RIP Vibram Cord soles. Great video guys!!can you guys do a resole with this leather shank on a standard resole? For example if I want to do new welt, midsole and a standard block heal? Just want the enhanced support. Kinda like how nicks has the leather shank of their falcons?
@@Brajin1 yes. Even on this package you can select the style of heel you want. But if you want a different sole package, we can add the leather shanks during the consultation call once the boots arrive.

I appreciate the hard work and craftsmanship that went into these boots, and obviously taste is subjective, but for my eyes i absolutely despise half soles. To me they give the absolute worst profile on any boot. I love the look of this booth from the back, and front, but that side profile makes me look like crab man from My Name is Earl. I can't get passed the goofy swoop taper and then the gap between sole and heel, especially knowing that Dr. Sole makes full length soles that could have been used! Either way, keep up the great work!

@@joeshoe2249 our editor lives in the area of NC that was hit hardest by hurricane Helene. He has been editing this during that time while power was out in his area. He has been working, when possible by generator. It has been quite the challenge for him on this one.
I wonder if RW workers are crying watching you rip their boots apart, or nodding in agreement with your upgrade.
Is it easier to do a resole on new boots since the glue and stitching is relatively 'fresh'?

What did you use on the soul to give it that orange look as she was using the Dobber to put it on with?
@@charlesfurgerson that was neutral cream polish. It was only orange because it was wet. It dries natural color. If you want orange, use feibings brown edge dressing and wipe it off immediately
Vibram discontinued the corded sole ?
@@JC_ORTIZ they discontinued it several years ago. We convinced them to make a special run for us. They realized why they discontinued it during that run. The machine they used to make them is so old that it couldn’t withstand making that tough of a sole. So, that was the last run. We still have some 13-14’s available if you need one that big

It is the original corded soles by Armortread. Vibram originally made them under that name and later added the Vibram logo. They never added the Vibram logo to the smallest size. That is the size that you need. They actually match the heels we used perfectly.
I like the way you guys reinforced the shank with a piece of leather, except for one thing. Metal shanks are not the future.
The future is non-metallic shanks. My preference leans towards a thick piece of veg-tanned leather like they in the PNW boots.
It is not hard to tell that it was PNW boots that inspired your “Iron Logger” package. I think going with a leather shank would put you guys over the top.
I’m an urban commuter. It will not be long before TSA security protocols come to subways and eventually public buses.
Get ahead of the game and figure out how to do a leather shank now. I will be your first customer.

@@thesharpercoder yes, pnw boots use a leather shank, but the boot is designed for the leather shank. These boots were not designed for them. Since we are repairing a boot that is already designed, it requires a stiffer shank than a leather one. We do have an alternative for people that have to go through security checks. It’s a heavy fiberglass shank. Every customer has that option if they want it. We covered this subject in our blackout video. The option of fiberglass and leather combination is also available. When we work on pnw boots, we use leather shanks only.
