names, Carol Beth. By the 8th grade (mid-60s), i had never heard anybody else called that and i thought it sounded too childish, so i decided to drop the middle name. Only family and their friends called me by that, everybody else in my own world called me Carol. Well, forward many decades and i realized nearly everybody that called me that are gone and i never hear it any more and i miss it.
I moved to Cheshire from Herefordshire at 9hrs old and like you, for the sake reasons worked hard to lose my strong accent.. So now I have no accent as such 😊
Your socks are beautiful. Other knitters who are Vlogmas people are showing their socks two have the same stripes and another has different series of colours
I think moving and losing your accent happens quite a lot. My next door neighbour when we growing up moved to Northern Ireland as an adult when she married from our town just 25 miles north of London and because of the situation over 50 years ago very quickly had to loose her English accent so that she did not stand out. For her it was a matter of safety. 🇬🇧
I would enjoy visiting your lovely shop! A little too far, but it's still delightful to see. Your new pattern is beautiful. 😊
Thanks Lynn❣️ It's a lovely place to spend the day 🥂
Knit, Sip, Snappy 🫰🏼!! Beautiful pattern release and I think I need Shepherd’s Pie. Yum!
Hahaha!! There's lots of snapping going on with the mess in my house 🤓 We had enough leftover to freeze for another supper...always handy to have this time of year
my socks look so pretty!! Your pattern was super fun to do! You have created a monster..... I want to knit everything!! 🙂
They are gorgeous!! And there are worse addictions 🤓🧶
Hi Nancy! Ugh, that's a tough time as a teen and kids can be so mean. But just look where you are now; we are so lucky to have you here in this community and thanks for inviting us to share your holidays!
That's so lovely of you Jess 💕 Everything happens for a reason.😊
Yay! I’m so glad it arrived! That was quick! Really enjoying your Vlogmas Nancy - and in awe that you can put out a video day!
It already has a project in it 🥰 Thanks for the speedy shipping 🎁

That's brilliant 👏 You will have lots of fun🧶 i have to arrange some more swaps for 2025, so I have enough for my calendar next year 🤓
Thanks Nancy. If you come back on a visit to England - I’ll get together with you for a bit of knitting and re-educating you with an English accent. 😊
That sounds delightful!
@ Just let me know when. 😊

I get all of that Linda❣️ Except, I was much luckier and didn't have to learn a whole new language 🤯 I hope December is treating you kindly 💕

I'm sure they are lovely memories of your full name and your family from when you were younger 🥰

We are lucky for pliable childhood brains 🤓
Your socks are beautiful. Other knitters who are Vlogmas people are showing their socks two have the same stripes and another has different series of colours
Thank you Bonnie! I've seen quite a few spoilers of the socks 🧦

Oh crikey! She absolutely had to
This Dutch girl is Team Max Verstappen 😂
Of course you are...brilliant❣️
Hi, what channel or how do you watch the F1?
I'm watching it on a cable TV network...it's included in my channels 🏎
How sad it is to have to change yourself for others .
It's too bad that we can't be kinder to others 💕
