Restoring something *>* letting it rot away for the sake of "value"
You're doing great man, ignore the naysayers.

The HolyWafflePowder hot wheels are meant to be affordable but many idiot collectors over valued some of them , ruins the fun for all

The older ones can be worth hundreds, true, maybe not hotwheels, but other old toy cars can be worth a LOT of money.

ɖơɱ_ ɬɧɛ just becuz it looks like it can bring that kind of value doesnt mean they should sell it that way :(

If it's worth a lot of money, then it's worth a lot of money, why should they not sell them? They own them and have the right to do as they please with them.

Here's my take on redline restorations, the 250+ Cars that I have restored over the past 3 years have not cost me more than $4 each. And since they were not worth much to the person I bought them from, It gives me the pleasure of bringing a car back to life to display. And it gives me a sense of accomplishment by giving a car that was virtually worthless a second chance. Now for the nay-say'ers that say this is wrong and should not be done, I say to them. Its my car and I can do what I want with it, Just as a kid in the 60s did when they got it. My kids know what cars are original and what cars are restored in my large collection. If, and when they have to sell them. They are smart enough and honest enough to ensure they are sold as stated. Any Redline collector knows a restored from a original. Anything beyond that, all I can say is "DO YOUR HOMEWORK" and Buyer beware....Just my 2cents...

I didn't think much of these restored ones, but I recently checked and even restored ones are going for up to $120 on eBay and Etsy. The sellers aren't passing them off as mint or original either; a well-restored vintage diecast apparently has value.

I enjoy your videos and I'm all for restoring toys. most of the "collectors" who are against it are interested in value and profit. Toys were made to play with. If an old toy is worn and showing it's age, most people will throw it away. By restoring it, you give it a second chance to be enjoyed. I'd much rather see vintage toys restored and enjoyed than tossed out as trash. If that pisses off some people, well, they can just get over it. I like toys for what they are, not how much I can sell them for.

I feel that restoration is good, as long as the restorer restores the object using the same tecniques / materials that were used originally to make it. However I do frown upon "restorers" who don't take time to do something correctly, half-ass the job, and cheap out on materials. I do appreciate the people who are at least trying to make something better, even if it's not the way it should be.
You do quality work, making sure the car looks and shines like new! Escpecially using the same style of air-brushed spectra flame paint as the original, insteaed of cheaping out with a rattle can!

  • @xXWOND3RBR3ADXx
    @xXWOND3RBR3ADXx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

Honestly, if you clean or polish a car and it brings it quality up I don’t see how you changed the original car at all you just shined it. Which isn’t adding anything or covering anything up.

I personally buy and don't restore my diecasts no matter how rough shape they are in. That said, i would love to get into modifying or fixing up some broken ones thanks to yours truly.
When a car is super rare, i would refrain from touching it. Touching up parts of the car without changing out or permanently altering the original material is fine. If it was possible to change out an intact part of an original car with an original substitute without further damaging any part of the first one, i see no harm.

Fantastic video! I wasn't sure if the whole car could be dipped to de-oxidize the base without damaging everything else, thanks for showing that I need not be concerned about that. And, I say restore away! They're your cars to do as you please and once you die.....well it's not like you restored Leonardo da Vinci's Salvatore Mundi.....they're toy cars for Chrissakes that go thru different iterations with different owners! Notwithstanding, your restorations are careful and superb, not some hack job.

Most of your full restorations are getting new life to something that is otherwise complete garbage. You rarely ever hit them with the exact match reproduction color. It’s clear of your cars of been restored based on the rivets that of been drilled out. I don’t think any serious collector would mistake them as originals. As I stated before you’re getting new life to garbage. No harm no foul. Paint on! This is awesome.

I think your work is amazing and if/when you move on from this, there will be a whole separate appreciation for cars of this nature and people will be able to distinguish between the expertly restored and original cars. Regardless of what others think. My feelings are that you have to stop aging in it's tracks, in the future who knows what type of rerestoration processes will be available. For instance the studs will be available to replaced and then rebraded/recrowed."That is in my workshop at this time" with no tell tale signs of ever being drilled out. Your saving a masterpiece of art that can't be replaced and the longer they go without some type of degradation retarding the worse these items will get until they are just hopeless!

I like these videos. Takes me back to my childhood and I see most of the cars I had.
Sticker residue can be removed with WD40 if it is cheaper than the stuff you have used. :)

Screw those people, you're doing nothing wrong, you're not taking advantage of or deceiving anyone. It's a toy car. Enjoy it. Do what you want with it. It's your life. Find your joy your way and everyone else can piss off.

Great vid! You should do more custom painting and work on these, your redline vids are awesome to but it’d be cool to see you do custom work

First of all. I enjoy your restoration videos. As for the naysayers. They really need to get over it. I enjoy trying to restore these old die-cast pieces too. And it's not done worrying about their value later on. Just my 2¢. 😁

Well played with condition - discoloration, light scratches, paint chips, bent axles, clean and put on the shelf. Well abused condition, pitted oxidation, lots of missing paint or deep scratches, bent or crushed, complete restoration. I don't mind rough paint and discoloration but I don't like dented and scuffed wheels or badly scratched or foggy window glass.

There is nothing wrong with restoration or customisation in my opinion. People will always have a appreciation of the time a person took to give a toy a new lease of life. There are people I think are daft for paying £100 upwards for fake prototypes from Malaysia but I don't bash them for it, if they want to pay daft money for what I can make for £10 it's up to them. At the end of the day they are toys and alot of them are going to end up in a land fill no matter if they are immaculate or broken. The car turned out really nice, haters gonna hate though.
