I was a power plant millwright for more than a decade in the beginning of my career. Redwings were the gold standard, people who make cheap boots, and then market them as anything other than 3 months of wear then throw aways, have a special place in hell
I’ve done the army, crane operating, lineman work, and now Union Ironworking. There is no point in cheating your feet if you’re working class, point blank. Quality tools, PPE, and boots can save your life in the field!
@@gregoryfilin8040 I’ve really enjoyed the thorogood 1957’s with a different insole that’s available at a boot shop near me. I’ll eventually be getting myself the 8” JK Forefront bison’s. The 1957’s outsoles are comfortable and more durable than the 10877’s or the Christy’s. Weston’s pair got water in them, but the two I’ve already had (and I just got a new pair last week for Ironworking, no steel toe or heel for climbing steel instead of wood) have been really water resistant!
@@gregoryfilin8040I went to a local boot store near me. I had them not only fit me for a pair that I'd like, but also measure my feet and provide me with insoles. I settled on a pair of red wings at $250. (They've actually been featured on this channel.) Great boots, and I'm comfortable all day long with no issues. I tried lots of different boots, but I'd recommend thorogood or red wing. They may not cost as much as the big boot brands like danner, but they are some of the most affordable and well made boots money can buy these days. I would highly recommend going to see a local cobbler near you. Regular shoe stores aren't it.
I bought these years ago and recommend them for you to cut. Good to know they increased the price with no changes. I even emailed them about the boot being lined when they said it wasn’t, and their argument was that the boot was unlined at the top portion you mentioned. They have been sitting in my closet for a long while now.
Still have my loose laced CATs from the 80s. Dad just went through a new pair of Georgia in less than a year of light use, sole split, sidewall blew out. Not saying all their stuff is like that, but those sure weren't well made. Fluke?
I have jks for hunting and love them. Just cant justify the price. I do flooring systems and concrete, I eat through even high quality boots every year. The really high end $800 boots are beat of the best no question, and to me its worth it for a pair of boots i can take care of. But for boots i blow through in a year no matter what it just cant make sense, no matter how much i want a pair of nicks mocs to work in. I was a loyal red wing and thorogood guy but just got some whites perrys and am so happy. Value for price on those is outstanding, i cant see ever switching unless i suddenly start making lots of money and decide to get custom work boots every year hahaha (probably wont happen)
Those ain’t “construction boots” unless you’re the runner, a trailer troll, a driver, I damn sure wouldn’t sling a sledge with em on, much less walk a beam

You're a blessing man . Keep these series up. We have the money and we always go for quality so its cool to see you lookijg out for us for when they cut corners for profit
The reason there are so many work boots in the $120-$150 range isn't because the people who use them can't afford better or wouldn't spend more on a boot that can be rebuilt. It's because manufacturing plants that require steel toes are required by law to provide required PPE and do so by a $120ish yearly renbursment to purchase said boots.
As a tradesman I would like to see some reviews of safety toe boots. Like steel and composite red wings and thorogoods. Also is there a higher quality brand that makes safety moc toe boots for construction at like the $500-700 price point. Maybe something that will last a tradesman more than 6months to a year. Love your videos, thanks!

My dad worked construction from 1956 till 1996 , he always had an extra pair of boots in the car and minimum 3 extra pairs of socks . And another pair of boots always ready to go
Truth be told. Ive had a pair of wingshooters in the past and while they were awesome and comfortable, my adidas sambas do the same job at half the price. I dont need a steel toe and water resistance is all i ask for. But i work all day on asphalt and on ladders so comfort and durabulity are the name of the game. I think id like a pair of redwing heritage but i keep watching your channel hoping that i find *exactly* what im looking for.
May not be a work boot but for 30$ more I would buy Thursday's Diplomat that has a full leather lining, a leather welt, cork filling, and Vibram soles....I know they are fashion boots but still, they are better built....
Nike and Wolverine should be all you need to know about the quality of these boots. Thursday makes boots in Leon, but they use quality leather and soles. I always enjoy Moctober. Any Moctober t-shirts this year?
My Duradero boots are slightly less comfortable than my Thorogoods. But, $50 dollars cheaper and a free re-sole makes them the better choice in my opinion.
how is the leather on them. The only pair I don't recommend for work are the crazy brown leather ones. as those are not genuinely made with crazy horse leather. its nubuck. I also wish that they allowed the Buckhannon with a black wedge sole. Back to what I was saying. are the full grain leather ones just as good as thorogood?

Please review the Danner Ranger. Not a Moc boot but used by a lot of police officers in So California. I had 2 pair that lasted over 20 years on the job. I tried Throughgoods, Gorilla and Hi Tec which on the average lasted 1 year. After getting the Danners, my feet stayed warm especially in wet weather or standing on perimeters for hours.
At least their name shows how many corners they cut to claim a good product. All hype and the appearance of substance, but no filler. I would be more upset by brands like this and PLG making wild claims to obviously price gouge people, than with brands like Harley Davidson, Carhart, Dickies, or CAT licensing their names to crappy quality products all likely coming out of the same factories with different badging.
