It looks like the guy you bought it from was selling parts off it for shard😂 The car will be nice once you finish with it.
Possibly he seemed pretty straight though
On the ghia 😂
What a transformation. Nice work 🤙
@@JC-zg4xe Broooo 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I bought a 2004 SX RWD Territory last year for $5,000. The seller fixed the car at his expense so it could pass rego. I think I got a good deal.
Too polite about FB marketplace, on the other hand you have saved a nice vehicle, great work
Thanks Craig , yeah well I guess I accepted the deal so it’s my issue now thanks for your comment
@@georgeauto they aren’t making anymore of these things so well done saving it mate.
"Guy agreed to drive it home so we got an unregistered vehicle permit" Said no one ever 😂
We actually did though had no plates and I needed to get it to the bush shop and back to myplace so did a 28 day permit on it
ive done it about 3 times, not that bad
hey out of the 2 times ive driven a car home from buying (no rego) ive been pulled over once, so its worth the 40 bucks
I’ve done it dozens of times with family and friends and 7 times myself there nothing wrong with it at all… pulled over a handful of times no issues at all, police just doing their job they see a no plate car they pull it over and you have the papers and off you go..
Excellent George well done mate. Starting to look good. I’ve got the same idea as you, buy one that is a little shabby but fix everything up yourself so you know it’s safe with new parts. Then you have a car that should be trouble free for years to come
Thankyou Patrick, appreciate your comment, and yes that's what I was thinking, might be able to find a cleaner one for a bit more but, didn't want to spend ages looking around just rather get into it
Love it. Awesome when someone brings life back to a mistreated car.
I've been doing so with my VE SS L98 where 70 percent of the car is now new.
awesome to hear mate, thanks for the comment, I feel like not enough people have time time or care to fix cars, easier to wreck them and make a quick buck but its good to save them too I think
I think 70% of my VE ute needs to be replaced with new parts
Best bit is the experience with your young fella and the numerous family trips to be had. Well done!
Couldn't agree more! thank you
I love the Territories. They look great. Hat tip to you for putting in the hard yards to bring it back to life. Your patience has paid off. Congrats dude.
Thankyou Peter ! Much appreciated
Love how you made this a project with your son. When I was 18 I bought an EB XR6 timing chain dampener broke and fell into sump. Was the best bonding time I’ve ever had with my dad
thats amazing to hear mate , thanks for sharing that with us
This makes awesome content too, love your work and how you have a good at fixing restoring everything 💯💯💯
I appreciate that!
@@georgeauto Been watching this ep over and over as I just bought a 7 seater Ford Everest sight unseen interstate and waiting for it ti arrive (3 weeks). Love to see more content on this family daily beast
Hi Mate, good job, I'm doing a turbo territory up myself, just a tip, make sure you change the inline turbo oil filter just in case you haven't already done it, make the oil presure drop and the oil light on, its a tiny little filter just before the oil pressure sensor.
Thanks for the tip, I haven't done that but ill definitely give it a go
Pick a part is genuinely one of the best places in existence. Love it there
Totally aggreed , I get so happy walking in every time
So good to see Aussie cars bought back to life
Thankyou yes I get a weird satisfaction out of it
awesome video man - i used to drive a RWD '06 territory and i love every second of it even though it was knackered. i took it everywhere when i got my P's before i bought a new car. cant wait to see how it continues!
Thanks mate ! Hoping I like this one also
That wire hanging down is for the washer pump that’s missing. Unless the washer one is taped up and it’s the indicator plug
Ok thanks for that info I’ll have to double check everything
I have also been educated- tyvm - & congrats on a job well done- 300 is good power for a 7 seater that can go most places, is a pity that this car didn’t come stock with bigger wheels & clearance.
Thankyou yes exactly
i have a very similar story with buying a Territory on marketplace that said "it only needs a few things" - 12 months later i think i've got it sorted! lol
5:07 this thing was neglected 😂
Yeah bad
Nothing like a Father Son project, good one 👍🏼
Thanks yes been a great time together !
Farrrk that was a lot of work, I would have noped out as soon as seeing it in person.
I’d be careful with the 7 seat conversion - if you do it without informing VicRoads and you have an accident, insurance likely won’t cover you, even if it’s a factory part. You may or may not need a separate roadworthy cert to get it all legit - best to ask them.
Yeah man 99% of people would have but not here, it’s like that with most of my projects , really didn’t take that long and was a good few weekends learning/ spending time with the boy , the seats are a direct bolt in , similar to the old VNs and EBs that would have a bolt in dickie seat it’s all factory
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but you’ll need to get the car engineered or recompiled if you put 7 seats in a 5 seater car. Same if you take the two extra seats out of a 7 seater to make more room. You can get done for it in most states and territories so just look into it mate.
Yes something I have to look into thanks
mate you can buy the territory as a 7 seater or a 5 seater they all have the mount spot for the extra seat and belts because of this you can put the extra seat in the back no engineering needed because it was a factory option i should know as i have had both cheers
@@glennarnold3970might be different for Vic or Qld but you can fit 7 seats in a car in NSW if is stays 5 seater on the vin plate and rego papers thats what the police and mechanic require for to pass a greenslip/rego check. you need to blue slip/engineer it to keep the paperwork up to date with the cars current form or you leave yourself open to defect notice from police or not being able pass 12 month rego checks to rerego your car over here its a headache.
In VIC, I'm pretty sure you just tell vicroads and they note it down in the system. That's all
Subbed, good on ya for doing it with your son, don't see enough of father son mechanics and to me as a kid that was some of my best memories of my father.
Great video, well done
Thanks mate welcome to the channel hope you enjoy the videos
Well done. It went from unbelievably bad to a gem.
So many stories like this from Facebook marketplace.
Glad you are able to see the bright side and enjoy the experience.
The seller should refund you about $2K on the purchase price. It's people like him that ruin marketplace
Thankyou!
Great video mate, thanks for the mention
Any time! Thanks for helping me out, i have that K frame i need to so soon also!
Same! Keen to see the progress on this! Be sik once the front mount is on 🔥
Best upgrade you did was the SY2 suspension conversion. Super dangerous with the earlier design. You don't want to loose a front wheel on the highway lol
thanks for making me feel better about the few grand I spent on that haha, but yes after research I thought I had to with the family in the car
you and your son saved that car mate and that's a good thing
Thank you ! Still a little bit of work to go but hopefully home stretch now
KIa Carnival for $70k v Territory Ghia Turbo on the road for maybe $12k (assuming future work). That's a big saving
yeah completely different cars though, kia obviously brand new etc, 7 year warranty. Territory fuel guzzler, problems lol
Love the format and content mate. Subscribed for future content!
Awesome thanks uncle John! Welcome
great vid mate - hope to see more of this one as it progresses
Thankyou ! Stay tuned for next one as if progresses
nice work, i love my terry, iits not turbo but i love it. They have their downsides but they arent hard to sort. Nice work man
Thank you yeah I can’t wait to see how it feels on road
Good on you mate. Thanks for your time and great videos .
Thanks Clinton, always appreciate a positive comment
That was really satisfying to watch mate, nice seeing it come back to life
Thankyou ! Still a bit to go but getting there slowly
Thats funny as. I bought my 2007 TTG in Melbourne 2019 before covid hit for $5000 with 225000kms. Was in really, really good nick. Just the usual bushes and small bits here and there. Drove it howme to Darwin.
What a score! Yes I got a BF turbo ZF for 7500
And was wrapped with that , put over 70,000ks on it 280,000 all up and sold it for 13.500 , thanks for the comment
Great job, disgusting how people can neglect vehicles so much especially something as rare as a Turbo Aussie Territory.
Territories and Falcons are too good to be treated like that!
Great job in saving it.
Thankyou yes so many people told me to wreck it but, I think that’s what most people would have done and gone the harder but more satisfying road and makes it good for the video too
Funny thing I was going to buy this for my mother seen it though nothing but a death trap I’m my opinion it wasn’t even worth what he was asking for it he was better off selling parting it out good on ya George at least we know this is going to get the love it needs can’t wait to see this finished will be a beautiful car
Wow no way , so the exact car ? Yeah I had no idea how bad it was till we looked closer , everything is fixable with the right amount of effort and money though
What a cool vid!! Made me smile watching so can’t thank you enough! You’re a legend mate keep doing what you’re doing!
Thanks William love a positive comment
Looks mint now will definitely be following along to see the progress
Thanks 🙏 I think it will come up so much better when I touch up all the paint defects too and give it a proper paint correction
Awesome 👌 work mate you and your son build it together better then any brought car 💯
Thank you ! Yes it’s the quality time together that’s good
Was there any accident repair records on the PPSR? Looks like the rad support and up under the front has had a few dents hammered out.
Great to see it back on the road, it makes me sad to see people let nice cars like this go to ruin.
No repairs yes thankyou I did notice that also I’m going to clean it up
Gonna be a clean family rig brother! Nothing makes me smile like this stuff
I hope so mate, thanks for your comment made me smile also
Congratulations on the "baby" bro good luck with the project
Thank you so much mate !
“Bad on fuel” they fucken guzzel
oh great looking forward to this then lol
YES TRAVIS AT ONE STOP BUSH SHOP IS GREAT DID MY FG DRIVES LIKE A DREAM, YOU HAVE DONE WELL WITH THE SHIT YOU HAD 👌
Thanks mate ! Yes travis recommended I wreck it out but I obviously didn’t go that road and trying to fix this thing up again
For insurance you should get the 7 seat ugrade approved . It is generally no problem as it is a factory option.
Ok thanks for the info I’ll keep it in mine
I am surprised the seller asked for a deposit for a cheap car like this. Good luck with the rebuild, mate!
with the amount of interest in it yes I had to
Well done turning that disaster around.
Thankyou! did take a bit of effort, satisfying knowing that we saved another one from going to the grave
Spot on mate love you guys are bringing it back from the dead perfect family cruiser 😀👌
Thanks Jason ! Appreciate a positive comment
great job of bringing it back to life. Looks like it'll turn into such a cool suv. I hope one day to do projects like this with my boy. Good luck and keep up the good work!
Thankyou! yes its good fun with the boy, if you make it happen it will happen
Fantastic video George, as always 👊🏻
Glad you enjoyed it thank you sir
This makes me feel better ... I just bought one for 10K ... needs water pump, rear main, trans bush and right front vert diff bush .. couple of minor interior bits ... but love it already .. best of luck to you bro!
We own two TTG 06 and 08. Well worth it to sleep some cars
Amazing ! Thanks for your comment
I be worried about insurance with the extra seats you might not be covered
Yeah that could be an issue
Reminds me of my VL when i first got it, lot of work but worth it
It is! and the quality time with the son is good too! did you check out my VL videos ?
@@georgeauto Sure did mate! I first subscribed to you when you first got the VL, as i was building mine at the same time and needed inspiration from ya 🙌🏽💯👍🏽
Awesome video mate! Enjoy all your content. Should be a great car once completed. Good family car the Territory…. 👍🏽
Thanks Craig ! Hopefully we can enjoy some days out in this thing
Worth the time you spend with your boy, plus its a Ford. Well done George.
Thankyou yes it is
Keep a couple k in the glove box for emergencies haha worst car Ford ever released the entire driveline is mounted with rubber and there's nothing you can do to avoid constant bushing changes apart from solid bushes but then you start snapping mounts lmao...also that suspension upgrade buys you another few thousand ks it's not a forever fix
At 5.5k I'm hurting for you mate best of luck
Thanks for the comment mate , I’ve never had one to see how I go , worst case I’ll sell it and pass it on to someone who wants it
Congrats on everything mate, amazing video btw, insane efforts! keep it up!
Thank you so much mate, I really appreciate it
Front diff bushes are easy as can do it with diff in car just got to move it round
I think it can be done but not properly ( there is a guy on TH-cam that does it but he puts them in backwards , for what it worth with my family in the car I want it done 100% properly
You are a braver man than me buying that thing. Good luck with it.
thank you im gonna need it
I have a TURBO Terry and noticed my boost solenoid was missing was well, No idea if it's a common thing, regardless, good car but an expensive daily
Yeah I guess it would be, it’s apparently dangerous for engine
@@georgeauto It was weird, Despite there still being a hose connected to the turbo and wastegate, I was still experiencing what we thought was boost cut, LONG story short, it was oddly fuel cut and the car pulling the absolute timing out of itself to save itself. all sorted and tuned now at least :)
That thing is flogged mate. You'll never get it into better condition than if you just bought one in good nick with service records.
The decision to buy this thing is almost as bad as getting with a single mother!
Thanks for the feedback mate, I’m sure my missus is gonna love this comment
@@georgeauto hahaha. Cheers mate. Hope she gets a laugh! Best of luck with the territory.
I showed her she’s not laughing
@@georgeauto Ahhahahahahahaha
Haha i reckon i would have been shopping around the same time 😂 the ghia turbo market is fucked i ended up going a new Hyundai family car due to the over priced market. Even the over priced territorys were pretty average
Oh really did you see this one go up ? Guessing you’re one of the people that saved it ?
@@georgeauto i didnt see it in person but i did inquire about it. Im in brisbane but that white one from the gold coast the sy2 i went and looked at there were a lot of unknowns with it for the price missing logbooks but they had a heap of receipts for random work done on the head suspect it might of been over heated at some point but was really clean. Also checked 2 black ones out in Melbourne
Great job bringing it back to life keep up the great work
Thanks for the comment D Rob! hopefully on the home stretch now
400LPH Fuel pump and 1000cc injectors with a front mount will give you round 400 wheel at 18psi on 98RON safe tune from my experience, if you have the ZF trans you can also tune its ecu to make mote torque just dont exceed bout 850NM or the trans will eat itself 😅
amazing man that sounds sick, im pushing 500rwkw in my FG stock box still holding up touch wood
@georgeauto it should hold that but I would advise looking at getting a yellow terra flex plate for it as I ripped the flex plate bolts out of my stock one and had to upgrade the stock one is quite thin and just isnt made for all the torque.
Not sure if it's actually a genuine TTG. I say this due to the front seat bolsters looking rather small and I'm 99% sure all TTG came out standard with 7 seats. ICC was also finished in piano black and had silver buttons.
I owned one about 6 years ago and it was a great car.
The sticker on the car says engine T , the icc is wrong and the steering wheel too , should have a chunky one but has most of the ghia stuff I’m not 100 either
@@georgeauto 38589 is ttg model number
THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO
DID GREAT JOB OF REBUILD WAGON BACK TRUE BEAUTY
GOOD LUCK FURTHER IDEAL WITH WAGON
Thanks Robert, appreciate your comment mate
The front part you showed that part was replaced bye ford because it never had the recall parts put on it
ok thanks for that are you talking about the SYii upgrade I did ?
Lucky you knew what you where doing. 😎👌
Yeah well I didn’t really know just found some info online and winging it as I go
Love the content man, keep it up!
Thanks, will do! appreciate your comment
Awesome ! Good work mate congratulations on the baby to
Thank you so much 😀
Love it mate can't wait for more eps !
More to come! Thanks for your comment
Vehicle seems like it was treated very badly.
Yes thank you for pointing that out
makes you wonder what the hell the last guy was doing with the car, just ruining everything he touched it seems. probably would be better if he hadnt taken anything apart at all. ..
Might have been a parts car or who knows ,
Spose one good thing is ya end up replacin so much ya do know it works.
Yeah exactly 👍 thanks for your comment
bruh that baby aint yours hahaha
DNA test tomorrow
So sorry you got ripped off but will be a great car when you finish it cannot wait to see more . ford seemed to make a good suv at the time of their production run
Thankyou ! Love a positive comment!
My old wheel look good on there bro 👌
Yes bro thank you again! Hopefully they drive good
Daymn what an absolute mess. Honestly I would have knocked a few k otlff or walked away. Daymn headache. Make sure you have bypassed the factory trans cooler definitely don't want a milkshake. Because you're using factory stuff, a mod plate will be easy, and then u have to tell transport as well.
Thanks yes , I learn the hard way but good times with the son also , thanks for that info I’ll keep it in mind
@@georgeauto I had an ego turbo too. But cloth seats. Awesome car. And I learnt the hard way about the milkshake, had to get a new box. And all the major stuff you've fixed so happy days. I wrecked out a turbo one and putting engine in my patrol.
Do the transmission cooler they break the gearbox
Ok thanks yes I’ll look into it
Great video mate
Thanks mate, appreciate the comment
Love it. Well done to you and your son cant buy that father son bonding time.
That’s right mate thanks for your comment, quality time is priceless
I paid 9.9 for my base model 4 spd definitely a absolute bargain still gonna be sick❤
Thankyou Ben ! hopefully it holds out for a bit
Bro, stop it!
It's gross.
It's gunna to need ball joints every 6 months, and it's going to have a sump gasket leak every year as well.
Why don't you just go and resurrect a Taxi while you're at it 😂
You could have spent your time and effort on a worthwhile car
Insightful , what do you suggest getting ?
@@georgeauto Honestly, almost anything but this
You probably think it's unAustralian, but any early model and
" made in Asia / Europe "
Not the gross ones ( no one wants a Renault or Bm)
I don't know your channel, but the first thing I thought when I saw this video was,
If I just drive to one of more, let's say
" North West / Western suburbs "
There are a fair few of these driven by blokes who hit their Mrs 🤷♂️
Call me a dumb c*nt but you know it's true.
And then mechanically, they are not a great car.
Do you really wanna do diff bushes every 12 months? lol
Seriously, when you google
" Diff bushes "
Do you know what shows up ?
" Ford Bf / BA / Territory diff bushes"
Haha
But again honestly I can point you in the direction of a workshop that has 6 of these things sitting at the front all waiting for an Alcohol interlock service driven / owned by a bloke who king hits locals in pubs.
I can not understand why you would want to restore this
Really nice build taking it back to OEM+ 😎
Thank you ! I think it’s the best way to go as a start
@@georgeauto looking forward to seeing what you do with this build. Hopefully drivetrain can take the 400WHP :D
Better off buying decent rubber bro - Michelin or Continental
I went with these as they will get the job done, next level up he said they were over 300 a tyre
If I really hate them I guess I’ll have to upgrade
Do you know if it possible to get an ZF 6SP OEM reflash at a tuners shop ? I had my ZF box rebuilt (the box had not failed but I wanted it freshened up) by a Transmission Builder and they flashed it with their tune version and its not good. I would like to go back to the original tune.
ZF in Sydney said they can do it by sending in the Mechatronics unit and a photo of the VIN number so that involves a few weeks without a vehicle.
Yes it sure can , I’ve had mine tuned Via PCM tec and it’s holding up great
up the barra territory yewww
Let’s gooo! Thanks for your comment
@@georgeauto no problem man! hope it turns out alright into a sick family car
This car should have been trucked to a wrecking yard. It sure is a "project".
People who think like this is the reason there is no nice old cars left
@@georgeauto there's plenty of old cars left. Cars that have been cared for and are worth investing in.
Oh sweet a territory. There much to look out for on buying one? Been thinking of getting one to replace my au wagon.
Yeah there is a few things , diff bushes for sure, I’d say gearbox , I’m not a pro on these but check out the territory owners group on FB
Does a 7seat conversion need engineering. If so please do it. If you or your family are in an accident and something happens or if insurance don’t cover you that would be devastating
The seat and seat belts all bolt in , every territory has the mounting points , it’s very similar to the old dickie seats people would put in the back of their Holden and ford wagons , (my mum had a VN with one) I would 100% make sure it’s safe and I don’t see how it would needs engineers, all the engineer would do it make sure the bolts are done up properly , thanks for your concern though
So good bro. Well done fixing that one up. I know which one I would choose between that and the Kia.
Thank you Andrew
That’s where all the rentals went jeeeeezus
You’ve got 2 more apprentices there mate get Tom some buddy’s
not sure exactly what you mean
What a heap of junk. I'm in vic also and if u check frequently I see turbos for around $8k under 200kms, not always ghia's. But anyway u got a project out of it.
Thanks man link me some
Any update videos on the SUV beast bro? 😎🔥🙌🏽
hey bro no not yet other then collecting a few more bits I need to get it on the road, inner guard lining etc
Territory’s need 104W load rated tyres
I think that’s what I got on the new set
My mum wants a ford Everest I told her it’s a awsome family bus but it’s expensive so I’m convincing her to get a turbo terry as well or a escape 😂
I think if the territory is kept nice it will eventually go up as they are getting harder to find clean ones, also so many people are Barr’s swapping other 4wds for a reason coz the motor is amazing and reliable, and this comes factory no need for engineers which is a bonus
Bargain. 20 years back was. But work hard. New motor sweet
yeah you're right
5 grand 😮 a bargain and a half even in that condition haha, push that into doms garage and just like the Supra Jesse would say drop 10 Grands of overnight parts from Japan pin it and it will decimate all Great! Great! deal! Looks like you bought it from a gronk in Boronia
haha thank you, I reckon you're the first to say that, most people think its still a rip off
Could you renovate one house to make bigger while living in the other, then rent out the other which csn give you better tax write offs and more future investments?
Yes great idea , I’m playing with the idea of maybe extending my place and putting a nice shed up as my backyard is huge
Damn bro. I'm suprised you didn't just walk away and forget about the deposit but you probably could've got it back at small claims court as it was false and misleading advertising.
No I don’t want away from problems , and not everything has to be easy , by the time I take somthing to small claims court and waste my time I would have the car fixed ,
