Million dollar machines simply shouldn't stop, or should have overrides.
John Deere says ah
NO
They need more money, simple as that.
Waiting for the day when a subscription is required to start the machine.
Sure. Just like $100+ million dollar aircraft shouldn't have systems problems like flaps and aileron disagreements, instrument failures, etc. It happens and the cost of the equipment has NOTHING do with it.
The world of programming has become a joke. Sure there are a few top guys with real knowledge of computer science and systems testing, but they are tucked away doing some high level research.
Most programmers are the equivalent of teenagers working fast food. They just bash out some really bad copy and pasted code and the manager just rolls their eyes when the customer mentions the fries are cold the burger was mashed. Half a century in most companies and consumers still haven't figured out what to require contractually. The cheapest bid ain't always the best deal. 2/3 of it is done by contractors in India.
@@buckhorncortez cost of the garbage equipment has everything to do with it
I gonna keep our 1644 Axial flow going till the bin rusts out. Set n forget. If the crop starts thinning out a bit, push the go fast lever forward a bit more to keep her swallowing the same amount all the time. It gives an excellent sample and it is super easy to adjust if needed. Only has a 25 ft front on it but we have a lot of steep hills and a lot of trees to contend with. Beautiful, smooth running, quiet, non complicated machine.
Crop is 13x better than last year! We should all take a piece of Mike's positivity💯
I'm glad my 2002 TR 99 has no monitors to waste time with
Since that combine costs more than a house, maybe you can park it near the road and use it for Airbnb rental income during the housing shortage: *Shiny Green Tiny Home - One Careful Owner* Satellite communication where service is available and modern LED touchscreens are included. Surrounded by acres of quiet foliage depending on the season. As Seen on TH-cam.
I think a few crumbs & a little dirt is exceptable in the cab to have some quality time with Chapel & Ashyton
“So it’s the next day now....”😂😂😂👍❤️
That flat land and never ending skies always wows me. I hope one day to go out to Sask and see it for myself. Time to start taking pictures and make some calendars for those who would like to support you. We all wish you the best Mike, thanks for the vids.
Your wife has flat hills 😂
I feel ya pain Mike we used john deere green star autosteer when we were mowing the turf fields and was forever re calibrating the system, that's why we switched to new Holland tractors for the mowing 😂
A bad year is better than no year.
Glad to see you are at least getting something this year. Good luck and stay safe.
Thank you for your honesty.
Have some friends that have about the same problems you are having. 😢
My favorite thing in the world is the twirrly circle of death. Good luck Mike.
Ya Gotta Live ‘labor saving’ computers:
They save labor because you can’t do anything while they’re broke down.
Good luck combining your lentils Mike
unsure if you'll see this but I seriously enjoy your videos Mike. I am not a farmer but have worked in the industry and seeing your perspective is really interesting. Keep it up brother.
That thing sounds awesome just in the cab
Great video Mike
congrats on the better yield this year over last one
That's machine is amazing. Last combine I run was an 8820
I think I was missing the combine footage always the best it’s the conclusion of all the things we spends our time for
Mike, you need a dummy sack in the combine to trick the seat sensor if you need to jump out for a bio break without having to back out of combine mode.
Dont worry Mike, you can fix it right after warranty expires. ...oh wait.
Nice Content & COOL Video THANKS TO ALL
You're supposed to use that time to clean your combine. So it looks nice. ;)
This is why it makes me wonder if all this automation stuff is worth it. If you can't use the thing...the old mechanical ones look pretty good. Can take like 3-4 hours to even get a tech out, blows most of your day
Mike I been praying for you my brother. It sucks with how many bad years we’ve had back to back. Thanks for taking us along on your journey
Hi Mike would love to see an hour long time lapse from the combine. Thanks for the videos thanks for sharing 👍 🇬🇧
A time lapse of him sitting there watch screens reboot. LoL
@@dirtdevil70 I wonder how much he swears off the camera. That has to be incredibly frustrating.
@SomeTechGuy666 maybe a lil bit..but Mike doesnt seem to be the cursing type...although they no doubt use less colourful language lol
They work great WHEN they work. 😂 thanks for the video mike.
claas its you only option now mike. that john expensive needs to perform when its needed
We just got a new 8R410 this year and John Deere displays are slow. It's like they're still using internals from 2005 or their software is just horribly optimized. We run an Ag Leader for GPS and control and it boots up and aquires GPS signal faster than it takes the Deere display to just turn on sometimes.
Fire up the 750 Massey😂
I'm pretty sure the calibrated yield is of more interest to guys that are mapping the yield of their land for variable rate fertilizer applixation the next season or to compare different growing methods or varieties. Probably more useful where irrigation can reduce weather variability.
In our case, we hardly have climatic problems. So mapping the harvest is essential to decide what we will do in the next campaigns.
Seems like self driving farm equipment will never happen if brand new machines can't operate without sensor failures.
lol imagine a bearing failure on a self driving machine no one around for miles in a highly flammable environment you would only figure out about the fire after long after it was out of control and did more damage than the tractor was worth by multiples
That's what I say. Self driving tractors/combines will NEVER be a thing, there always needs to be an operator because these things need to go through a lot of troubleshooting even when they're running fine
You impress me being so calm with a new 1 million dollar machine giving problems.😊
Looks good to me
Good luck combining 🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜🚜
Go to guidance, advanced menu, scroll down and shut working width change notification off. Then you can set width to what you want and not have that width change screen keep popping up
Hey mike can we get longer harvest videos i enjoy your content
Mike: Ever wondered why the Hunter Brothers run New Holland, or why Ashtyn's father runs red?
That landscape is as flat as a pool table, with not a tree in sight. How the first settlers managed I'll never know!
Right?! 😆
@@mikemitchell2554 Have you ever done a video on your family history Mike? Would you want to? I know many folks would be fascinated to hear how the Mitchell family carved a farmstead out of this land.
It really seems like the farmers are now the product testers and it’s costing you and them lots 😂
It always has been that way.
Amazing amount of technology and electronics on these combines. I question as they age if they start having issues it might get very frustrating.
Why wait for them to age? They’re having issues right out of the box. 😁👍🏼
@@happycanayjian1582 Yet people keep buying them. Seems like a competitor would step it up and take that slice of market. But I don't know all the details each buyer calculates, maybe localized shipping costs and support for the better brand totally counters their tech advantage.
The combine will calibrate itself after a few hoppers
Is harvesting still going on??? As of Aug. 25. I want to try and catch some harvesting action near me but Im only available on wkends and am worried its all over now 😢
I would be on the phone to john bloody expensive, having a meltdown if this was my combine. And I only have about 1 percent of the area you guys have actually probably less. Thankfully we have sod all left to do, a bit of spring barley and we are done.
Mike, IMHO, it's probably a good thing that you keep your hair short or otherwise these technology issues would probably have you tearing it out at the roots.
I love the start of harvest! Its the 6 weeks in the middle of trying stay awake! Then last day comes! "Im really sad harvest is over"!!!!
All you need now is an "operator not in seat" error from the seat sensor!!😂😂😂
Haha 😄 start talking about Christmas works every time.
makes me think of a song with the line "when the waves turn the minutes to hours" or when the reboot turns the harvest long I miss the old school pull a lever and go to work.
Edmonton fitzgerald
Would you ever try a Claas combine?
Ah wish I could work on a farm of that size
Everything man made will have problems, no brand will continuously work without issues
This is very true!
I agree
Ahh the joys of being a crash test dummy for jonny
Interesting how many people have problems with some brands for us JD have been excellent and for others not and thats the same with case NH etc
Well it's sad that that expensive of a machine even has issues. Like stopping is equating to money being lost.
Nothing runs like a deere😂
that s jd tech for you a class 8900 is the way to go
Hi Mike will you demo a "Claas Lexion 8900" this year ?
I love your vedos
Do you keep that beast full in poor crops?
I guess that is why they call it the X-9 To many electronic monitors.
S series and case 40 series for the win
Quite often with new technology you wind up losing efficiency instead of gaining. New and improved is not always better
Mike have you ever ran a Gleaner Combine up there?
Next year the new holland cr 11.90💪
Nothing runs like a deer or not 😂
How does he keep his head above water with all these bad years 😢
Do you have it in flex mode
Maybe Try a Claas next go around. LOL
Morning
You need to get yourself a Cr10.9
So lexion with greenstar when 😊
👋😊
So, it doesn't matter what color the paint is on the combine, still problems, eh.
Why grow lentils at all if the yield is so poor. I must say that is one crop I haven't combined?
You running deer headers not aftermarket ones
I know there nice and all.. but was it worth it vs. S790
Almost double.
how do you know its dust not not fire smoke coming of it?
Smoke would have a different smell to it. You can smell even smoldering spots long before you can see any smoke!
@@kevinmeyer3884 okey thanks. Makes sense. I was thinking: dude with all that dust in the air I would always be worried that something is burning 😂
Number 1 reason farm equipment and technology don't work together.
at the end the laverda/fendt were not that bad,
5 of 6 were good, right?
Haha it's was more like 3 or 4 out of 6 were running 😆.. No, they were far worse for us
New Case Quadtracs are the same, screen is forever loading it is an actual disgrace
My Massey 300 never had these issues.😊
Your Massey 300 didn’t harvest 120,000 acres in a season either!
Our lentils did 5.5. We’re sticking with peas from now on.
Mike! Why don't you buy a New Holland combine?
Anyone else see the new Case IH AF10 Combine. It’s Case’s new twin rotor class 10 combine in direct competition to this X9.
Yes I did and it’s exactly what I told you it would be. A new Holland painted red
@@clearskiesranch1362 Which means it will be much better than the X9…
@@clearskiesranch1362 better than the green 💩
with that much sleep i thing that thing would restart and i would power down lol
The reliability of ag tech really needs work. The amount of money we pay for these machines, is it too much to ask that they operate for let's say at least 1000hrs before a problem arises!!
Get a Gleaner!!
I love how he says len'ils.
That beeping is almost as bad as the pro700😂
I'm not saying that this is your case, but the problem with the monitors is not usually in the monitors, the problem is usually in front of the monitor.
Million dollar combines have more sensors than others. They shouldn’t have problems but they do. All new models have issues that’s why it’s best to not buy a new model car or truck until year 2 or 3. Let some else work out the issues
Sorry the combine is kicking up
This world is going down hill with all the issues new equipment and semi trucks gave with sensor and emission problems. emissions
I make a great red lentil soup.
What’s gona happen in 15 years time with this machinery. Most of the time it’s not mechanical trouble it’s electric problem. It’s sickening wen u hav to stop because of some sensor
Why should you use that combine in fifteen years? Buy a new one.
The managers want their bonuses.
@@Jehty21 I no that’s what the company’s want an I no they need tber bonus but I don’t think it’s affordable lol
Mike I have a question
Nothing blue screens like a Deere
Buy a Claas 8900👌
