Thanks for stepping up to bust the guy's myth that it is wrong to release the tail of the new inside ski at the top of the turn. It is not a necessary move when first learning to leave railroad tracks on a very gentle slope where you can just roll both skis. When you get some speed and pitch and you are trying to maximize things like edge angle, inclination, tip engagement, and power to the outside ski, rapidly retracting the hamstring of the new inside leg at the top of the new turn to the point that the tail of the ski leaves the snow is a valuable tool, not an error. On a basic physics level, the harder and faster you retract the mass of the old outside ski, binding, and boot, the quicker the opposite reaction will pull your center of mass across the skis to the inside of the new turn. Thanks for helping to quash the myth that retracting that tail is an error. It is something we see very often (yes, not all the time) when top racers or international demonstrators are skiing with speed and power on a steeper pitch. The equally valid alternative is the quick retraction of both tails to help the "ankle flick" you pointed out so well.
Great video. Drive the knee, pinch the hip. I have 10yo Aftershock and AC30. I bought green Rustlers 2 years ago. I tuned and tried the oldies for a lark. 'Why bother'? I said out loud first run
A great mountain superbly managed, but it has a serous lack of natural snowfall compared to other western resorts. Lots of great terrain that is rarely open. If I’m heading west to ski, I want a better chance of skiing the ungroomed and having a powder day. There are too many better choices in Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, etc.
Cool video! I snowboard at Sun Valley and do some filming myself. I'm hoping to learn how to ski this winter. If you are back up here and want to collab on a video, "teaching a snowboarder how to ski," I'd totally be game. Just a thought. The countdown to winter is on! Cheers man!
@skidadTV that is nice video. I usually learn a lot from your videos 👍😊 The problem in my case ( 52 year old from ireland ) is i have to try it after that on the slope and i have pretty good access to dry/artifcial slope but very short. So before i start thinking what i feel from my body the slope is finished 😂 One question, would i be possible you do a video describing turn for example in 3 sections. And you describie in every section what happen with your ankles, knees, shoulders, chest. Where your outer and inner feet are located comparing to center of your body etc. Regards and thx for this video 👍
Informative video!... what would be your best tip to help a skier keep his inside( uphill ski) from either separating from his downhill ski or feeling unstable and sloppy after the turn is made? I know you advocate that after the "sting" phase you back off the pressure in what you call the float part but is this only for the downhill ski and we keep maintaingthe uphill pressure ( lighter anyways) in the float phase on the inside ski?
The biggest que for the inside ski is to drive the inside knee to keep your shins parallel. Sometimes you have to slightly lift and hold that foot/ski in the proper position
You’re right, I definitely am. Just a free skiing stylistic thing. Outside ski is doing what it needs to so being casual about the upper half and not giving it as much attention.
Steve’s squatting down to substitute for angulation. I think he has a weak side core. He’s also twisting his upper body up the fall line instead of looking ahead.
So much wrong with the instructors skiing I don’t know where to begin….. Let’s start with 18:1718:17 his hands. What are they doing at his waist and behind his back?

The view is unbelievable...like a wallpaper whew!
A fun mountain; definitely in my top 5 ski areas.
A epic video with lots of super runs- thanks for posting. Nothing like that here on the east coast - All the best and God Bless. 🙏❤🇺🇸

Very true. There is way better skiing in the western US.
Awesome! I refurbish cars and skis! nice vid!
As a guy in mid 50s with broken body who’s on his 3rd season skiing I’d settle for not being scared 😱…. Great vid tho thank you

I think I have made that video, or at least one close to it. Ride Float and sting or the movements of a high edge angle ski turn would be a good start
very good video I was able to pick up great points
Sun Valley looks beautiful and great vibes. Never skied Idaho or Utah. Only Colorado
Your channel rocks! How about a collab with Rickety Ski Reviews? He’s in Idaho too
Heading back to SV next month - second time. Year 6 on skis and this is super helpful. Its amazing but steep! Kaitlyn's bowl :)
Have fun. You are headed to paradise

Do you like the way Taco uses his hands? Seems like too much upper rotation following his uphill hand.

We had so much snow last year...
How do you guys like POC goggles? Does the Clarity lenses do better with low light conditions compare to other brands?
Not sure how it compares to other brands navies I have been using POC for years.
I love them though. Have had nothing but clear vision all season.
What objective(s) did each have?
Why are you "coaching"up these guys?
Coz they asked him?

I don’t care about my hands. I’m ripping.
The fact that that is what you led with says I’m doing pretty good.
