HEAD TO HEAD - PORSCHE 911R vs GT3 TOURING

  • The 911R is one of the rarest models produced by Porsche, with just 991 in existence and an engine from the GT3 RS it is very special and commands big money. In this video we get to drive one, and also compare it to the GT3 Touring, which seems a lot more affordable and a very similar package. Thanks for watching and please subscribe so you don't miss any new content.

    Great video Mark. These are back to basics analogue cars. I regularly hit the 9k on my GT3T as it adds to the retro thrill of driving the lower downforce manual. All 4 limbs doing separate tasks as you change at the limiter, you really feel that you’re hanging on for dear life when overtaking, or powering on at the apex, the adrenaline buzz is immense. Like all sports & supercars, discipline should be employed as to where/when you use it. Great review buddy. 👏

    Chris Harris when asked said the Touring a better car. 911R is very special indeed with each one numbered. Fortunately for 991.2 GT3 Touring owners the Touring came at the end of the 991.2 run so they're fewer and last of the analog P car's and demand a higher $. A friend has both and when asked said the 991.2 Touring a better car. Both fantastic cars and both keepers. I was lucky to get an allocation on a Touring and I have no intention of selling it.

    • @888mf4
      @888mf4  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comment Gregg. The GT3 Touring is a great car but when I asked a few people what was better, the 991.2 GT3 or Touring, I was told the former. The standard GT3 has better downforce and is less twitchy round corners. I was lucky enough to drive both the 911R and Touring back to back and the 911R felt more special, but there wasn't a lot in it. Happy motoring.

    Thank you for not making the 911 R to be this incredibly different driving experience to a GT3 Touring as others have tried to do. Other than the lightweight fly wheel (which admittedly does make the engine rev more quickly and freely) there is little to no difference between the 2 cars despite what people (Porsche nerds) try to say.

The intake system is also totally different from the winged car and is unintentionally a bit louder. Rear visibility is also easier.

    That's a surprise for me to hear: "a GT4 is a better car to drive... 90% of the time. "

      This is not just a 'Porsche problem'. I think most supercars are so capable now and so powerful, that you really don't get to drive them anywhere near their limits on the road. This means a track is the only place you can open them up. I had a 981 Spyder for nearly two years and it was very enjoyable. Very rarely did I feel I needed more power.

      Having owned the GT4 as well, I understand his meaning, however I'd say something similar but slightly different - To me the gt4 is easier to ring out and feel you accomplished something but leaves you wanting for more power or viscousness. The GT4 makes me smile - but the GT3 engine is the one that has my heart and is in my dreams.

    Less downforce? Give me a break. A winged GT3 makes pretty much zero downforce at road speeds. Aero is irrelevant for road handling on a B road. Totally irrelevant.

    High reving NA motor is so overrated and not really all that usable given the tall gearing.

    White script over a white background sized for an ant to read. Brilliant editing. 🤨
