What to expect in TAP Air Portugal’s A330neo Economy Class. Flying Lisbon to infamous Funchal.

Even on a beautiful and sunny day, landing at Funchal airport on the island of Madeira requires special pilot training, also due to the challenging winds, and the runway isn't the longest either. Part of the runway is even on pillars, which looks quite impressive (see thumbnail). Usually you'd find props there, Airbus A320's and Boeing B737's. Flying into Funchal on a widebody such as the Airbus A330 NEO is next level. Especially during the night. In gusty winds. During rain.... But it all worked out, and I'm happy to present to you this TAP Air Portugal flight review about their Economy Class product. I tried Business Class, but it was not available for bookings for some reason.

Kia Ora Chris!! Never heard of Funchal (love unique places) ...I was more surprised how functional and modern the aircraft is!!!! One of the most challenging airports here in New Zealand is Wellington!!! We locals call it Windy Wellington as you can always feel when you are approaching Wellington due to the severe turbulence, as it hits you with no warnings!! Have a great week :-)

Greetings! Great to see you again. I always find it strange when flight crews don’t allow you to film. What appears to be repair to the leading edge engine ncell could be almost anything from inflight debris to ground debris. I have to tell you that as a Flight Attendant, I always hated to fly at night and especially when it’s during bad weather, I just did not feel so good about that. Cheers! Brian

What i disgust at TAP is the fact that i always try to fly on their A330neo but never manage to. They always are then used maybe 1 day after my flight on the exact same flight, but i get an old A320/A321. They never even give me a LR. Hence i dont think i will give them my money anymore either! Despite while booking showing A321LR or A330neo, i never get one.

I had something similar with TAP when I was trying to get the A321neo. Always changed to A320/321ceo. But in the meanwhile I don’t care, as I had the A321neo enough now;-)
With the A330neo it seems I was lucky. Tried twice, and got it both times 👍
