Thank you!!!!! I'll alternate between the podcast version and my normal videoals and I'm really happy I've made this decision 💪 and I'm glad you like it! 😍
This was great, Sam! I knew you were Italian but had no idea you came to England as late as after secondary school! There is not a single trace of Italian accent in your English. Not to mention your eloquence and accuracy. I'm seriously impressed! I share your passion for the English language. All I wanted to do when I started learning it was to speak it fluently one day. Loved your take on CELTA. Even in my time (20-ish years ago) CELTA looked exactly how you described it. I took a TESOL course in London years ago. The principle is the same but less intense (our only homework was to prepare a lesson for the next day). I took a full-time (9-5) course that lasted 5 weeks - we got to practice teaching in week 2. Two of us were non-native English speakers and the rest of the class were. Like in your CELTA course, most of them were just interested in getting some sort of qualification to be able to travel and work abroad. At the course, we were taught English grammar and phonetics (that's where I first heard about the intrusive "r") but, I agree with you, not enough for someone to teach it. When we did our final written test, one of the questions was "What is superlative?", and one guy answered "Superman's brother" 😄 (We were taught comparisons but in his case it didn't stick). I was considering taking CELTA but, frankly, was afraid to do so. It just seemed too much for me. I found your language-maths analogy really interesting. I didn't like maths (most of the time) growing up but I noticed the similarities while I was doing a Proficiency course in London. The first time I was able to solve a maths problem on my own was after I had passed the Proficiency. That was in my early 30s, and I'm still proud of myself. I am no longer a teacher but I still consider myself a student of English, and I love your style of teaching here on YT. I admire the amount of reaserch that goes into each of your videos and how well organised and presented they are. I always learn something new. So, keep it going!
Wow, thank you so much for your wonderful comment 🤩😍🤩 I'm really glad to know that I'm not the only one who finds the teacher training lacking. It's a real shame because despite what I said about most teachers just wanting to travel, there ARE indeed others that genuinely love teaching, and they should be able to receive all the technical tools they need in order to do so well. Haha I love the Superman thing! I had a classmate who made me laugh a lot, too, mainly by how he didn't even understand the task of the assessments 😱😜 You did the right thing not doing the CELTA: if you already have a qualification that allows you to teach, there's no point in putting yourself through extra hard work. I should probably talk more about what I mean when I say that languages are pure maths because I'm sure it would benefit a lot of people and how they approach both subjects. My second video ever three years ago is about using and reading the dictionary mathematically. I stand by the content because it's valid but I was so clumsy and inexperienced as a TH-camr that I can't believe I put it out there into the world haha. But I should probably expand on it more 😉 What do you do now if you are not a teacher anymore? And last but not least, thank you so much for all the great things you've written about my channel and for staunchly supporting me over these years! Thank you!!!! 🤩😍🤩😍🤩
@@EnglogicSam You are welcome ☺ I hardly ever comment on YT (or in general) - your channel is an exception to the rule. I appreciate all your hard work and I share your enthusiasm and love for the English language. It be unfair not to tell you🤩 I work as a translator and copy editor. This year I started a new (government) job, where I do quality control of our translations of the EU legislation. Sounds boring but I like it. I get to read about staff I wouldn't normally and more often than not I find it interesting. I loved teaching too. That side of me is still active as I do mentoring at work. Once a teacher, always a teacher; I guess! 🤓
@@Boba1702 I'll make a video about social media and the fact that I myself don't use it, so I appreciate even more the fact that you comment on my videos because I never do (and I never actually watch TH-cam videos in the first place 🙊 haha). A translator!! You are giving me a lot of topics to talk about. Translating is a skill that I most definitely DO NOT have and I admire those that do. I'll see if I can incorporate that into a video. As for teaching, in two weeks I'll make a podcast episode on why I stopped doing it and I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. And you are right: once a teacher, always a teacher 😉
I've been listening and watching you for a while and now I'm so excited you are going to share more of your world and I really want to know you better❤
So interesting to hear about your experience and perspective, and just to get to know you better! Thank you so much, I got some tips, but we definitely need another face to face chat to exchange a few opinions 😉😗
This question is quite particular, possibly intended for the exclusive circle of your viewers, but I'm keen on learning about teaching techniques that you've found to be effective. ☺
Hello! That video is coming out on Tuesday, that's why you can't open it. How did you even find it? On the ENGLOGIC PODCAST playlist? I've just noticed that it shows on mine even though it's not accessible, but it shouldn't show on yours since it's a scheduled video 😱
It appeared as a notice on the upper bar of my phone. I didn't have time then, so I checked it today. It says you have three parts of your podcast but the third one is hidden.
@@D.C.1 so it shows like on my page... How odd... I would have assumed it would appear only after I released it. Good to know. Thanks for the heads-up. At least now you already know what to expect on Tuesday 😊
IF YOU ARE A TEACHER, let me know what you thought of your training. IF YOU ARE A STUDENT, how do you find teachers that you like?
Hi Sam, l absolutely loved this new evolution of your channel ❤
