Love the way the hub came off after a couple of taps. I eventually got mine off but resorted to using my harmonic balancer. It was on so hard it bent the balancer😂
The oil level check is done on most Hondas with the dip stick not screwed in. You just push it in till ot stops, do not tighten in, and check the oil. Otherwise you will leave yourself a little low on oil.
Here I thought a riding mower deck belt change was a pain. You are a better man than I...
Sht, your a better man than I, and maybe, based on his time in, while yours may have been spent on other pursuits, you are equal based on your abilities. Me, oh f¥k, I'll never catch up to either of you, especially in this lifetime. Gimme three more. Maybe I can close in. Best wishes
Looks great. Looks like it's going to be great for me this afternoon. Just got 2 out of the landfill. They save stuff for me that I fix up and give to neighbors or strip for parts for them. You and others in different fields do more for them than I could ever do. Best wishes to you all for all of your days to come.

Thank you for the video. Others were saying to remove bolts that my rear pulley didn't have.
I didnt take the blade off. The flats on the shaft are more visible and accesible through the bagging chute door . Good video
Dude, you tilted that lawnmower with the carb side down. Thought that was a no - no.
Great explanations, video-work and use of tools. Well done!
Thank you very much!
I watched the whole thing to learn there is a “fine adjustment” that is on the outside cable. - thats alli needed to do and I have a really old mower. You should definitely try that first! It’s counterintuitive fyi- you make the screw longer to tighten. But nice video - thanks!
Since Honda adapted the California emissions spec I doubt it would start just turning the blade by hand, but disconnecting the spark plug lead would be more than safe enough. Copper slip on the blade boss at PDI makes life a lot simpler, but if you buy from an unqualified big box store chances are that will not be done.
Really good teacher, thanks
Thanks!
I just picked up this mower off the curb. The engine runs great. It cuts grass o k, but the rear of the mower sits way lower than the front with the front and rear the highest setting. I can level the deck by adjusting the front. But then I'm cutting at 2 inches.
My mower has a spring behind the trans.if removed you can rotate the pulley for easy access to that nut.
Those blades could use some sharpening.
It’s a two piece pully if anyone was wondering
Damn my hub will not budge. Any tips? Beat on it with a 4lb.hammer and no luck
My lawn mower you just set the dip stick on top of tube
How do I know if it's a drive belt problem vs a worn transmission or cable ?I have an HRB 216
Great question! The main symptoms of bad transmission would be the belt driven pully rotating with the belt but the wheels not spinning. Grinding noise when engaged and with known good belt and proper tension the wheels will engaged and randomly disengage while in use.
Try that job on the Honda Harmony HRB216 mower in 30 minutes. I'll time you.
Time me. I'll be back to you in about a week. I will have gathered up all my tools by then, promise.
Hey. Best wishes to you. You're alright, ya know?
I just completed this belt change however my documentation does not specify a torque setting for the bolt which holds the blade hub in place. Where did you find yours? Thanks.
I looked up the Honda manual online and used the model number in the search, not sure where it currently is, if I find it I'll post it for you!
All I install is OEM belts, I hate doing it twice for free, if they buy the belt and it’s not oem I just tell them I’m not taking the job and why
99% of the time they agree on oem belts
I think you can change this belt without pulling all that plastic off. No need to pull wheel either. Theres a trick to it.
I see why the bodies rust through now. They hold a lot of debris.
Great ...Thanks ! what would the dealer charge for this service ?
A lot. Lol. Last time I did a tune up and belt replacement I want to say it was $180.00
They made them to keep the average diy guy from working on them
You're right about that. I'm in my 60 and I did the carburator, gas line and basic maintenance on my HRR216 Harmony II...I will tackle this next just for fun.
Too much taking off, after seeing another TH-cam video. This is good, but he didnt remove the blades.
Way too much disassembly done here. Remove spark plug boot, turn of fuel, tilt it on the right side, remove blades and hub as one, remove blade guard on hub, push drive arm on transmission all the way up and remove cable. Then you can release tension to remove install belt. You separate pulley on transmission to get belt off transmission pulley. 10 minutes max and that’s with a stuck blade Hub. Smack it dead center and use blades to wiggle off. People make things harder than they should be.
I operate my own shop. You do not have to do all that. Way too many steps ..
I'd rather do more steps than pay to have it done
I also operate my own shop and you are correct, way too much disassembly and only wasting time.
